But he was gay and could not stay with her. Then she found herself in a bind and turned to loyal Will to keep her secret. He does not think less of him for it. Will marvels he is incredible for not hating him after knowing everything. Sonny notes Gabi eventually did tell Nick she was pregnant. He is glad she changed her mind, given that he is the baby’s father … Marlena is pleased to report that Gabi is marrying Nick for all the right reasons. They embrace. She warns there will be obstacles but Gabi is confident they shall overcome. Knock knock! Tis John and Nick. John points out there was nothing to worry about after all. Nick grins at the two happy women and breathes a sigh of relief. Chad cannot say more about Gabi. He goes on to tease Abigail about her dress. She teases him about his offer of a date to get over the fact that they were both dumped. What could be worse? She jokes golf on TV might he worse than going out with him. He grins they could have a good time and earnestly notes life has been tough of late, particularly for her. She says that is true. As one friend to another, Chad asks the young girl how she is holding up. Her doe eyes widen. Caroline holds Eric’s hand over the table and concludes he must have seen some terrible things in Africa. He admits the level of suffering was unimaginable. She realizes he would rather not share, hugs him, and returns to the kitchen. Eric now flashes back to the last time he woke up in a cold sweat. He feels a hand on his shoulder and turns around. Tis Nicole. “Are you okay?” she whispers with worry. Will realizes Sonny is just upset he did not know he was paying for Gabi’s abortion. Sonny agrees that was it. He praises Will for respecting her wish to keep it a secret. Will sighs at least Nick knows everything now. Sonny notes they seem happy too. Will adds they are getting married. He hopes they will not have to discuss this again. Sonny chuckles he would rather never talk about Gabi at all. Will grins.”What are you doing for Christmas?” Frazzled Father Eric assures Nicole he is quite fine. She complains she needs him to be fine, as she became depressed over her lost baby and Sydney while Christmas shopping. He is sympathetic. She laments she then saw Abigail and was reminded that Dan and Jen would be together for Christmas. Sometimes the holidays do dampen one’s spirits. The preoccupied priest puts on his coat. She notes he does not look well. He sighs he needs more hours in a day. She suggests he needs a nap. He agrees and quietly departs. Nicole frowns and stares after him. Will invites Sonny to the Horton family Christmas. Sonny laughs upon hearing it was new fan papa Lucas’ idea. However, he thinks his mom might have a problem with it unless Will comes to his house first. Has he ever been to a Greek Christmas? Will beams it will be his first one and he is looking forward to it. Sonny’s face lights up like a Christmas tree. They seal their holiday deal with a kiss. Gabi and Nick flounce back to the pub, happy as larks. Boss lady Caroline confesses she had forgotten where they went. To Pre-Cana, where they spoke with John and Marlena. Caroline recalls how she and Shawn used to counsel eager couples. She hopes they were told to never keep things inside and talk over their problems. Will arrives and Caroline gets back to the kitchen. Gabi hopes nothing is the matter. Will explains for a moment he feared Sonny had found out the big secret but as it turns out, he did not. However, he figured out he gave her the money for the abortion and took her to the clinic. Nick listens, his arm draped around Gabi’s shoulders. She suddenly gets worried. Will insists Sonny will tell no one. Gabi has her doubts. Sonny might say something to Chad, his friend and business partner. Chad hates her and it would not be good! Still with Abigail at the town square, Chad recalls how hard his first Christmas was following the loss of his mother. Abigail remembers Christmas with Jack, how he used to insist that Santa was real. JJ will be spending Christmas with friends this year, for he cannot face coming home. She feels bad for her mom, who did not need to deal with appendicitis in addition to a holiday without Jack. Chad advises her to also think of herself and use her family to help her get through this. After one makes it through the first Christmas, it becomes easier. Abigail appreciates the advice and thanks him. Elsewhere … Caroline approaches Nicole at her pub table and wonders where Eric went. Nicole knows not. Meanwhile, Father Eric clutches a rosary in his rectory room, on his knees, and begs the Lord to forgive him for his sins … Meantime John and Marlena stroll by the town square Christmas tree hand in hand. John stops and announces they must split up here. “What?” gasps the blonde. He teases they need go their separate ways to Christmas shop for each other. She laughs about overreacting. They now discuss Nick and Gabi. They face a tough road ahead. It made John realize how lucky they are for triumphing over many battles. He is still more in love with her than ever before. She whispers she is too and gazes at him. He is grateful that she listens and is always honest with him, even when it is not easy. She gushes she does not know what she did to deserve him. He drawls she was herself and kisses her by the sparkling tree … Chad returns to the coffee house and cannot help but notice Sonny’s happy face. He concludes he worked things out with Will. Sonny gushes it was just in time for Christmas. Chad reminds him not to forget that Gabi is at the root of all evil in this situation and he spoke the truth about her. Sonny knows that. Chad is relieved to hear it …Meanwhile, Will assures Gabi that Sonny can be trusted and will not say anything to Chad. Gabi panics that he still could figure it out. Nick calmly explains there is no problem. He is raising the baby as his own and they are getting married. “Who is going to look at all of that and figure out that the biological father of the baby is actually some gay boy!” he laughs. Will does a double take. Nick suggests they all calm down and excuses himself to help Mrs. Brady in the kitchen. Will gives Gabi a questioning look. “Gay boy?!” … At the rectory Father Eric is dreaming. NOOOO he cries out. A lone gunshot is heard. He sits up with a gasp when Nicole touches his leg. She sits beside him on his bed and places her hand on his arm. “My God,” she asks the perspiring priest. “What is wrong with you …?”... END |
