She comments on his serious demeanor. He has Lexie on his mind and misses her at work already. Tanned Nicole is sorry. Tanned Dan muses maybe it is best not to care or love. Nicole notes at least it spares one of heartache. She praises Lexie as the only redeeming DiMera. He points out she is carrying one too. She is there to thank him for letting her switch the DNA samples, in addition to not telling EJ. If only she could show how grateful she is! Dan bitterly states she got what she wanted so it is time to drop the act! He is aware of her illustrious history of duping members of the opposite sex. She gets miffed he thinks she played him and wonders if she should take back the gift she brought him. He assures her he would actually be happy to hear that she played him. Honesty goes a long way when people are getting to know each other. She admits she laid it on a tad thick. There. She feels better now. Dan wants to know if her act ended before or after they kissed! She gets defensive and mentions sex. He tells "sweetheart" a kiss is not sex. She teases her idea of sex would make his head explode! She gets sarcastic about his lab coat and points out he too has a past. Maybe his kiss was not sincere for he believed she was playing him. They are standing close and he wonders why she thinks that. Cos he might have been curious to test how far she would go. He murmurs one could only imagine ... She throws the notion of honesty back at him and demands to know why he kissed her! - Kate excitedly meets Carrie and Austin at the pub. She knows about the baby and smiles she never thought it would happen. She is thrilled and hugs Carrie. And now they can put all that other unpleasantness behind them! Austin soon mentions Stefano. Kate would rather not discuss but Austin knows she loved him. She sighs at least he did not have to see his daughter die. Such a tragedy! They are fortunate to be blessed. She knows Austin will be a wonderful father. He pours himself a coffee and recalls he made mistakes. Carrie is elsewhere as they chat at the coffee pot. Austin is certain that everything will remain great in their relationship. Rafe enters and he and Carrie exchange greetings. She stares after him with longing. Kate observes. When lunch is done, she insists on taking Carrie shopping. Austin kisses his gals, says to have fun, and departs. Kate now gets a dangerous look in her eye … - ISA Spencer shows up at the station and haughtily informs Rafe and Roman that the governor wanted the ISA to oversee this investigation. He wonders who the prime suspect is. Roman and Rafe do not hesitate to share. EJ DiMera! Rafe explains they had another suspect, who got an alibi. Spencer knows about Will and how the press has been all over the scandal. Roman does not appreciate the private life of his family members being exploited. Spencer is more interested in Junior. They have proof Stefano drew up a new will cutting him off from the family fortune, which was not executed before he died. Spencer wonders what Stefano’s reasons were. Roman points out the fallout went both ways. Rafe and Roman bring him up to speed on how Stefano betrayed him with the John pension funds set-up. Spencer muses the real question is whether EJ would be capable of cold-blooded murder! - EJ sits on the floor all alone in the living room of the DiMera mansion in his sweats, shedding tears for Lexie. He now reaches for the damning manila envelope and takes out the handwritten letter from Alice Horton. Will comes up behind him and he hastily slips it into a file. Will asks what is going on. EJ snaps he is half an hour late. He is sorry. Will assumed he did not want him to come in today, given his sister died. EJ insists he will not bury himself in grief. Does it even sound like something he would do! Will notes even the mayor can have a day off. EJ retorts he is not simply a mere mayor, he also happens to be a DiMera! He tosses him the paper and informs his flunky he is front page news. Will reads the headline and deduces they will be looking for a new suspect. EJ is counting on it! He talks weakness and Will asks what his weakness is. EJ picks up a chess piece. Family, just like fatha. He sets down the king and drawls one has to be prepared for the next attack! He must take his place as the head of the family. And there can be no room for doubt! He ominously stares out the window. He later asks Will to print out all the articles which speculate he will be filling his father’s shoes. Will wonders where that leaves Chad. EJ reminds him Chad had repeatedly shunned the family business. And loyalty means everything. He is displeased Will seems to have insinuated he is taking what could be rightfully Chad’s. Will denies it. EJ haughtily wonders what he sees when he looks at him. A heartless bastard, a chip off the old block? No. EJ, however, claims that is who he is, that is who he must be. Ding dong! EJ orders him to see who it is. Will returns and explains it is Rafe, Roman, and someone else. EJ calmly suggests he see them in. Will opens the door. Roman wand Rafe wonder why he is there. He is back on the job! Roman hopes he is holding up alright, after what the papers said. He is indeed. Agent Spencer introduces himself as the head investigator, also ISA. He wants a word with the man of the house. EJ emerges, offers his full cooperation, and charmingly asks if there are any new leads on who killed his fatha.
