IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE

- Pictures of notable Hortons past and present adorn the mantelpiece. Dapper Doug and Julie arrive from their late flight and Jen hugs them as they heartily wish her a Merry Christmas. They almost didn’t make it! Nick comes in and wishes Aunt Julie a Merry Christmas – or not when he perceives her grimace! She has heard about him and Gabi and has to ask … is he really ready for such a commitment, considering all that he has been through? Meanwhile, by the festive Christmas tree, Doug asks how Jen is doing. She makes a joke about not missing her appendix, then solemnly states she is thankful for the love around her. However, she misses JJ something awful. Doug visited with him in London and gives
her the kiss he promised. Jen declares they are blessed with their friends and family. Nearby, Nick assures Julie he loves Gabi like crazy and they are happy. Julie decides then she is happy for him too. Jen soon opens
the door to Lucas and Ally. She races ahead to look for presents. Lucas
is sorry about that. Jen is glad Lucas came. He wishes her a Merry Christmas and only happiness for the future, his eyes filled with remorse. They hug on it.
- Nicole almost drops a poinsettia at the town square. Brady saves the
day and she hugs him as they wish each other a Merry Christmas.
Kristen, who has arrived with EJ, gives him a strange look.
- At the festive Kriakis mansion, Maggie teases Victor he cannot have a cookie until they get to Jen’s house but he wants something sweet and settles for a kiss! Abigail starts to walk out with some bakes goods and runs into Dan. She was hoping to talk to him about her mom. He hopes the fair widow is alright. Quite so! Abigail smiles if the good doctor makes her happy, it is fine with her. He breathes a sigh of relief and she exits with the cookies.
- Father Eric places the baby Jesus figurine in the church manger as
he readies for his first midnight mass ever. Marlena and Roman arrive bearing a gift for him! He is touched by the beautiful vestments, which he intends to wear for midnight mass. Marlena gushes they are very proud and embraces her son.
- Halfway around the world, Hope is seated on a sofa bed with little
Ciara, who was not sure what to give her mommy. Hope thinks the best gift is being here with her and Shawn, Belle, Claire, and Bo, She calls out to Bo that they will be down in a few minutes and hugs her daughter.
- At the coffee house, Sonny gets Christmas embrace from mama Adrienne as Justin grins. She hopes Will is coming. Will now arrives. Justin and Adrienne are thrilled he will be going Greek today. Adrienne gushes he is practically part of the family when he talks Greek cookies.
- Rafe eventually gets the nerve to enter the pub. Sami is amazed he got the elusive penguin for Sydney, then wonders what is the matter. He pretends all is well. Gabi reminds him they must get their tamales to the Hortons. They have somewhere to go and therefore cannot stay. Sami hopefully asks whether he will be attending midnight mass.
- EJ teases Kristen about thinking of John. She claims she has found a way to prove to him she is no threat to him or his family. How so? She quips she decided to get into bed with Brady! EJ winces for a moment, as if telling himself she could not have meant that literally …
- Justin, Adrienne, Will, and Sonny happily arrive at the Kiriakis mansion. Flustered Maggie remembers the eggnog. Sonny regrets his brother had
to work and could not make it home this year. Will assures him there is next year. Sonny agrees. Adrienne admires the happy pair to Justin, who recalls how they too got off to a rocky start when they were young. Vic pours the drinks and  asks Daniel if he will be joining them at the Hortons later. Not tonight. Justin hopes he did not ruin the surprise present from himself, Dan, Bo and Brady! Victor is pleased to hear he will be getting a present. Daniel is curious about when exactly the unveiling will be. Justin explains Brady will be bringing the surprise. The Greek tycoon impatiently wonders where he is.
- Nicole informs Brady she will be working for Christmas and asks him
to give Sydney a kiss for her. Kristen and EJ approach. The introductions are made. Kristen coldly admits she has heard a great deal about Nicole! She casually adds she has a biz plan she wants to give to Titan as soon as possible. Brady casually replies he has family business but promises they will catch up later. He now leaves for the Kiriakis mansion in a hurry. When EJ and Kristen start to walk away, Nicole asks EJ to stop as she would like a word.
