He feels he did it well and Nicole accepts the copy. Since he took away her speech writing duties, she now wishes to resign. They had a deal! He, however, would rather discuss the other night. She blows him off. He reminds her he poured out his heart to her after they made love. Nicole insists she has learned her lesson but he states he knows the real Nicole, the one he made love to at night and in the morning. Nicole notes they were stuck in a snowstorm. Nothing has changed. He gets closer and assures her that both he and the situation have changed. He places his arms around her and gently urges her to try and let them make it work. Nicole pulls away, takes something from her bag, and solemnly hands it to him. EJ's face falls. "Divorce papers." Indeed. She has decided it is high time they made it official that their marriage is over. EJ is stunned into silence. - Austin and Carrie thank Sami and Rafe for letting them stay at the loft. They are going to a hotel room they finally found. Austin notes it will be nice to have some alone time. Carrie is looking forward to some rest and relaxation before the trial. Rafe drawls he himself has something planned for tonight at the pub. He will fill in Sami later. The kids present their aunt and uncle with a homemade card. A few more pleasantries and they are gone, luggage and all. Rafe is utterly thrilled and yells to break open the champagne! He assumes Austin and Carrie must be happy to go too. He is ready to have some fun and so are the hyper kids. - Brady is at the office, talking on the phone about fuzzy biz projections. Madison now enters and needs his advice. He teases they have ground rules. She suddenly wonders why he is at work, as his father is scheduled to go on trial tomorrow. He should be with him! She tries to reason with him and he sighs. She offers to accompany him for moral support. Brady is not sure why she cares. Because she senses he cares about his father more than he dares to admit. She turns to leave and warns if he does not go, he will be the kind of guy who turns his back on his father. That is definitely not the guy she wants to know! - At the townhouse, John paces and drawls the prosecution is going to come after him with everything they have got. Marlena has an idea. They can order out and watch Ghostbusters! He calls the idea a nice try but he believes he is going to prison and wants his last night of freedom spent out on the town with his wife. Marlena wants him to stay in. He appears surprised. When Brady and Madison show up at the door, John exclaims he is glad his son is there. Marlena and Madison smile as the two tough guys embrace. Brady looks ready to cry. - At the pub, Rafe and Sami enjoy ale together as the kids play. He just felt like a celebration. He tells her she is all he has ever wanted and she says ditto. They kiss happily. Rafe now has baseball cards, a hat and jersey from Johnny's fave team for the tyke. He yells that is way cool! Rafe wonders if Sami would like to see John. It would be nice to show her support to him. Caroline is closing the pub tomorrow morning so John and Marlena can join family and friends here. Sami is still not so convinced of his innocence. Rafe urges her to show her support. For him. He hopes she will think about it. Sami sticks out her chin. - As Austin and Carrie settle in at the hotel, he confesses he never should have given up their room in the first place. While she was away, things became rather tense at the loft. He is not exactly Rafe's favorite person. Carrie has found Rafe an easygoing guy. Austin wants to help his wife relax and suggests a French massage, then driving up to the lake - or they could hang out at the square. Carrie thinks he is being sweet. Austin just wants her to know she is more important to him than any trial. "I just love you so much." They kiss and Carrie smiles she is not in the mood for a drive. He is glad to hear it and they start to make out. - At DiMera mansion, EJ cannot believe Nicole would shut the door on them. He is exasperated about the bad publicity it would cause before the election. Nicole explains she only wants his signature on the petition. She will wait to file until the election is over. He refuses to give her his bloody signature. Nicole persists. She wants them to know where they stand. EJ smiles he wants it to work but she blurts out the marriage should never have happened! She cries where she wants him to sign and looks away. First he demands an answer. Did their night together mean nothing to her? He dares her to tell him it meant nothing. She retorts it was what it was and exclaims did he think she would have forgiven him for all those bad times in the past?! He insists some of them were good times and reminds her he recently even dressed up like Elvis for her.
