However, they have another mystery to solve. The mystery of grandma Alice's bank account. He is admittedly perplexed, as Mrs. H was not the type to have deep, dark secrets. Hope recounts how she never saw those bank statements until recently. She senses Alice is attempting to tell her something. The financial adviser soon joins them and explains they have wasted their time, as he is not at liberty to say anything. Hope sits down and smiles she will not accept that. - At the town square outdoor restaurant, Sami joins her new employer Madison, who introduces Brady. They laugh that they already know each other. Madison wonders whether they ever dated. Negative. They happen to be stepsiblings. Madison now realizes this is the same Sami Brady she knew in the first grade, when she was known as Maddie. Sami giggles and they catch up. They were a great team in the first grade and will be the same again. Madison's phone rings and she steps away to talk biz. Sami sits down and asks Brady how he knows her. She is dismayed to hear that Titan just bought the company. She pouts, as she had assumed she got this job on her own. Brady assures her he did not know Madison hired her. She snagged this job on her own merits. She thinks it is still a strange coincidence. Brady informs her he would not stand in her way of getting something on her own. She thanks him. He is glad she is on his team and drinks some more coffee. She brings up John and is troubled to hear Brady has not seen him. John was beaten up in prison! Brady stares darkly. Madison returns. That call was from the warehouse manager of her new offices. She needs to go. Sami and also Brady will go with her... - At the mansion, EJ dumps files on Nicole and orders her to familiarize herself with them. Nicole wants answers to her questions or else she quits. She criticizes his image. EJ insists he has no image problem, as she has suggested. Nicole reminds him he dodged a bullet with faux Rafe and bullets are very risky, so she needs to know what exactly he has on John Black. EJ asks her to trust him. The situation with John will improve his image and make her job easier. She starts to leave. EJ wonders if she would turn her back on an almost seven figure salary! That gets her attention. He shares just how he intends to use John Black to defeat Abe, though the details are not revealed to the viewers. EJ muses John will not know what hit him! Nicole is impressed and is anxious to arrange press coverage for him, after learning that everything is going to blow by the end of today ... - At the station, Austin reassures Carrie. She kisses him and departs to see her client. Rafe and Austin discuss how Sami and Carrie both support John. Austin suspects Carrie will get him released. Rafe is surprised to hear she is his new attorney. He warns Austin this will be a high profile case and reminds him he was brought in by the SEC on this. Austin points out that Rafe is still involved. His job, however, is done, which is why he needs his next assignment. Rafe drawls he is only involved in order to help John. Austin explains he is relaxed about Carrie taking the assignment and chuckles he had no say in the matter. They now talk Sami,. Austin remembers when she was an insecure kid. Rafe boasts she is excited about her new job. Austin notes she makes things happen. Rafe agrees. Their conversation is cut short when he gets summoned to the holding area. He wishes Austin luck with his job search. - Down in his cell, John muses to Marlena that bastard Stefano must be behind this. Marlena recommends they find him a new attorney, one who will not be influenced by Stefano, one that they can trust. Carrie walks in and grins they are looking at her, for she is now John's attorney of record! She has taken action to report what happened to him, how he was attacked while in custody. And that is why the D.A. granted bail, and house arrest! John is against the arrangement. She argues she is a better deal than a court appointed lawyer. John wonders how on earth he will make bail. Through Abe and others, who will give Carrie the cashier's check. John is dubious and does not want to cause problems for others. Carrie insists he must now listen to her. Later, when John and Marlena are alone again, he emotionally tells her he believes in Carrie but does not want to put her in harm's way. Marlena points out she is tough and trustworthy. With her, they can succeed. John retorts many people hate him. They could go after her too! Marlena argues she could handle it, as she has already worked on more dangerous cases. Carrie reappears with Rafe. They are getting him out today! Marlena smiles and gasps. John will need to wear an ankle monitor. Carrie has arranged protection from a security firm. The cells doors are opened and John and Marlena embrace. - Sami goes back home, as Madison sent some work for her to do there. - Nicole later returns to the living room and is annoyed to see that EJ is planning a private dinner for them. A romantic table has been set, and there is champagne. She snaps he can find himself another PR person and starts to storm off ... - Hope argues she was the executor of Alice's estate. How can she be sure these funds belonged to her grandmother? The adviser claims he is bound by confidentiality. Bo insists confidentiality is not an issue when the person is deceased. He flashes his badge when the adviser stands up and suggests he talk to them a little bit longer. He wonders if he will be arrested. Bo warns he is being evasive enough for him to have the IRS audit his accounts. The adviser admits the account connected to her grandmother is still active. Hope now asks a key question.
