Up in the afternoon of December 13 WAITING TO EXHALE! - Replay of bride-to-be Gabi saying she is about 12 weeks, Hope noting Nick had said it was more like around 6. Gabi plays it cool. They all stare at her. She stammers she is about 12 weeks but Hope was sure he said 5. She advises the young girl to find out. Rafe suspiciously asks why she and Nick have different due dates for the baby. He appraises her with his investigative eyes. Gabi cringes. She stammers they are not sure but maybe she can find out from the doc. Rafe sternly says not maybe. She jumps up when Nick arrives. Hope asks how far along Gabi is. Nick repeats 5 or 6 weeks and Rafe grumbles Gabi said 12. What is the deal! Nick suddenly sighs they must tell the truth. They have not told them everything. Gabi tries to prevent him from continuing. Sami hears the word lie and mutters “Oh boy!” Nick announces she is indeed 12 weeks pregnant but he was trying to protect her. Hope realizes that means … Nick admits they got together as lovers sooner than everyone thought. Sami looks shocked. Rafe looks ready to hit somebody. Gabi looks relieved. - At Salem University Hosp, a nurse informs Dan that Jen forgot her compact and she thought he might want to give it to her when he sees her … He solemnly suggests she put it in her office cos he will not be seeing her anytime soon! Moments later glam Kate emerges from an exam room, rummaging for her cell phone in her handbag. Maxine congratulates her for almost reaching the 5 year anniversary of being cancer free. Family oriented Kate lets Maxine see a photo of grandson Parker. Dan stops in his tracks upon hearing the name of the boy he was once led to believe was his son with Chloe. Kate heads back to the exam room to find her phone. Maxine is called away. The photo has been left on the counter. Dan cannot resist the temptation to sneak a peek. He picks it up and wistfully looks at the boy who was once his. Kate returns. He hands back the picture of her cute grandson and excuses himself. Kate seems to understand and says nothing. The mother in her goes after him as he pours himself coffee. “You still think about Parker don’t you? You haven’t forgotten him.” Dan emotionally replies he shall never forget Parker. He assures her he knows that Parker is not his son. Kate is surprised to hear he has not seen any pictures of him at the Kiriakis mansion, despite the fact that he is Victor’s grandson. Perhaps Victor and Maggie know it would be too hard for him. Kate asks when he last saw him. When Chloe left with him for Chicago. Kate had not realized... She informs him she is in remission thanks to his work, and for that she is eternally grateful. Therefore, she wants to make him an offer should he be interested. “Do you want to know more about Parker?” Dan's face lights up like a Christmas tree. - At the hectic coffee house, Will says a friendly hey to boyfriend Sonny and wonders what happened between him and Gabi. Sonny is not exactly forthcoming. Will asks him to say something nice to her as she feels he does not like her. Sonny quips she is right, cos he does not, and gets back to work! Will is surprised and wonders why he feels that way. Sonny warns him she is a liar and also a user! He should not trust her! A frown creases Will’s brow. Where is that animosity coming from? Sonny states he has eyes … Will concludes he must have listened to Chad. Sonny snaps he has watched front row how Gabi dragged him into her baby drama. Will explains he is her friend. Sonny suggests one chooses one’s friends and urges him to get away from her and never look back! Will wonders if he is ordering him to stay away from her. Sonny sighs he is sorry but he was worried. Will defends Gabi as being loyal to him even when he did not deserve it, and adds she is a big Sonny fan. Sonny suggests sometimes you think you know someone but you really don’t as they changed. Will sarcastically mutters he hates it when that happens and walks off. - At Horton house, Jen flashes back to her groggy declaration of love to Dan in the cabin. “Oh no, what have I done!” Abigail asks if herbal tea would alright and wonders what is the matter when she perceives her mother covering her face with her hands. Jen assures her she is fine and anxiously stops her from calling Dan. She is just fine! Abigail asks what the problem is. Is there a problem with Daniel? Jen confesses to her daughter that on Smith Island, she actually told Daniel that she loved him. “Do you?” asks Abigail the romantic. - At the pub, cowboy Rafe takes a step closer to Nick and glares at him. “So how soon was it!” Nick talks love at first sight. Rafe growls it would have been his first day out of the joint? Nick explains they met here at the pub. Rafe growls the second day? Gabi wants her brother to stop. She insists Nick is a good person and she could feel it. “I bet he could feel it too!” exclaims Rafe. Hope cannot stop him as he accuses Nick of taking advantage of an innocent girl. Nick insists that is not how it was. Rafe leers not to say a word. Hope thinks Rafe has overstepped and stands between the two. Gabi agrees loyal loverboy Nick has not done anything wrong. Nick assures Rafe he loves his sister and wants to make a good home for her and the baby. Sami suggests they get back to their original focus - to create the wedding of Gabi’s dreams. Rafe cannot take it and starts to leave. Gabi follows him to the door. He scowls he cannot believe her, then storms out. Gabi’s face falls. Sami tries to salvage their sanity by pleasantly suggesting they plan the wedding on a different day. Hope readily agrees. Sami promises Gabi she will go after Rafe and talk some sense into him. Exit Sami on her mission. Gabi is grateful. Nick regrets lying to Hope. She understands but wonders if they might be rushing things. Nick kisses Gabi’s head and insists this is what he wants. Gabi too. Hope happily agrees love is grand. She hugs the young couple, and promises a beautiful wedding. - Sami comes across sulking Rafe by a bench and flowers. He is curious how she found him. She teases she followed the steam coming out of his ears. He glumly asks how Gabi is. Mortified about disappointing him. Rafe drawls he would have made things worse by sticking around cos he wanted to punch Nick in the face! He growls they had sex his first day out of the joint! What was Gabi thinking letting the guy pick her up! Sami suspects she was not thinking. There was so much drama and the explosions in the tunnels. Rafe blames himself for not being there for her and continues to criticize Nick for seducing her, taking advantage. Sami reminds him that Nick has stepped up. All that matters is they are in love. Rafe snaps that is not enough to make a marriage work and they should know! Sami softly calls that harsh. Rafe calms down. He does not blame her but sometimes it takes more than love to make a marriage work. She agrees there are no guarantees, though Nick and Gabi have it different. They are in love and do not have baggage, plus they are excited about the baby. There is much in their favor. Rafe glumly admits it could be. Sami urges him to support them.
