SO THIS IS CHRISTMAS!

- At Horton Town Square, Father Eric has just finished helping Johnny and Ally assemble their shiny new scooters for a test run. He sits with Sami, who is wearing a bright red coat, and praises her as a good mom, though she nervously called after the kids to be careful. They now discuss his priestly position. She hopes he is happy. He feels he knows where
God wants him to be. For now, that is. Sami sighs she wishes she could say the same thing. Eric is intrigued. Why is she not happy? Her kids are wonderful. She laments her kids have had 3 different fathers but now have none. Eric urges her to enjoy this great Christmas day.
- Sonny ventures to Horton house again, to profusely thank Will for the celebration last night. It was fun and the Horton experience amazed him  beyond his wildest dreams. Will glances up at the mistletoe they are standing underneath. Sonny blushes and grins. The pair proceed to kiss under said mistletoe. Julie and Doug happen along in their coats. She chuckles if one leaves town a while, one certainly misses a lot. Gabi and Nick also survey the scene. Julie clears her throat with a smile. The guys are sorry. Doug  and Julie laugh what for? They know all about mistletoe and magic! Exit Doug and Julie, headed for the hospital party. Nick and Gabi are about to follow. Nick makes a snide remark about leaving them to do their thing, but Will stops them. Gabi hopes there is no problem but Will points out there is! It is not an easy situation they are in, However,
as it is Christmas, he hopes they can all get along for this one day. Gabi agrees. Nick adds maybe they could even go for a few days. They now exit for the hospital gathering.
- At the Kiriakis mansion, Dan is getting off a video call with Mel. He hands the earphones to Maggie and Abigail. He now updates glowing Jen that his daughter is doing well. Her Christmas is almost over, given the time difference. He gushes theirs is about to start. Jen giggles she thinks
so too. Maggie and Abigail now get ready for the hospital party. They must get the gifts. At the same time, Dan and Jen confess they did not
get each other a gift. He asks if she would like to go on a date tomorrow. She happily accepts. He calls that the best gift and is about to kiss her when Victor pops his head in. Henderson has the car running! And so
they depart.
- Billie ends a Christmas call with daughter Chelsea at the coffee house. Lucas comes in from the cold and appreciates the latte she ordered for him. Together they await Kate, who called the family meeting. Kate waltzes in and announces she bears positive news. She wishes her kids a Merry Christmas, then informs them she is still in remission. It has now been four years! Lucas and Billie are pleased. Kate adds she intends to look to the future, not the past. Lucas suggests Kate and Billie both join him at Jen’s house party instead of spending the day in a hotel room. They are family, after all. They express some reservations until  Lucas quips if Gabi Hernandez can get an ornament, then surely they can go to that Horton party! They all laugh and agree on it.
- Shirtless Brady is in bed with Kristen, marveling at their togetherness. He kisses her again. Knock knock! Chad and EJ loudly wish their sister
a Merry Christmas. Kristen and Brady scramble. Once Brady has made his great escape, she throws on her robe and opens the door, pretending she did not sleep well last night. EJ suspiciously wonders why. She claims she was contemplating things, like God’s plans for her in Salem. EJ wonders wot she concluded. That if she keeps doing the same she is
now, it will all fall into place. The brothers are there to exchange gifts, among other things. Chad’s lifetime gift of sugar free lattes is appreciated. EJ now hands him their gift and it is major – his very own DiMera corporate credit card! Chad says no. EJ puts it in his pocket regardless. Kristen argues he deserves it as he has suffered the liabilities of being a DiMera. But he should not be thanking them … Kristen turns on her computer. The monitor shows Stefano seated in a leather chair, fireplace behind him, a Santa hat on top of his patriarchal head. He waves his
cigar, a twinkle in his eye. “Ho ho ho Merry Christmas!”
- At the hospital, Abe accepts a glass of punch from Kayla and thanks
her for inviting him with Theo. They belong here. Abigail emerges from the elevator. Cam makes eyes at her. She whispers Merry Christmas He grins her too, then takes little Theo and Joe off to admire a gingerbread house. Meanwhile nurse Maxine muses she had assumed Doug would read the Christmas story. He and Julie point out that Dr. Tom Horton’s granddaughter Jen should do the honors. Jen arrives and disagrees.
