HOPELESSLY DEVOTED!

PART 1

- At the pub, stressed Sami hastily writes. Kayla approaches and asks if
all is well, as she has not touched her salad. Sami is curious why she did not tell them she was coming! She felt the need to help out Caroline and just came! Son Joey is upstairs. The two gals catch up. Kayla is glad that Sami's kids are alright. Austin enters and is elated to see her. Kayla goes to get him a beer. Austin sits down and teases Sami about her not getting her way look. Who is she mad at this time? She is admittedly annoyed that she and Rafe cannot renew their wedding vows at the church. Austin is baffled. Why the hurry, since they only just tied the knot anyway? The holiday, she exclaims, are a symbol of rebirth. Kayla pipes up that it will be meaningful to them to renew their vows. Sami is soon ready to leave. Austin compliments her for changing and becoming the person she always wanted to be. He can see her running her own company one day. Maybe Rafe does bring out the best in her but it was always there! Sami smiles and they walk out together. Kayla watches after them, though her eyes narrow.
- At the loft, Carrie is interested in what Rafe is doing. He is examining the photograph of John in the café. He suddenly states he was wrong
and John really was at the café after all! Carrie gets frustrated. Rafe continues. John was at the café, but he was there at a different time than the prosecution claimed! There were no shadows, as the café awning was not yet there, which means this picture is from years ago. The bad guys did not realize that in the past, there had been no awning. They will share the good news with John together!
- At the town square café, Chad meets Gabi, in order to borrow her political science notes. They are seated at a table together. She suggests they study together and gushes he saved her life! He notes it really put things into perspective. Gabi agrees. Lately she has been thinking about her life and future. He wonders if she has second thoughts about Will.
No, but she is ready to move on now! She helps him study and decides
he already knows everything. She remarks it seems strange to be in college, as they were just recently in high school dating. She learned
much from having a relationship with Will. All that matters is what two people share, regardless of the crazy world around them. Chad gets a faraway look in his eye and makes a comment about a guy making her heart skip a beat, though he clearly has another girl on his mind ... He flashes back to kissing Melanie and gets flustered. Gabi wonders if he
has Abigail on his mind. Chad uncomfortably clears his throat and says no.
- At the house, Abigail opens an envelope left for her. It is the journalism award she was supposed to accept. Mel is with her and is sorry they had to miss the ceremony. How things have changed since then! Jen walks in and Abigail notices she is upset. Jen laments Dan ended their relationship tonight. Mel stares. She will go check on her dad. Jen suggests she give him time but Mel is miffed. Jen explains it was a hard situation. Abigail
is sorry. Jen thinks she should feel sorry for Daniel, whom she still loves. Maybe they can at least remain friends. She does not want to lose him from her life. Abigail looks down and sighs she can relate. Jen pries. Is
she referring to Chad? Abigail stammers he is perfect. However, she
might have met someone else. Melanie stares in disbelief. Jen is equally surprised. Abigail gasps that there is this man she knows already and he makes her feel amazing. Mel's head appears to be spinning. Jen points
out they could still be in shock after what transpired. This is no time to make a decision. Even Jen feels the pressure and has decided to talk to Marlena. Abigail thinks she should go see Marlena too. Jen agrees and asks who her daughter's mystery man is. Abigail blinks. She will not say, and also swears Mel to secrecy. She would rather die than hurt her Chad! She admits she has feelings for two guys but does not want to stay away from man number 2. He takes her breath away. "It just happened!" Jen understands. Perhaps it is the real deal.
- Austin returns to the hotel room, none too happy that Carrie is nowhere to be seen. He glumly takes a wrapped present from under the bed and frowns.
- Meanwhile, Rafe and Carrie share an impulsive victory hug. Enter Sami. Her eyes widen as she takes in the embrace!
- Mel leaves a frantic voice mail for Dan to call her back and then settles into an armchair, listening as Jen warns Abigail to proceed with caution. Mel observes. Abigail points out Chad never hurt her, except when he kissed Mel, but he thought she was really her so that does not count. What should she do? Mel flashes back to Chad enlightening her about how he knew he was not kissing Abigail but continued anyway. Abigail suddenly asks her for advice. What does she, as her best friend, feel she should do? Mel is momentarily speechless ...
- Rafe updates tense Sami that thanks to Carrie, they will be able to exonerate John. And they also have her to thank for helping the kids yesterday. Sami bitterly states no one bothered to call her. Carrie thanks Rafe again and departs. Sami busies herself with the mail and asks how
he got the kids to bed. Rafe drawls Carrie read Sydney a princess story five times. He notes Sami seems mad. She is indeed. In fact, she has bad news. The church is unavailable Christmas eve so they will not be able to renew their vows. Rafe suggests they try it in the new year. Sami insists
it must be Christmas, so it will show a new start. Rafe is curious why she is so bothered and in such a rush to do this. Sami cringes ....
