THE USUAL SUSPECTS - Part 2 - EJ casually claims he has no time to think of being the head of the family, given the shock. Sami reasons it will wear off and then he can run things the way he sees fit. She talks legacy for their kids. She praises his business ability and suggests he do what he thinks is best and change DiMera Enterprises for the better. Then they might have a chance. EJ is baffled. "We?" Sami gets uncomfortable, then stammers her "we" referred to them trying to raise their family together. Now they can do what is best for their kids. Once the murder has been solved, that is. Then they can all have a new life. - Abe has just been with little Theo and comes back to Lexie, who is admiring family photos. He wonders what she is thinking. That she and now also her father tragically will not be around for Theo. Abe sighs he understands why she wanted her father in their son's life. However, a part of him is relieved he will not be. Lexie proudly states he was Theo's grandfather. Abe reminds her he is also the one responsible for robbing them all of Theo's mother! He puts the photo album down. Abe is sorry for upsetting her. Lexie would like to say in defense of her father that he had no idea Andre would lock her in the dangerous tunnel. Abe argues it is still his fault and he shall never forgive him. Lexie whispers if she can let it go, then so should he. She implores him to make peace with it. Abe gets choked up. He declares he will never forgive that bastard! - Roman talks tough with Kate, wanting to know just why she failed to mention anything yesterday. Kate is reluctant to discuss. Roman explains he gets why she would be upset and hurt. Kate cries she was furious. He wonders if she was furious enough to go to the mansion and kill him. Kate looks down before continuing. She admits she is still furious but exclaims she would never murder a man she was still deeply in love with! Ian slyly peers through an opening of the slightly ajar door, his face a stony mask. Kate continues. She knows she should not have still loved him, but up until recent events, he had always been generous. Roman would not call it that. Kate recounts how he picked up the pieces after Bill Horton. Roman reminds her the services he had her perform were not legal or right. Kate recalls how after all the other men, she eventually found her way back to him. Roman remarks that she had no choice. She agrees they began as a business relationship, but it evolved. Roman does not approve of how he hurt her in the end and hates seeing her like this. Ian walks in and agrees. Roman informs a crying Kate to remain in town, for she must submit to a gunshot residue test. He sincerely hopes for her sake she did not do it. Kate cries that she did not. Once Roman and the lady cop have gone, Ian promises her they will deal with the police together. And the sooner she puts Stefano and their sordid history behind her, the better! After all, he was horrible and abusive. Kate gasps she knows and yet she loved him. Now he is gone and she feels sad and guilty. Ian reminds her she told the police she had not murdered him. He suddenly wants to know if she went to the DiMera mansion. She simply must tell him the truth. "Did you kill Stefano?" Kate diverts her teary eyes. - Lexie is now lying on the sofa. Abe gently removes the cold compress from her forehead. She gasps she has something important to say. He urges her to stay calm. She whispers that she could be easily angry at her father for putting her in that perilous situation with Andre. However, if she held onto anger, then her final days with her family would be filled with hurt and hatred. Life is simply too short. Abe kisses her hand and her forehead. She soon feels better and feebly starts to sit up. Abe senses something else weighs heavily on her mind. She sniffles that virtually every one of their friends could have wanted to see her father dead and they all have compelling motives. Abe notes that is part of Stefano's legacy. Ominous music is heard. Lexie quietly confesses that if one of their friends did it, she would rather not know. Abe agrees and holds her close as she stares ahead. - EJ listens at Sami's kitchen as she insists he could think of this time as a rebirth. EJ realizes she is right. He could make the DiMera name what he wanted it to be. He does have a few loose ends to tie up first. He grins, "Nothing too complicated." Sami smiles back. Roman now catches up with EJ at her apartment and suspiciously notes he has not been to the station to hound the police about what happened, nor has he taken matters into his own hands, as one would have expected. Sami wonders what he means. Roman stares him down. "You already know who the killer is, don't you, EJ?!" EJ stares right back ... END |
