Up in the afternoon of December 28 INTO THE FIRE! - John walks in on shirtless Brady passionately kissing Kristen in her black bra on the table. Tawdry alert! He stares in shock and finally finds his voice. ”What in God’s name is going on here!” Kristen, now standing, smirks. Brady, now standing, fastens his pants and defiantly drawls he already knows! Kristen pulls up her tights. John sarcastically states he thought Brady and his date would like to join them tonight. He growls about manners, then wonders what Kristen thinks of his brilliant double date idea! He sarcastically invites the happy couple for cocktails. Brady grabs his shirt and asks him not to play games. Angry John wants his definition of games “after you zip up your fly!” he rages and storms out, slamming the door. Brady instructs frazzled Kristen to wait right here and goes after him. Kristen gasps it was not supposed to happen like this, but reassures herself who the hell cares, cos this really is happening now! She messes her already messed hair. - In front of the pub, after Kate tells Will she trusts not Nick, he asks why. She swears him to secrecy and complains she made that genius ex con a lucrative offer only to be turned down. Will finds itt odd. She adds he wants to play her off against Sami. And then he left their meeting. Will takes it all in. She now wonders whether Will trusts him. He gets a faraway look in his eye. He would rather not trash Nick and get caught in the middle of a mess, as Kate tends to overreact regarding anything or anyone connected to his mom. He goes on to suggest that perhaps Nick is only trying to do the best for his family. He does not desire to ruin things for him and Gabi. Kate senses he knows something that could. Will flashes back to their paternity secret, Nick referring to him as some gay boy. His eyes are filled with pain. Kate presses him to share what he knows. They sit on a bench. Will explains he only knows that Nick is trying to do what he must to take care of Gabi. Kate muses he had no choice. Will points out he stuck by Gabi. Kate questions why he is defending him. Will’s concern is Gabi, who needs to be looked after. Kate decides she could accept him as a driven, ambitious young man who wants to look after his family, but hopes he will not go off the rails again. Will assures her that he will not. Kate assumes Will’s concern is for the baby, as he knows firsthand how tough it was to be raised by his mother alone, only to be used in a game of tug-of-war. She assures him the father of Gabi’s baby will indeed have a good job. He thanks her profusely and excuses himself. - At the church, guilt-ridden Gabi is ready to confide in Father Eric about the paternity of her baby. She confesses that they have been lying to him! He patiently explains lies can be forgiven. He seeks the truth … Sami suddenly bursts in to discuss the wedding and snaps it seems she is just in time, given Gabi’s unhappy face. She refuses to leave when Eric asks her to and hopes her brother did not hurt her feelings. Gabi explains the problem is her. Nick enters and also notices her upset demeanor. Gabi gasps they must tell Father Eric the truth! Sami stares. So do Eric and Nick. - Marlena sits on the park bench with a woeful sigh. “Dear God what have I done!” She flashes back to sending John over to Brady’s office, their past disagreements. She now stands up and takes out her phone, determined to avert the disaster. She leaves an urgent message for John to call her stat! Hope comes along and asks what is the matter. Far too much! Hope wants to know all about it. Marlena explains she told John to go to Brady’s office, knowing he would probably be there with Kristen in a compromising position. Hope actually thinks that could be a good thing. Marlena, however, feels she should have forewarned him. Hope realizes she has regrets. Marlena exclaims she should have warned him his son was having an affair with his psychotic ex! Hope responds that if Chelsea were behaving badly, she would have no qualms about telling Bo. Marlena admits there were reasons for her silence, one of which was rather self-serving, hence her regret. Hope assures her John would have learned the truth eventually. Poor Marlena now gets a headache so Hope leaves to pick something up for her. Moments later, Kristen comes around the corner with a crazed smile. “Fancy bumping into you here!” she cackles. - Adrienne enters the coffee house to wish hard-working Sonny an early Happy New Year. He jokingly wonders if she returned the chandelier earrings Victor’s assistant selected for her and then notices she is wearing the scarf he and Will gave her for Christmas. She loves it. He informs her Will chose it. Adrienne smiles lovingly. “Watching you two together, I can’t believe I ever doubted him!” Sonny stares and she wonders what is the matter. He assures her that this is not about Will, then asks how she deals with papa Justin Kiriakis dealing with unsavory characters. Adrienne points out if she saw his behavior was changing because of them she would do something. However, that has not happened. She adds there are people in her life who make her crazy too. She assumes there is someone in Will’s life making Sonny crazy. He admits it but will not elaborate. She explains the most important thing is to keep things good between himself and his loved one and strokes his face. Sonny is grateful. - Nick gently states he does not know what Gabi means. Eric insists Sami leave now. She hugs Gabi, says to hang in there, for they are all on her side, and grudgingly goes. The three sit down and Gabi explains to Nick that whatever they say in the presence of the priest shall be confidential. Handsome Father Eric confirms as much. Nick sighs. Gabi insists she wants things out in the open! Outside the door, Sami runs into Will and updates him on Gabi saying something about not lying. She stops Will from bursting in. Eric is already angry. In addition, she wants to know what is going on. Will snaps it is not her business and proceeds to send Gabi a text message, hoping she will get it before all hell breaks loose … - Outside, Brady catches up with John, who is still enraged. He concludes his misguided son was still grieving over Madison and his evil almost stepmother manipulated him into getting into bed with her. He implores him to tell him he is right.
