DESPERATE MEASURES - Part 2 - EJ coldly announces he intends to expose Nicole as an unfit mother and get full custody thanks to her lies. Rafe wonders on what grounds. She tried to deny him his paternal rights. Nicole gasps he cannot. EJ warns he can and he will make sure his child grows up a DiMera! Rafe scoffs. Nicole stares in horror. Dan is later writing the labels for the test samples, which have been obtained. EJ is no longer present. Dr. Dan puts Nicole's mind at ease that the test did not hurt the baby and asks why Rafe wanted his DNA taken as well. Rafe thinks it will be a way to prove Nicole was not sure of the paternity. Nicole greatly appreciates his support. Dan walks them both out as he needs to see a patient. He is sorry, though the truth always has a way of coming out. And he should know! Nicole does not disagree. Dan will be in touch with the results soon and walks off. Rafe invites Nicole for a bit to eat. Ominous music is heard. Nicole claims she would rather be alone for a while. Rafe gives her a suspicious look, then kisses her on the head, and departs, leaving her conveniently alone at the office door! She reaches for the doorknob. A lab employee pushes his way in and she convinces the fellow that Dr. Jonas left to take some samples somewhere. He could take a long time getting back. The employee impatiently walks out. Nicole shuts the door and sits at the desk. She finds the key in the drawer to open the box containing the paternity test samples. She hastily peels off the labels and is ready to replace them. Just then the door opens and Dan stares. She has been caught in the act! - Stefano turns to Abe and informs him he promised Lexie they would all get along. Abe coldly reminds him he is the one responsible for her imminent death. It consumes him day and night that the toxins which caused her tumor were his fault. Stefano insists he had no idea evil Andre had her down in those caves, nor was he aware of toxic gases. Abe rages he is guiltier than Andre because he was the one who created that monster. Therefore, he holds him responsible for Lexie's death sentence! Meanwhile, Lexie stands at the top of the staircase, listening in shock! Abe rages on at Stefano. He is sickened also because she loves her father so much. Stefano starts to say he loves her but Abe cuts him off. He accuses him of causing the death of his own beloved daughter, his staunchest supporter. Stefano laments he does not know what he will do without her. Abe rages it might be karma for him, but for the rest of them ... he cannot imagine what it is like for them to have to lose her! Stefano growls he understands and admits it torments him that it might be his fault. Abe looks up and perceives Lexie standing at the top of the staircase. He exclaims and holds her when she descends. Abe now warns Stefano to get out for he has caused enough damage! Lexie cries and goes to embrace her father. The phoenix is in tears as they share their final embrace. Abe appears flabbergasted by the exchange. Stefano departs. Lexie the gentle soul feebly climbs back up the stairs without saying a word. - Will catches up with EJ at the town square and tries to argue his case. Stefano threatened him and also claimed he was doing EJ a favor. EJ doubts it and quips he ought to have come to him. Nervous Will reasons he had no choice. EJ steps forward and menacingly grumbles he had a choice. He should not have let his fatha play him like a little puppet. He now demands the keys to the car, the apartment and the mansion. For he no longer has a job! Will promises he is loyal. EJ snatches away the keys and sarcastically advises him to go find fatha, who must be laughing at how easy it was to manipulate him. Will has one more thing and hands him an envelope he had asked for. EJ takes it. - Sami is surprised to find Rafe at her apartment door. She is having a bad day. He is not there to criticize her but to see the kids. They are on play dates. Rafe realizes Sami is troubled and wonders if she would like to talk. Sami sighs and lets him in. He enters and wonders what is up, hopeful they can still have a civil conversation despite the fact that their marriage ended in disaster. Sami tells him her tale of woe about Will, who now seems to act like EJ is more important to him than she is. Rafe understands why EJ is the boy's top priority, for he has been like his champion for months. Sami petulantly points out she is his mother. Rafe somberly advises Sami to take a good look at why she loses the people who love her. Sami starts to bang in the kitchen and wants him to leave. Rafe mutters that is great. She will tell the kids he stopped by. He sighs "Please do" and leaves her alone to consider what he said. - In a seedy back alley, Will has just procured a gun. His eyes are wild and red. He pulls it out of the paper bag. "We'll see who has the last laugh, Stefano!" - At the town square, EJ quietly opens the envelope. He reads the report inside and growls he was right. "That son of a b*tch is the reason my sister is dying!" - Lexie slowly comes back downstairs. Abe is sorry she had to hear that. She is curious how long he has known. He suspected a few weeks and only received the proof a few days ago. Abe is at a loss for words. Lexie asks him to just hold her. He does. - Stefano staggers into the mansion a broken man. "Why? Why? Why?" he repeats and tosses a glass against the fireplace. It shatters and he sits down, gasping at his chess set. He knocks over a piece and then approaches a framed photograph of Lexie. He places it against his heart and breaks down in tears ... END |
