They make for the town square and he leads her to the skating rink for a skating date. She gets an unexpected call from Jack and Dan suggests she take it. She does. Dan sits and listens to her happily talking. Jen gets back to him and explains Jack was asking about Abigail. He also told her to thank Dan for helping him get through that PTSD episode. Dan remarks he went through something awful in that Afghan prison. She is optimistic about his prognosis, as he is now getting help. Jen returns with their cocoa and he pretends he was hindered in undoing the knot by a phone call. - John sits in his cell. Marlena shows up with a picnic basket. They will be having supper alone! He joins her at the cell bars and is moved. They sit side by side, even though the bars are separating them. She lights the candles and feeds him. He suspects Roman had something to do with this. Marlena points out even his guard was won over by him. Just like the rest of Salem will be. She declares he is the finest man she has ever known. He strokes her arm. She swoons. They discuss the trial. John vows to pay back all of the money that was stolen. Marlena becomes solemn. She tells him that Carrie and Rafe might be able to prove the incriminating photograph was doctored, so ... She suddenly realizes he already knows. John drawls he would still need a miracle. Meantime, she should be planning for the rest of her life. He takes her hand and caresses her arm with his lips. She assures him she is keeping busy, as she might be heading up the psychiatric residency program at Salem U. He is glad and does not want her to feel the least bit obligated to him. Marlena emotionally enlightens him. This is devotion and she will be by his side until the day she dies! He just wants her to be happy. She insists she is happy with her heart filled with love for him. She also hopes he will agree to let her do what she must to get him out. John becomes suspicious and a frown creases his brow. What is she not telling him? - In Brady's office, sexy jazz music plays as he and Madison sit down to enjoy their wine and food. They are on track again and he murmurs that underneath that tough exterior, there is one amazing woman. He too understands what it means to be guarded. He praises her for caring when Johnny went missing. He likes everything about her. She implies she has been waiting a long time for a man like him! She drinks more wine and teases him for stabbing the food with his chopstick. He takes her hand as she assures him she wants to see where this will lead, though she might pull back on occasion. He wonders about her official stance on dating coworkers. She wants him to forget she ever mentioned it. They stand up and Brady puts on a song. "You're my very breath ..." croons the female singer.
