She stops to look at the guest list of the outdoor restaurant. Brady arrives and assumes she is the hostess. He gives her an advance tip and confesses to her that the woman he and his grandfather are meeting is known to be a b*tch. They might need this to be fast. Madison doesn't miss a beat. She sarcastically shows him to his outdoor table and gets him his coffee. Victor soon joins Brady and shares the good news that he is engaged. Now all he needs to be even more happy is to acquire Mad World Cosmetics from Madison James. They discuss John's arrest. Brady admits he has not spoken to him. Victor reminds him the man is his father. Madison now returns, carrying her briefcase. Vic is glad to meet her and introduces her to a mortified Brady. They decide to order. Madison states she spoke to the hostess and advised the kitchen not to rush the order! Brady is at a loss for words. She airily adds first impressions are important. Victor praises her commitment and passion. He wants herself and her company to join Titan. Brady agrees. Madison points out she wants what is best for her company. Victor calls her eloquent and charms her. "Profits matter, but people matter more!" He gets a call from his fiancée and steps away to take it. Madison refers to him as a charmer. She warns Brady she runs her company her way. Brady informs her they run things well at Titan too, but she has no intention of giving up control. Brady explains that although they want to buy her company, she will remain CEO, a woman of power. She is not interested, as her profits would go to Titan, not her. He offers to sweeten the deal. She places the money he gave her back in his hand. Their eyes lock. The chemistry is evident. - At DiMera mansion, Kate is muttering to herself about Madison when EJ sweeps in, excited by all the publicity he received. He cracks jokes about the bad publicity John is getting. Kate would rather not laugh at the misfortune of others and advises EJ to remember the little people. He announces he intends to win the mayoral election by a landslide. Kate offers the services of a PR company she knows, but he claims he already has someone in mind. Enter Nicole. She presumes he wants her to return her key and drops it on the chess set. Kate remarks the pawn has fallen, just like John Black. She and Nicole exchange words. EJ ushers Kate off to her meeting. Nicole wants to know what he wants from her. She starts to taunt him he will lose against Abe. Why does he wish to even run? Is he arrogant enough to think he will win, just because he has good looks and deep pockets?! EJ drawls that never did Jack Kennedy any harm and enjoys his coffee, then puts it down. "I need somebody who can put a positive spin on the family name." She notes he needs miracle workers. He wonders what she would do to fix it, if she were his publicist. She snaps he cannot be serious. He points out he needs someone to convince the people that the DiMera name has been unfairly vilified by the liberal media. He seeks national recognition that a DiMera is worthy of winning office. She asks why he cares about national exposure if he is running for mayor only. EJ grins. "Baby steps!" - Marlena approaches John's cell. Today is his arraignment and he needs to look his best in court. He sits up and she gasps at his badly bruised face. "What happened?" She demands to know who did this. He drawls some of his fellow guests did not like his looks. There was a surprise exercise break in the yard last night and there were conveniently no cops around until it was too late. She vows to get him out. Roman saunters up and he is dismal. He might get bail eventually, but what they have against him is simply staggering. Marlena is angry about what happened. Roman is sorry. However, the feds have evidence and want to make an example of him, just like Bernie Madoff. Marlena suggests John rest, then quietly asks Roman to tell her he does not believe her husband is guilty. - Meanwhile, Bo and Hope want answers from the questionable cop who took John to the yard. The prisoner was not to be put among the general population. The cop makes a snide remark. Hope calls him a disgrace. Bo wants him suspended without pay. The cop, however, smugly states the union will not allow it. Besides, everyone hates John Black. - Bo and Hope privately discuss the pension fund being gone because of Basic Black. Now many people are angry. John's investment division was doing well, which was why more money was poured into Basic Black, but then billions disappeared overnight! Bo sighs theirs is gone too. Hope assures him they will get it back and John will be proven innocent. It must have been someone else. Bo laments the feds suspect John took the money, as he needed it to shore up Basic Black. He read the file the feds have and he looks guilty as hell! Hope suspects there is some kind of conspiracy. This sounds too airtight. Bo points out the feds are not easily duped. Hope thinks it is still possible and suggests someone else must have embezzled the funds from Basic Black's investment division. Bo agrees he is innocent. Guilty people would not have come back to town. Hope adds the truth will comes out. "It always does," echoes Bo. But the folks who lost their life savings are still out for his blood! - Brady apologizes to Madison for having acted like a jerk. "Pompous jerk!" says she, but she accepts his apology. She will not tell Vic what happened, for she does not want to do business with Titan anyway. She suggests Brady use the money to buy his lady love a rose. Victor returns, hopeful she will accept the offer. Brady sighs she turned them down flat. Vic wonders how to sweeten the deal. Madison presents them with a document. This is her counter-offer. "What do you say, Titans? Do we have a deal?" Brady and Victor both take a long look at the offer. - At DiMera mansion, Nicole wants to know why EJ wants her for his PR person. He explains she knows him and can spin his strengths, hide his weaknesses. His entire life she has been the only person he could truly be himself with. She looks him in the eye and wonders what this is really about ... - Roman and Marlena confer in a room at the station. She is relieved to hear Roman does not think John is guilty. She explains that John's wealth was not the same and the authorities have used that to make him appear to have had a motive. Roman states it will take time, but John will be proven innocent. He encourages her to hang tough, as they have endured worse. Marlena wishes this could be behind them and their life would go back to being a beautiful dream. - Bo and Hope are listening to calls received about John. One sounds like a death threat. Bo fears there are a lot of folks out there like that. They need more guards assigned to protect him when he is transported to the courthouse.
