Episode 12,040 - At the coffee house, Marlena is sadly staring at her lilac phone. Hope joins her and suggests she make the call. Marlena laments John does not even want to speak to her. Hope is sorry her plan was a bust and backfired. Marlena, however, blames Kristen, who has turned John against her. Roman saunters up and drawls then he is an idiot! Marlena defends John, for Kristen the scheme queen is to blame. Roman offers to talk some sense into John and asks where he can find him. Marlena confesses she does not even know where he is. - In a state of semi-undress, Brady wonders what his father is doing at the mansion. Kristen smiles. John suavely surveys the scene but doesn’t bat an eye. He drawls he is there to see his son. Kristen plays bashful and conveniently drops her blue leopard print dress. Brady to the rescue! When Brady goes to get his belt Kristen taunts John that he must have gotten an eyeful and uses the old coffee, tea, or me line. John ignores her. She purrs that she is living with Brady now. Brady returns. He suggests Kristen go freshen up but she would rather stay. John now announces he is not there to rehash old issues and presents his son with a gift box, something from Venice. His mother loved Venice and on their last gondola ride there, she spoke of her wishes for their boy. She wished he would feel only peace and happiness in his life. Kristen gets sarcastic. John continues to ignore her and explains he founds the gondola operator, who pried the plaque off that gondola from all those years ago. Brady emotionally thanks him. - Anne informs Chloe over the phone that Dan and Jen just had a big moment outside the pub. They are about to kiss too. Devil with the blue dress Chloe orders her to break it up! Loyal flunky Anne goes out and tells Dan he is needed inside. He growls he will be there in a moment. Anne returns inside. Dan asks Jen to meet him at the Horton square for a chat shortly. Jen gushes she will be waiting and leaves with a smile. Dan enters the pub with a grin, hopeful about the future. Anne is watching him and calls Chloe. “Kisses interruptus!” However, Dan will soon be meeting Jen at the town square to talk privately. Chloe is mad that sounds worse and realizes she must do this herself. She slams the phone down and considers her options. She is about to leave when Fancy Nancy stops her. She should not be the one to scuttle a Dan and Jen reunion. Nancy will take care of that. She has had years of experience so not to worry. Nancy puts on her fur coat and is off with a breezy “Love you!” - Abigail gets a text from date Cam that he will see her soon. She is back at the town square, where she had her run-in with Chloe. She remembers it, then is surprised by Chad. Is she alright? How about they grab a coffee? Abigail solemnly replies she is meeting someone. Chad is disappointed. She suddenly decides she can talk for a little while and they sit on the bench. He asks what is going on. She shares her inability to let someone’s unkind words go. Chad is sure the unkind words were not true, whatever they were. Abigail, however, fears they were. Meanwhile Cam gets a call at the pub and quietly warns the caller it is bad timing. He walks off to listen to what his mysterious contact has to say ... - At the pub party, Dan wonders what Anne was talking about and spies her scurrying off. Kayla asks Dan to say a few words before the award is presented to Maxine, He mutters he did not prepare any remarks. Then he should say something from the heart. He intends to! Meanwhile Jen runs into Nancy, and is unpleasantly surprised to see her. Nancy boasts she is in town to help with Parker. She is soooo sorry about Jack’s death. Jen whispers thank you. Nancy calls him kind and loving, then asks her to tell her brother Mike she says hello! Jen stares darkly. She leers does she want her to send him a note with a bomb! Nancy feigns surprise at the hostility. Jen rages at her for pretending to care. Nancy had assumed they all moved on. She is happy to be back in Salem and Chloe and Dan seem to think they may need her a while. Jen scoffs. Nancy reminds her there is an innocent child involved and wishes they could all get along. Jen snaps they cannot! And she will not deal with her or her daughter. She is a pushover no more! Nancy hopes she does not hold a grudge as Craig got the chief of staff job over Mike. They talk about Jen’s brother Mike and Jen accuses her of drugging and ruining him. Nancy points out he left town as he was having an illicit affair. She gushes about the Horton kindness when Chloe needed a bone marrow donor. Jen loses her cool and rages about Chloe being a schemer and manipulator, and they are the same …! Dan appears and stops her from continuing the tongue lashing. Nancy stands there innocently. She is the ultimate agent provocateur. And the fair Jen is losing. She snaps to Dan that Nancy is back to her lying ways. Dan is perplexed. Jen gets angry about Nanny Nancy. Nancy sweetly bids Dan goodnight and goes home. Dan informs raging Jen that Nancy has been helpful. Jen exclaims he is clueless cos that woman railroaded her mother and her brother, as the whole hospital knows. She rages perhaps he cannot walk away from Chloe but if nanny Nancy is supposed to be the go between, then she is done! She storms off and returns to the pub as Maxine receives her award for nurse of the year. Dan follows. Maxine makes her acceptance speech. - Back at the apartment, Anne warns Chloe that Dan was asked to say a few words but by now must be on his way to meet Jen. Chloe haughtily sends her back to the pub and closes the door. She is confident that Nancy will triumph. Anne returns to her pub duty, where she notices the chill between Dan and Jen now. Cam smiles as Maxine praises the good people around her. Dan hangs his head and pours himself a good stiff drink and another and another. Maxine thanks him for his kind words, then grudgingly goes to have her photo taken. Kay tries to make unhappy Jen feel better. Dan drinks up and then asks Cam to drop him off, since he should not be driving in his current state. Alas Cam has no car with him today. Dan decides to call a cab He takes one last look at the fair Jen, then walks out with his bottle. - Abigail sighs to Chad that her dad gave up his life for her and she feels guilty. She is sorry if she reminded him of losing his mom. He explains one starts to remember the good times and he is sure their deceased parents would want them to be happy and live their lives. Pretty Abigail smiles up at him. That is just what she needed to hear! Cam arrives and stares at the pair. - Nancy boasts to Chloe about her run-in with Jen. How the insults flew! Anne now calls and updates Chloe on Dan leaving after some drinks. Alone! Chloe profusely thanks her for the intel. Nancy was right! She gets her coat on. The redhead thinks she should not push but Chloe is sure he will need her to lean on and she has her feminine wiles … - Meanwhile the phoenix has officially landed ...
