She calls Dan on his phone and surprises him by being a few feet away. Sami hopes Rafe received her text of Gabi’s pretty wedding dress. He stammers it reminded him of her wedding dress, then he wonders where EJ went. To get them some special champagne. “Of course!” he scoffs. Sami points out that Rafe’s date appears to be Nicole. “What’s up with that!” she scoffs. Nicole follows EJ to the coffee house, pretending to be as drunk as a skunk, holding a glass of bubbly. EJ attempts to dismiss her but she will not be so easily dismissed. She grabs his bottle of special champagne and he orders her to give it back. She teases he must come and get it. He grabs it back but in the process she spills champagne on his white shirt. “Nikki!” he exclaims. She gleefully grins. “Oops!” Marlena is leaving another desperate message for John outside the pub. She runs into Father Eric, who is on his way to the men’s shelter with food. She laments she did something and will never forgive himself. John comes around the corner and he looks ready to explode. As it turns out, his phone was off. Marlena is beside herself with worry and hopes he is alright. He grumbles he needs a drink and to talk to her! Brady arrives at Kristen’s room. The deceiver starts to cry and throws her arms around him. She lies that John came to accuse her and he was out of control. She cries on his shoulder as protective Brady holds her, promising it will be alright. She smiles a wicked smile that he does not see, however, and he has no idea he is dealing with the devil! Jen has brought dessert for Dan. He thanks her and teases the crazies are out tonight. She muses she feels at home then. Their eyes lock and she gushes she there is no other place she would rather be. Sami shows Rafe more pictures and he is amazed. Sydney apparently loves her new penguin, whom she has named Rafe. He is touched. Sami appreciates the trouble he went to and praises him. “You’re gonna be a great dad.” He sighs sure and then thanks her for sending him the pictures. Nicole the lush tries to dry EJ as he removes his jacket. He urges her to leave him alone. He dries himself off and she flirts he used to have time for her. He holds her at bay and snaps she is drunk. She moans about having to live in a convent. She feels she is living like a nun! She tries to get close and he warns her to stop. He is not surprised she has gone off the deep end and advises her to stop scheming. He now realizes the time and heads off in a hurry, to get back before the stroke of midnight, but she snatches his jacket away, a glint in her eye. John downs his drink. Marlena knows what this is about as Brady informed her he walked in on his son with Kristen. He drawls it is not Marlena’s fault. He then angrily shares what Kirsten confessed. The she devil hates him and this is her revenge!! They suddenly decide they must find Brady and guess where he presently is ... Kristen softly tells Brady that John accused her of playing games. She is grateful that security heard too.Brady is stunned. “Did he attack you?" She sadly states he probably did not realize he had his hands on her. Brady is sorry he must have set him off by telling him about their relationship. Kristen muses it was the truth, though. Brady now complains that Marlena is not supportive and thinks he is incapable of judging her. Kristen pouts they need to see him for the man he has become. But how will this work? Brady promises with time it will all be fine and hugs her again. The town square gets noisy as the countdown to midnight begins. Sami and Rafe are standing together. HAPPY NEW YEAR! The confetti flies. Rafe impulsively takes her arm and pulls her toward him. “Oh Rafe," she whispers.” They kiss and kiss. By the romantic fireplace, Abigail has just won. Chad teases she cheated. She laughs she did not. They hear the fireworks outside. Tis midnight! They hug and he kisses her on the lips. Dan and Jen are alone in a dark room as the fireworks continue outside. Jen breathes she is not missing them after all as he gets close and kisses her. EJ is exasperated it is midnight. Nicole suddenly jumps on him and kisses him on the lips as he attempts to fend her off! Meanwhile Kristen decides Brady is right. With time everything will be fine. They hear the fireworks and she woefully pours the champagne. He assures her this is their happy new year. She agrees and they kiss. Brady muses it feels like a new start. She agrees. They passionately kiss. All of a sudden, a commotion is heard outside. Before John can be stopped by Marlena, he kicks down the door. “Get the hell away from her!” he thunders, his eyes dark with rage. Pause. Father and son are about to face off as never before ...
