BAILED OUT!

- EJ removes the police tape and unlocks the DiMera front door, only to come face to face with Rafe! He demands to know wot he is doing in
his house. Rafe is only too pleased to inform him that he is on assignment with the police force. He refuses to allow EJ access to the official crime scene, which he does not want to let get corrupted. EJ arrogantly reminds him this is his house and he is the mayor. Rafe points out his mayoral office does not supersede a criminal investigation and wonders just what he is after. EJ frowns and calls it personal business. Rafe will still not let him in. EJ refuses to take orders from him. Rafe threatens to arrest him on the spot if he dares to enter. EJ chuckles and warns that he himself is
on dangerous ground. And he is referring to the fact that he must have switched the DNA tests. Rafe calmly advises him to take the matter up with the hospital. EJ smirks he will and if he finds any wrongdoing, he is bringing him down!
- Jack twirls Jen around at the town square with big news. He has been accepted by a publisher. Jen reads the letter and shares his excitement.
He is elated with the offer, advance, and promise of a book tour. Jen is proud and hugs him. Jack gets choked up. They sit with coffee and talk. Jack wants to call his agent and get right to work on the next thing. Jen wonders if that means he is going to New York. Jack’s eyes flicker and
he assures her he will work from here. He notes there is much to do in Salem, including planning their wedding. Jen is pleased he did not jump
on a plane to chase down the next exciting story, for it means he has changed. Jack is sorry he did not consider the feelings of others in the past. Jen concedes she was not perfect either but at least they have now figured things out. She loves him. He kisses her on the hand and then her lips.
- At the Carver residence, ailing Lexie is weak and frustrated. She had wanted to get together with Chad and EJ to go over her father’s funeral arrangements. Abe places a blanket on her and she sighs she wanted to
be involved. Abe expresses his concern about the stress level but Lexie sniffles she wants to be part of it. Abe promises to call her brothers, in that case. Lexie explains this will be her final tribute to her father. She knows he is still angry at the man who … Abe sighs he took her away from them. Lexie gasps everything about her father was difficult. He did not even know how to show his love when they first learned she was his daughter. He offered her money and there were always strings. She now cries that in spite of it all, she loved him so much. Abe does not think he deserved a daughter like her. Lexie points out he loves her despite her mistakes. “My father was such a tortured soul,” she concludes. She can imagine that the childhood he never mentioned was full of tragedy. She knows he loved her and that is what matters. Abe is amazed she can say this after all he did to her. Lexie reasons he would have helped her if he could. She is sorry he died feeling sad and alone. Abe holds her close as she cries on his shoulder. He is sorry she never had the chance to tell
her father goodbye. She cries she never thought he would go. Abe agrees many thought he would never die. Lexie becomes upset that someone close to them killed him. Abe deeply regrets going over and also leaving his gun at the mansion. Lexie does not blame him. In fact, the more she thinks of her father’s death … she is starting to believe perhaps it was a blessing for him, as what is happening to her was destroying him. No parent should have to watch a child slip away. He had already lost Tony, Rene, and … She cries that her father is gone and she will never have the chance to say goodbye. Abe holds her tight.
- At the police station, Roman places Will under arrest. Sam and Lucas insist he is no murderer, but Roman solemnly states he has no choice, given all the evidence. Will, his hands cuffed behind his back, looks dismal. Sami wants the lad to have a chance to explain. Roman thinks it
is best if he not say anything. Will starts to stammer about the gun he fired. Roman says to stop. Lucas agrees it is best not to proceed without
a lawyer. Roman suggests Sami call Carrie for legal representation. She snaps she is not getting her sister involved in this!  Roman is disgusted. “This is not about you!” Lucas offers to call Justin. Sami thanks him and agrees with that. Roman orders the female officer to take Will and book him. Before he is escorted downstairs, Will assures Sami he did not do it!
- Abe has made Lexie tea. She smiles he did a good job. Ding dong!! Tis Jack and Jen, grateful she agreed to see them. Jack stammers they are sorry for the loss of her father. Jen offers their condolences. Abe is eager to hear Jack’s big news. Jen gushes his book is getting published. Lexie exclaims she cannot wait to read it. There is an uncomfortable silence. Jack kindly offers to get her an advance copy. Lexie notes one’s words are important for one’s children. Abe politely promises to be back soon and exits. Lexie is glad to see her friend. Jen is too. She hugs her fried
and starts to cry. Tears also trickle down Jack’s face.
- “Are you threatening me!” Rafe wonders. EJ claims he merely wishes
to venture to his room, which happens to be upstairs, whereas the scene of the crime is downstairs. Rafe stares him down and reminds him he is a suspect in Stefano’s murder!
- Lucas returns to Sami at the station. Justin is in court but will return the call as soon as possible. Sami quietly asks Lucas whether he believes their boy might have murdered Stefano  ...
