WINNERS AND LOSERS!

PART 1

- At the town square, replay of Abigail saying Carrie is the purrrfect person to help her understand why her guy did what he did as Austin cringes, Jack listens, and Carrie encourages her. Jack now discreetly decides he and Austin should take a walk. Austin nervously starts to
leave but Abigail quips he should stay, since they work together. Carrie agrees a male point of view would be helpful. The guy who broke her heart might even be one of his students. He might know him!
- Lexie and Abe are outside the pub and she assures him the crowd was big at the polls. Abe appears dismal. Lexie looks through the window and spies Jen speaking with a man in a suit she has never seen working on his campaign. Meanwhile, inside the pub the man wants to know if Jen wants him to fix the vote! Jen whispers they cannot do it, for then Abe would not  be any different than EJ. The guy warns the exit polls do not appear in his favor. If she changes her mind, she knows where to reach him. Outside, Abe suggests to Lexie that Jen must be arranging an interview. Lexie makes a comment about him winning. She would not vote for EJ even for dog catcher! She gets paged and must go call the hospital. Once she walks away, Abe stares at Jen and her pollster. When the guy has exited, he enters, and deduces that her contact heard some bad news.
Jen laments he seems to be behind in the exit polls. Abe quietly curses. Jen assures him it is not over yet. He sighs. Lexie joins them and wants
an update. Abe sighs EJ is ahead in the exit polls. Lexie thinks it will change. Abe thinks they should accept the fact that he might lose. Lexie insists this town will not let her brother and father control the politics in Salem. She must step away to attend to a matter with Theo on the phone. Jen assures Abe that at least they fought the good fight. Lexie returns and insists her husband is certainly not ready to concede. Abe agrees she is right about that!
- At the mansion, dismal Stefano turns off the TV. EJ reassures him it
will end well. Nicole gets off the phone with a contact who will text her when they go live with the returns. Kate brings the phoenix some food. Nicole informs EJ that the exit polls are in his favor. EJ kisses her and
she gushes he will be the next mayor. Stefano grumbles she has not done anything to ensure that his son win! EJ sips his drink. Nicole insists EJ
did not need her to buy the election. Salem needs a mayor who can get things done. Kate advises her to stop campaigning. They already voted
for him. Stefano solemnly states time will tell and all they can do is wait. He is displeased that EJ saw fit to distance himself from him. EJ explains it was necessary. Nicole is later in the hall, on the phone, thanking Will. Kate approaches and she appreciates her giving Will a job, though Sami and her son would not approve. At least this way she is able to see her grandson regularly. And perhaps EJ will be a good influence. Nicole
wants to go freshen up. Kate stops her and adds that she too is a good influence on EJ, who has fallen in love with her. EJ in love is easier to
get along with. Nicole acknowledges that her once enemy Kate has been
a good influence on Stefano. The two women  realize are complimenting each other. "Oh my God!" they exclaim in unison.
- Back in the living room, EJ sits down beside the feasting phoenix and wishes they could put the sound back on the television. Stefano grumbles there is no breaking news. EJ realizes he was not happy to be kept out of things, but it was better for the family image if he at least appeared to have retired. EJ now scoffs he is not excited about being the mayor of
the dinky town. He is looking to go to governor from there. He recalls
the lawsuit and angrily adds if he finds out how John Black got out of jail ... Stefano suggests he not go there. EJ returns to gloating about Abraham losing. Stefano warns him not to forget that Lexie and Theo will require sensitivity when the results are in. Kate wonders when they will finally announce the winner. Nicole gets off the phone and says the winner shall be announced!
- Jen and Lexie are at the town square together. But where is Abraham and his driver and car? Jen hopefully states he must be working on his acceptance speech. Lexie is now very nervous about her family gaining a foothold in Salem. Jen encourages her to keep the faith. Jack happens by and grins there will be a victory party! Lexie walks off  to find Abe. Jen wonders where Abigail is. Talking to Carrie. Jack updates her that their daughter had her heart broken by a cad. Therefore, he felt she should
talk to Carrie. Jen thinks she should have talked to her mom. But Jack explains they still have issues and Carrie is neutral in this matter ...
- Austin sits by Carrie while Abigail starts to tell her tall tale of woe. She was still with Chad when she met her older man, and he got to her. He was interested in everything she had to say. She lost all track of time
when they were together and she was always thinking about him. It was not a schoolgirl crush. "I thought he was the one." Carrie asks if he said
he felt the same way. Abigail claims he did and then she saw him kissing someone else. Austin sinks in his chair a few inches. Abigail admits she knew there was another woman, though the guy led her to believe they were over. She believed he loved her but he was only after one thing!
She feels stupid. Carrie notes she was in love. Yes, for the first time. Carrie calls this older man an ass and asks Austin if he can believe it. He agrees the guy is indeed an ass!
- Back at the town square, Abe reappears. He now seems more upbeat about winning. He and Lexie share an embrace.
- At the same time, Nicole and Jen receive a call about the winner of the race for mayor. And Salem's elected mayor is ...