Maggie steps up with Victor and insists she would be perfect. There are still new memories to be made. Dan is mighty proud and gives Jen a squeeze. Maggie gets the book and Jen takes her seat to read to the children. Cam and Dan watch as she praises the doctors at the hospital to the child patients. Smiling Abe and Kayla listen.
- Sami thanks Eric and adds what he said helped. He doubts it and alludes to her humoring him. She hits him like when they were kids. Brady shows up all smiles and greets the kids too. Sami teases him about having on the same clothes as yesterday. Ring ring! Tis Kristen, summoning him back
to her lair. Only Brady sees the message. Sami laughs he was saved by
the bell. Eric hopes they will see Brady at the Hortons today. He replies he will try and make it. Sami explains to Eric that Lucas is taking Ally
and she will be busy hanging out with the other two kids. Brady thinks that sounds good and happily leaves. Sydney now wonders who brought her the penguin she is holding – Santa or Rafe. Sami explains it was a bit of both.
- Stefano is sorrrrry he could not be present in person. It is the next best thing. EJ mutters it might even be betta. Stefano continues. Alexandra would be thrilled to see the three of them getting along. He loves them more than they know. Father phoenix wishes his beautiful children a Merry Christmas and heartily laughs ...
- Kristen later closes the door to Chad, who has gone on his way, and suggests EJ must want to visit with his kids hint hint!  EJ first wishes to present her with what he is handling as a veritable DiMera heirloom. He opens the box and she stares at the medallion of the holy family. He explains Alexandra gave it to him in the hopes he could find betta angels. She thanks him and promises she will cherish it. He hopes so as he cherished Alexandra. He is glad to have another sista in his life and hugs her.
- As Jen reads the Christmas story, Julie is moved to tears. Doug and Maggie muse it certainly brings back memories. When it is over, Doug leads the gang in Silent Night. Maggie congratulates Jen, then exclaims
the kids must stay for a surprise. Here comes Santa Claus Victor. “Ho ho ho! Merry Christmas!” he cackles and hands out gifts. Doug and Julie leave to prepare for the house party. Abigail compliments her mom on how good she was. Dan holds Jen from behind and alludes to loved ones never going away. Maggie grins she hopes Jen convinced Dan to join
them at the Horton house for more good cheer. Dan stands with his arm around her and grins he would not miss it.
- Sami assures petulant Sydney she will get a scooter one day and frowns at her phone, yearning to call Rafe. All of a sudden, Sydney races up to daddy EJ, who lifts her in his arms and also pats Johnny on the head. It brings a smile to her lips.
- At Horton house, Julie is somewhat surprised when Lucas arrives with guests Kate and Billie. Doug graciously advises them  to make themselves  at home. Kate helps out by answering the residence phone, surprised that it is Bill.“It's Kate. Merry Christmas to you too!” Billie stares at Chelsea’s ornament on the Horton Christmas tree. Julie assures her she is welcome here always. Billie asks if she needs help in the kitchen. Julie laughs about paring knives and they make for the kitchen together. Kate hands Lucas the phone for a moment. Just when the call with Bill has ended, Will and Sonny arrive. Lucas warmly greets Sonny and is glad he made it. Sonny exclaims these Horton parties are on another level than his family’s parties. Santa Vic appears in costume and Maggie explains to the hyper kids that he is really just Santa’s helper. The door opens again. Enter
Dan and Jen. Lucas solemnly notes she missed a call with papa Bill, who was worried about her. Lucas gives Dan the evil eye. Jen admits it has been a hard Christmas though a good one in some ways. Lucas continues to stare but bites his tongue.
- EJ admires Johnny’s scooter and sits with Sydney and penguin. Sami informs him that Santa and Uncle Eric helped assemble the scooter. He now notices the penguin. Sami calls it a long story. She asks EJ if Santa brought him what he wanted this Christmas. He confesses he was hoping he would be able to have … clarity. About what? He stammers about the thing between the two of them and gives her a charmingly uncertain Hugh Grant kind of look. “I was just wondering where you see that going?” Sami peers up at him ...
