SWEET LOVE!

PART 1

- Maggie is searching for her keys. Hope enters with them, having found said keys on the table on her way in. Maggie gasps she has misplaced her sunglasses and phone too! The redhead is evidently an emotional wreck. Mel enters and wants to talk wedding seating list. Has Maggie checked with Melissa? Maggie explains she has a meeting. She laments to Hope she has to tell her. "Melanie, honey, I just found out that I have another child!" Mel stares. Maggie, Mel, and Hope are now sitting as Maggie updates Mel on her stolen egg, the mystery child Alice told her about in the unfinished letter. Mel is shocked. Do they know who it is? Pause. Hope and Maggie look ready to cry. They do not have any answers.
Hope informs Maggie they should go. Mel assures Maggie her mystery child is so lucky to have her as a mom. They hug. Maggie invites her to come along.
- Jack and Jen walk outside and she is dismayed to discover the pub is closed. Indeed, says he, for their private party! He gallantly opens the door. "After you." He indicates their table spread with cookies, frosting, sprinkles, colored sugar. Jen sits uncertainly. Jack recalls how the kids used to love having cookies with their names on them. Jen thinks he is pushing it. He points out these are for their date. They will make fun cookies and deliver them to the kids who are stuck in the hospital for Halloween. Jen is impressed. Jack hopes she will consider this a real first date, like she is meeting a brand new guy, for that is what he is! Jen wonders if that would be realistic. She is not sure she can pretend they never existed before this. Jack asks her to humor him. She wipes some frosting from his finger. Jack grins. He is grateful for the life they had, though this moment feels like a second life. A do better! Jen watches as he babbles. He finishes by promising her if he is not the man of her dreams tonight, he will do everything he can to become him tomorrow
or the day after that. He decides to start his cookies and licks some more frosting from his finger. Jen suspects that there is more to this than just cookies. Jack admits this is because of her and also someone else. He remembers when he was looking for his story in Afghanistan. That was when he met Amir, an injured Afghan kid in a hospital tent who asked him if he was American. He was younger than JJ and messed up, but he smiled and was so happy to see Jack, even after losing his family. Jack began spending time with him. He emotionally says there are many kids like Amir, who have nothing left and no future. He raced over to him
once to give the boy a photo, but found him gone. His bed was empty, waiting for the next kid. A nurse told him that Amir had died that morning from his wounds. Jen whispers she is sorry. So is Jack. She realizes he went through much over there. Perhaps he should speak with someone. Or perhaps he should write down what happened. Jack is not sure. She encourages him. Jack laments to write down what they go through and turn it into a story would be too hard. But he will never ever forget what happened to all of them ...
- Buff John is stretching at the townhouse. Marlena lets in visitor Bo. He saw John's statement on the tube and calls it bold and impressive. John drawls he had to do something. Bo admits he has bad news about Rafe. He has been fired from the police department and the FBI too for feeding Carrie information for the defense. Someone apparently leaked it. Upset Marlena wonders who would have done such a thing ...
- Replay of Rafe punching Austin at the loft for getting him fired. Austin insists he is wrong. Rafe starts to attack, but Sami breaks it up and snaps what is wrong with him! She asks him to calm down and explain. Rafe rages that Roman fired him and he knows it was because of Austin. What does he want next? His car keys? His wife? Austin exclaims he has done nothing. Rafe accuses him of ratting him out for helping Carrie. Sami wants to know if that is true. Austin pleads innocent. "It had to be you!" rages Rafe. Austin rehashes how Rafe broke the rules. Rafe thinks Austin is more interested in winning and brings up Carrie. Jealous Austin angrily demands to know why he is so involved with his wife. Sami would like to know too. Rafe insists he was trying to help her prove John's innocence, for family comes first. Austin does not buy his explanation. Rafe accuses him of not caring about anyone in the family, including John, Marlena, Carrie. He has turned against them! Austin denies it. He feels this is really about how they do their jobs. He suggests Rafe take responsibility for
his own actions. Rafe lunges but Sami stops him. She believes Austin did not rat him out. He is just trying to do his job. Rafe bitterly remarks she
is siding with Austin, who just put his job above everyone. Sami retorts
at least he still has one! Rafe stares.
- Back at the townhouse, John blames himself for Rafe's firing. Bo thinks he should be grateful this never came out during the trial, as that would have been worse for his case. Marlena wonders who will be taking over for Rafe. Bo replies he is now the cop on the case. John's eyes narrow. Bo informs him that the FBI has much evidence. Marlena exclaims it is worthless as Stefano must have masterminded a set-up. Unfortunately, she has no proof just yet. Bo is sympathetic. John suggests to Marlena that they cease discussing how they feel. They must be very careful, as everything is now on the record. Bo agrees. He doesn't like it, but that is how it must be when he is doing his job as a cop. However, first he must assure John that as a person, he will never turn against him. The two
men embrace. Marlena smiles.
- Later, Marlena and John have a video call with Carrie via the internet. She is sorry Rafe was fired, but she has good news. She updates them
on the employee at the Swiss clinic who could be John’s salvation as an alibi. She is meeting him later today. John urges her to be careful. When she signs off, Marlena smiles the nightmare might almost be over. John agrees there could be a glimmer of hope and puts his arm around the blonde. A special moment with strawberries is coming ...!
- Bo, Hope, Maggie, and Mel ambush Alice's lawyer, who explains she cannot reveal what her client did not give her permission to. Maggie implores her. So does Hope. The lawyer states she cannot tell them what is in THESE files. She leaves said files on her desk and announces she will leave them for 5 minutes. Exit the helpful lawyer. Mel asks Maggie
if she is ready. Hope proceeds to study the documents, aware that the answer they seek is literally at her fingertips ...!
