COFFEE, TEA, OR ME?!
- Tis opening day at Salem's new coffee house! Sonny graciously thanks all for attending. Sonny's great-uncle Victor has brought Maggie. Sonny's parents, Justin and Adrienne, are proud. Sonny’s friends have also shown up, though Victor grumbles about the fact that a member of the DiMera clan - Chad - is present. Adrienne makes a toast. Sonny discusses his mysterious investor with associate Chad, explaining it was his wish to remain anonymous. Chad wrongly assumes it was papa Stefano and overreacts. Victor overhears and lectures Sonny for getting involved
with the dastardly DiMeras. Legal eagle Justin offers to help him find a loophole in the contract. Sonny assures them that he knows what he is doing, not to worry ...
- At the pub, Brady fills in Marlena on the latest with Basic Black, now that John is not in town. He sounds like a workaholic. Marlena innocently inquires about Madison. Brady bitterly updates her on the demise of their relationship, the fact that he knew not she was married - until after he gave her an engagement ring! He admits he felt like an even bigger fool when she convinced him her marriage was almost over, only to do an about-face and stay with Ian! Marlena listens. She points out it is a very complicated, delicate situation. Brady laments Ian is also a violent man. Dr. Marlena urges him to support Madison so she can see she can stand up to such a man. He should be there for her now. Brady considers.
- At the town square, Mel insists Abigail must tell Austin the truth - that they never slept together. Abigail refuses. She is still in delusional denial that Austin has feelings for her. Mel enlightens her. He does not think of her that way!
- Still at the tiny office, Carrie blurts out to Rafe that she is in love with him. He is not sure how to respond. She hopefully awaits his reply, with stars in her eyes. Austin suddenly appears and demands to know if Rafe
is in love with his wife. Carrie thinks she and Austin should talk. He is embittered about her declaration of love for her so-called friend and former business associate. He can see by the look on her face she is in love with Rafe, which he seems to feel is far worse than what he did.
He does not love Abigail, nor does he remember foolishly and drunkenly sleeping with her. But Carrie is in love with another man! Carrie woefully states it was not her intention to hurt him. Austin has heard quite enough and departs. Carrie does not go after him. She wonders if she is the only one with feelings but Rafe admits she is not. Their kiss did indeed mean something. She tries to get romantic. Rafe reminds her that they are both married. Carrie wonders where they go from here. He remarks Austin
still loves her. Rafe reasons that she owes it to her marriage to try. It is
the right thing to do! Exit Rafe, much to Carrie's disappointment.
- Still at the Coffee House, Victor gets an update from Dr. Dan on the phone. They are running tests on patient Bo and there has not been any change. Maggie tries to reassure him. Chad is glum that Mel is not there yet. Sonny assumes Will too is running late. Since Mel is nowhere to be seen, Gabi tries to get close to Chad and praises the great work he has done. Meanwhile, Mel leaves a message for Chad about running late
due to Abigail's meltdown. She promises to meet him at the pub soon.
When Chad steps away to help Sonny, Gabi picks up his phone, hears
Mel's message, and promptly deletes it. She then makes her move,
inviting Chad to go out for dinner - with her!
- On the job, Ian accuses Madison of losing her business edge because of her boyfriend. He belittles her ideas and trashes Brady. She notes he is being jealous and childish. He continues to slander Brady and warns her of the consequences if she does not stay away from him. Madison lets Ian know she hates him. He is not fussed and takes his leave. Madison takes out her hidden engagement ring and flashes back to happier times with Brady, just after he had proposed. Brady soon shows up and insists they must talk. He is not leaving until they do! He presses her to admit what Ian has threatened her with. Madison declares she wants to be with her husband. Brady persists. Madison lies she does not even love Brady. She wants him to take back his ring, too. Exit Brady.
- Marlena glides into the Coffee House and sweetly congratulates Chad. He appreciates her being there, Moments later his secret investor sweeps in - tis none other than Ian, who now seems to want everyone to know all about it! He admits to a surprised Victor that he strives to be as influential as he is in Salem.
- Abigail is worried that by telling Austin the truth, she would risk losing him. Mel points out she never even had him! She simply must tell him! Austin suddenly happens by and would like to know what they need to
tell him. Mel pushes her to do it. Abigail reluctantly agrees to tell him the truth. He deserves that much ... or not!
