PART 1 A series of unexpected events take over the town square ... - Replay of Jack falling loudly into the cake when Dan starts to ask Jen to move in with him. They cannot believe it. "Jack!" gasps Jen when he waves hello. Mr. Devereaux now stands up covered in cake, announces he will be back shortly, and walks off. - John asks Marlena what she is thinking. How much she loves being home. He assumes she also hates that they cannot tells friends and family why they are really there. Indeed, but they can trust their family. John drawls they cannot break the news now, for he does not wish to ruin this evening for anyone. - Roman assures anxious Abe that he is the best mayor they ever had. Turns out he is presently unopposed. Lexie approaches. All of a sudden, Roman wonders what the hell that is! Stefano steps out of a limo and waves to the photographers. Marlena thinks he spells trouble and urges John to ignore him. "Impossible!" declares the former pawn. He gives the phoenix the evil eye, as he gathers round his own. Stefano asks Kate and EJ what he has missed. Kate gets sarcastic about the boring party and is glad to see him. Stefano charmingly decides to say hello to his old friends. He saunters over to John and Marlena. John wonders what he wants. To welcome him back home. He calls Marlena his lovely queen of the night. John says to go to hell. Stefano chuckles for the pair to have a good evening. "I know I will!" When he walks away, John mutters he is up to something. Of that he is certain. - Lexie is not thrilled to see her family crashing the party. Roman thinks they should ignore them. Lexie informs Abe she found the perfect place for his campaign HQ at the new town square. Marlena and John join Salem's first couple. They are both looking forward to the mayor's big announcement. Lexie smiles she also has something up her sleeve. She intends to give the first speech, and tell the good people of Salem why he is the best man. - Jack is now cleaned up and rejoins Dan and Jen. He takes a drink. Jen flies at him about his walkabout. Jack replies that he cannot talk in the presence of this guy. Jen insists Dr. Daniel Jonas is not going anywhere. Jack explains to Dan he wants a word with his wife, but Jen enlightens him. They are divorced! He is stunned to hear it. She reminds him he abandoned her, not to mention the blog and text message. He exclaims he did not know anything about that and he can explain. She accuses him of dropping off the face of the earth and calls him an egomaniac, a jerk who harmed their children with his abandonment. Jack attempts to get in a word edgewise. No luck. Abigail arrives with Chad and stands by her mother. Jack has missed her and reaches for his daughter. Abigail recoils and runs off. Chad stops her and hugs her. Jack implores his daughter to look at him. He is sorry. She wants to know why he came back now and accuses him of not being there when they needed him. Jack realizes she read his blog. He is painfully aware that he has explaining to do. Abigail cries he did not send them any email. They were worried and he was selfish. He cannot come back and pick up where he left off. Jack sadly whispers he never expected that or a lot of other things. Jen consoles her crying daughter. Jack insists he needs to talk to her. Jen has heard quite enough, however. Dan stops Jack from getting close to them. He agrees that Jen and Abigail need their space. Jack calls him some guy who tries to break up families. Jen wants Jack to go. Jack wants them to talk but Jen snaps he can talk to himself and leaves with Abigail. Dan follows. Jack wonders what Chad is looking at. Chad says nothing and walks away too. - Stefano enjoys his champagne in the company of his excited family. He wonders if anyone ever gave a thought to erecting a statue for him. EJ teases the townsfolk might erect an effigy. They all laugh. Stefano talks DiMera recognition. - Roman is ready for a toast. Lexie toasts Mayor Abe. Roman drawls the police department is behind him. John and Marlena join in toasts to Abe and the future. Abe and Lexie are told it is time and happily walk off to take their places. Rafe saunters over to John and Marlena. Marlena asks where Sami is. He assumes she snuck off to tell the children goodnight. - Kate and EJ stare as Lexie takes to the little stage to introduce Mayor Abe. Kate informs EJ he needs someone like Lexie in his corner. She is Abe's weapon in this war! Lexie thanks all for being there and praises Alice and Tom Horton for their donation which made the town square a reality. All applaud. She adds she is the wife of the esteemed mayor. Stefano is now seated with EJ and Kate and drawls Abraham does not deserve a woman like his daughter. She is a good public speaker, too! Lexie continues her speech. Abe is the best man to help Salem progress and grow for another 4 years. Abe proudly watches. Lexie adds Abe puts his heart and soul into his job. In the audience, the DiMeras are ready for the next surprise of the evening! Lexie approaches Roman and points out Abe worked with the Salem P.D. to bring the attacker of women at the pier to justice. All applaud. Lexie has more good news, including the fact that the city pension fund is at a surplus, thanks to an investment in Basic Black. She speaks of pride and how she is working to support Abe in his bid for another four year term. Stefano muses she is about due for a rude awakening. EJ quietly notes she will soon be upset with him. - John makes an ominous comment to Abe about things turning on a dime. - FBI Rafe gets a call from work. He stares. "What? You sure about this?" - Lexie proceeds to introduce Abe. She welcomes him to the podium and he walks up. John and Marlena exchange sorrowful glances, as they have other matters on their mind. - Elsewhere, Abigail is further bothered to hear from Jen that Jack made his grand entrance by falling into the cake. How could he do this today? Jen thinks it is typical of him. She did not really let him speak. Neither did his daughter and she does not want to. Dan and Chad quietly listen. Jen points out Jack will always be her father. He loves her very much. Abigail cries she hates what he has done to their family. Chad gently tells her he understands, but he is still her dad. Perhaps she just needs some time, space, and air. The young couple depart together so she can clear her head, after Jen promises her things will be alright, as they have each other. Once alone, Dan and Jen embrace. He wonders if she needs space too. She surprises him when she admits she does not want to leave. - Jack orders a double scotch at the bar and starts to drink. Adrienne sees him and they hug. She is thrilled and wonders if the family knows he is back. What is on his jacket? "Call it my just desserts," he laments. Jack admits he just kind of dropped in.