- Sami is disappointed to hear Rafe and Gabi will be attending midnight mass at the Church of the Holy Cross. She suggests Rafe come see the kids tomorrow. He drawls he took an extra shift. He now stops by the table where Sydney and Johnny are decorating cookies. Johnny touches his face. Rafe grins he knows Santa will bring them their heart’s desires
as they have been so good. He then stands up and tells Sami the same goes for her too! She whispers bye and woefully watches him saunter
out.
- Victor makes a toast in Greek as Brady rushes in with the gift. The Greek tycoon opens the box like a kid in a candy store. He examines the document inside and gasps. It is a deed to the first boat his grandfather owned, which he then lost in a poker game! He had tried to get it back
but despite his fortune was not able to. How did they manage …? Justin pragmatically notes it was Bo’s idea. He wishes his uncle a Merry Christmas. The guys are pleased he is so thrilled and congratulate each other. Adrienne kisses Justin and whispers that was well done. The Greek tycoon intends to phone Bo and Hope right away.
- Nicole implores EJ to give Johnny and Sydney a Merry Christmas wish for her. It would mean everything. He muses she already sent a gift by way of Chad. She notes they are the only children she ever had or will ever have, and wants them to know she is thinking of them. EJ walks away without a word. Upset Nicole grabs the poinsettia and takes off.
- Gabi and Rafe arrive at Horton house bearing tamales. Lucas is hungry. Julie congratulates Gabi and Nick, who stands with his arm around his beloved. She now asks Rafe where Sami is. He admits they are not together anyone. “Again?!” she gasps. Doug intervenes. “Julie!” She is sorry. Rafe, however, is not bothered ...
- Caroline is at the pub ending a Christmas call with Bo. Sami sits with
the kids. Johnny jumps up and runs to EJ as he enters with Kristen. He sits with the children and exclaims their creations look yummy enough to eat. Kristen excuses herself in a rather odd manner and departs. Sami and Caroline are amused. Kayla emerges from the kitchen and politely greets EJ. When Sydney takes him out to the kitchen to show him a gift, Kayla wants to know if he will be staying.Sami gestures uncertainly. “Surprise!”
- As Brady puts on his scarf to go to a “meeting,” he asks Dan if he will
be going to Horton house with the others, given that he saved the fair Jen’s life. Dan explains he will catch up with Justin and Adrienne instead. Brady exits and the medicine man sighs. Dan starts to take out his phone, then tells himself he will see Jen soon enough.
- At Horton house, Jen is hoping for a message on her phone when the Kiriakis clan arrive with Will. She wishes them a Merry Christmas. She soon admits to Maggie that she was just thinking of texting Dan. Maggie teases she knows he is thinking of her too! In the living room, guests mingle. Lucas thanks Sonny for joining them and hopes he will have a good time. Sonny is surprised. Will is pleased. Rafe now asks Nick about his wedding plans. He warns him that marriage is not easy, and a baby complicates things. Will watches the exchange and flashes back to the painful moment when Nick had laughed no one would suspect the baby’s father was some gay boy. Rafe steps away. Will stares at Nick and smiles a pained smile. Gabi approaches Sonny at the tree and wishes him a Merry Christmas. She starts to say she is glad he came but he hastily excuses himself and walks away from her, as if she has the plague. Gabi frowns.
- Kristen is drinking wine at the town square outdoor restaurant when Brady arrives for their meeting. She is ready to get down to business. Revved up Brady is more than ready!
- Downtrodden Nicole enters the church all alone and stares at a statue
of the Madonna and child. She touches her own tummy, where her baby once was, and gets back to tidying up for the mass. Father Eric enters, glad to see her. He credits their talk with helping him finally get a good sleep, then stops when he perceives she is crying. She confesses she wanted EJ to wish the kids Merry Christmas for her but it was too much. He asks her to help him by attending the mass but she thinks she is hopeless and returns to placing the prayer books on the seats. Father Eric insists she is not hopeless. She laments she once believed in miracles. Now she believes they are for others, certainly not her. She sits down
with a sigh. Eric sits down in the next pew and explains in the Congo he questioned why God made bad things happen. However, it was some people who made bad things happen. There was still children’s laughter. God is with you always. She quips she will go home to drown her sorrows in a martini and takes off. Eric is concerned. Little does he know ...!
