Nick gets her purse and ushers her out. Sonny and Will are right behind them! At the hospital, Kate impatiently watches her sleeping beloved through the window and then gives Hope a statement about how she found him. Hope is certain the doctors will do everything in their power. Kate’s eyes are filled with dread as she questions if that will even be enough! Meanwhile, bloodied Rafe remains unconscious. Hope notices that Kate is shaken. Kate folds her arms and refuses to leave. Kayla appears and will only say he is stabilized but critical. She is concerned about the internal bleeding and fluid buildup on his brain. Kate begs to see him. Kayla dismisses her and gets back to work, feeling the pressure. Hope laments there is nothing they can do but Kate begs to differ and storms off. Crying Gabi now arrives with Nick, followed by Sonny and Will. Hope promises to stay in touch and assures the distraught girl they will let her visit with her brother soon. Gabi blames herself for making him get her muffin near the sinister alley. Nick claims it must have been a druggie who jumped him from behind. Sonny points out he knows how to defend himself. Gabi sobs who could do such a thing? Maxine now arrives to escort Gabi to his room. Nick excuses himself, coldly claiming he has something to do. Will mutters they need to talk to him. Back at the town square, Abigail wants brother JJ to tell her the truth about what happened in England. She does not believe his tall tale and presses him to fess up. He insists he was telling the truth, when Cam calls Abigail to cancel, due to a work emergency. Abigail petulantly poses by the flowers and warns her little brother she is free to bother him until he tells the truth! He, however, smoothly sticks to his story. JJ now notices a couple of scruffy guys and teases they are checking her out. She notes they do not appear to be the right kind of crowd and steps away to take a call. The guys make eye contact with JJ, who smugly approaches. Apparently Commissioner Roman is in L.A on a conference and has requested Abe’s consultation expertise. Abe is wearing his evidence gathering gloves. He remarks to Detective Hope that the first thing to establish is whether Rafe was a random victim or a marked man! It could be a revenge matter or a mugging. Hope points out the injuries are too severe. Someone clearly wanted Rafe dead! A cop hands her Johnny’s FBI jacket and she is almost reduced to tears. Sami is desperate to move out of the mansion but EJ thinks they should remain and she should apologize to fatha. He urges her to breathe. Staying and apologizing. She does not like that idea. EJ feels fatha would need a false sense of victory, hence his request. Sami hates this, but not him and they start to kiss passionately. He coaxes her to make nice with fatha. She eventually agrees. Stefano appears for a drink and makes a reference to their passion. Sami had not realized her lipstick was smeared on EJ’s face. They laughingly remove it. The phoenix gets his drink and she apologizes, admitting she was being an overprotective mother. He accepts and adds he too loves his family. All of a sudden, diva Kate storms in and screams he loves them to death! She shrieks he is a bastard and demands to know how he could do such a thing! Harold the butler, EJ, and Sami stare. Stefano innocently muses Katarina just had to come in screaming her head off. She cries and calls him evil. Gabi breaks down at Rafe’s bedside and refers to him as the best big brother. He was always there. Her pretty eyes have tears flowing from them as she places the St. Christopher medal he gave her in his hand. It can watch over him now! She proceeds to pray. Meanwhile Sonny and Will follow Nick into a room and Will demands to know why he is not upset. Nick claims he is. Will questions why he is texting while his sweetheart is crying her heart out in the next room. Unshaven Nick snaps he has had enough of him and his fancy pants loverboy. Will snaps he can go right ahead and show his true colors with the gay bashing! And he looked like he was in a fight when he came to the pub. Sonny points out Rafe was looking for him and it cannot be a coincidence. Nick denies going after Rafe. Will advises him to say exactly where he was or else he tells the whole sordid story to Hope! Back in his room, Rafe drops the coin and the sound of a flatline is heard. Kate accuses Stefano of having one of his thugs go after Rafe. Sami gasps is Rafe hurt? Kate confirms he is and bitterly blames the phoenix. Sami wonders why he would have done it. Kate exclaims he must have found out they were lovers! Sami stares, wide-eyed. Gabi cries and runs out as the medical staff run in to save the flatlining patient. Cam gives him a charge. Maxine and Gabi watch through the window with bated breath. Gabi covers her mouth with a hand. Tick tock ...! END Ahead on Days of Our Lives Rafe hangs on. Chad makes a move!. |
