Sami smiles at them sympathetically, unaware of who they really are. The little boy wishes they could go home. Sami muses she has a little boy about the same age and they ask so many questions! His mom agrees. She and Sami compare notes on their man angels. Sami sits and recalls she can still hold her little boy when he is sleeping. Mrs. Bernardi cries about wanting to protect kids from this crazy world. Sami offers her coffee and she accepts it black. Sami notices her hand is shaking. Sami later paces and the wife wonders what she is worried about. Her older son. She tells him about the new baby. The wife muses she does not look like a grandma. Sami is happy to be a grandma to perfect baby Arianna. Life is too short to worry about little mistakes. The wife breaks down and Sami consoles her. She is worried about her husband, the good man. Sami takes her hand and sympathetically encourages her to tell her all about him. Hope is struggling with the vent. Enter Commissioner Roman, having been partly briefed. Only partly, mind you. Roman drawls he knows Bernardi will probably make it but what the hell is EJ doing at the crime scene! EJ becomes indignant. They update Roman on what happened, as per Sami. He is stunned to learn she was the one who shot the detective. Hope now gets to what she saw. Alas she cannot reach the small object below so EJ reaches in with his long arm. It appears to be a nail clipper. Abe gets sarcastic. EJ rages someone removed the knife from the room, He is arguing with Roman when Hope realizes there is another vent above they will need to get checked out. Abe leaves and assures them he is available should they need him. Now in charge of the investigation, Roman asks Hope what the hell happened. EJ is putting his jacket back on when Roman gets the end of the update. The commissioner wonders where Sami, of loaded gun fame, is now. Sonny wonders why a cop wanted to kill Rafe. Will wonders about Gabi. Kate assures him she is fine, Maxine calmed her down. She points out Gabi and the baby are going home tomorrow but no one, including Gabi, knows where that is. Kate suggests that Gabi and baby Arianna move in with her. Sonny stares. So does Will. Will discreetly asks for a moment alone with Sonny to discuss so Kate discreetly departs. Will asks him if he can believe it. Sonny says NO! And what if Sami has to go through Kate to see Arianna? He happens to have an idea of his own. Will is intrigued. Brady hugs stepmother Marlena, thanks her for telling him the truth all along, and announces he wants to apologize. No apology is necessary. He admits he is not sure how to feel right now. She suggests he rest and casually asks about John as he walks her to the door. Brady doubts things will ever be made right between them. She understands, pats him, and goes. Brady leans against the door with a sigh. Meanwhile, Kristen informs John that she too is suffering. She was a fool to play her games and she meant it when she said she no longer cared about him. She is not interested! He is counting on it and asks what she is going to do next. She hisses he has no hold over her anymore and she is free free free! She walks away and John purses his lips. Meanwhile Brady is busily deleting pictures of himself and Kristen in happier times on his phone. Kristen has returned to the mansion and decides to keep Marlena as a contact on her phone cos she is not done with the bitch yet! Sonny confesses he did something. Bob and Nancy across the way just moved out and he informed the landlord they would be taking the two bedroom. He even put down a deposit. Will grins he means Gabi and the baby are moving in with them. Sonny teases how about it! Will's eyes twinkle. Hope, Roman, and EJ will be meeting Sami back in the waiting room but first run into Dr. Kayla. Bad news. Bernardi bled to death after surgery! Roman sighs they must tell his wife. Kayla indicates the cop who knows where she is. The gang are shocked to hear from the well meaning cop that the wife was taken to the same waiting room as Sami! Meanwhile in said room, the wife is telling Sami what her boy likes to have read to him by his daddy. Sami shares her kids have two dads who would do anything for them. Roman slowly enters with a long face, followed by EJ and Hope. Sami asks how Bernardi is. The wife gasps she knows her husband? Shocked Sami stands by EJ. The widow perceives the commissioner’s dire demeanor and collapses in his arms, sobbing as he mutters he is so sorry. EJ places his arms around Sami, who can only stare in horror ...!
