At the Kiriakis mansion, Justin and Kate toast to the positive test results on the Norita name. Kate is impressed Justin got Lucas' almost lawsuit dropped, as he has friends in high places. Justin notes mother is more cutthroat and sneaky than son and he would not want it any other way. However, he has a concern about Clyde ... Aiden and Hope are star gazing at the park. They slow dance, stargaze some more, and he showers her with kisses and compliments ... Chad moves in for a kiss. Abigail also appears mesmerized. All of a sudden lurking Ben's phone rings outside. He doubles back and takes the call from Clyde, who requests a meeting with him right away ... Abigail stops and opens the front door. Alas no one is there. She could have sworn ...Inside the new blue club called the Edge two haters have descended upon Sonny and Paul with rude remarks. Outside John and Marlena arrive. They happily walk in after Will and Derek ... Sonny strongly suggests the two troublemakers walk away. One leers the sports star is letting his girlfriend speak for him. Will overhears and gets in his face. "That's not his girlfriend, jerk, it's my husband!" The insults from the ignorant ones escalate ... Ben is out of breath by the time he gets to the gate. Clyde explains it is about Abigail ... Abigail gasps about the mistake she almost made. Chad drawls there is no denying she feels what he feels ... Paul stands up and angrily demands they apologize to his friends for the names. They call the gang Paul's cheerleaders. Paul gets pushed. Derek gets sarcastic and gets slugged. Paul snaps and punches back. The club erupts in chaos. John appears with his badge and stops the fight. But the damage has already been done. Derek is sporting a shiner and Paul feels to blame. The one fighting with Paul claims he wants to press charges and calls Paul a rude name. John tells him off for talking to his son that way. The lowlife suggests John is to blame for the way his son is. John is disgusted. Rafe kicks the two troublemakers out of the nightclub. Derek laments to Will they went after Paul because he is famous. Sonny sighs to John these insults are nothing they have not heard before. John is worried about Paul, who steps out to clear his head. Marlena offers to go after him. John is grateful ... Clyde reminds Ben his late mama's birthday was on this day and produces a small box of a birthday gift he never got to give her before she died. That is his story anyway ... Back at the Wilson apartment, Abigail is an emotional wreck. She cries about the timing being wrong, causing too much pressure ... Clyde explains to Ben that he brought this ring so Ben could propose to Abigail. Ben stammers he does eventually want to marry her but ... Clyde points out he could lose her so best to have a long engagement. He gotta propose tonight! Him finding mama's ring is a sign. Ben believes his story. He always does ... Abigail is at a loss for words. Romeo Chad fears he may have spoken his words of love in vain for it is too late ... Rafe tries to make up for the ruined mood by offering the next round on the house ...Marlena the emotional healer has found Paul and asks whether he is alright. He sighs he is not ... Kate suspects Victor put Justin up to this even though Victor does not give a damn about her. He smiles he did not and she is right about Victor not giving a damn. On the other hand, this is what HE thinks ... Justin on Kate and Clyde! Kate is somewhat surprised. She thanks Justin after a flirty hair flip and takes her leave. Justin watches ... Abigail gasps she is living with Ben now. Chad points out they are only at the beginning of that stage. He assures her he did not use her, he did and does love her. Abigail whispers she knows ... John and Rafe down shots together at the bar. John admits how much it bothered him to see people behaving so stupidly and hurtfully toward his son ... Paul thinks things would be very different if he had not thrown his pitching arm. Marlena points out then he would still be living his life in a bubble. He seems to miss the security of the bubble until she makes him remember all the people he helped by coming out. Paul now thanks her and heads back to his friends. Realizing Derek has a shiner, he gives him some sympathetic advice on how to make it go away. Will and Sonny must leave as Arianna has to be picked up from the sitter. Will mutters to Derek it looks like he is getting lucky tonight ... Abigail tries to pull herself together. She tells Chad she needs time ... He smiles he will be here and watches her depart. Abigail now texts Ben she is on her way home. So is he ... Clyde runs into Marlena outside the nightclub and lets her know he made an appointment. She is glad to hear it. When they enter at the same time, Rafe casts Clyde a dark look. John notices. He suspects Rafe and Hope are suspicious of the hillbilly but Rafe is evasive ...Marlena wants a dance with her man. John is more than happy to oblige and makes all the right moves. Rafe watches the supercouple sway to the music and remembers Hope when she was dancing with attentive Aiden ... Clyde taunts Rafe for wanting to dance too. Rafe counters Kate must have stood him up or kicked him to the curb. Clyde grins she prefers powerful men like him. Rafe alludes to him being a crook ... Paul and Derek are walking through the park. Paul feels to blame for what happened. Derek tries to make him feel better by saying all the right things ... Will heads home and runs into Chad, who updates him on telling Abigail he loves her. He is convinced she feels the same way, she just said she needs time ... At the square, Hope assures Aiden she will be fine going to her parked car alone as she is armed. He must accept her wish to be independent and goes to his own vehicle. Once alone, Hope remembers Rafe promising not to repeat what he had overheard at Aiden's office ... John feels to blame for some of his son's pain as he was not there for him while he was growing up. Marlena believes that has nothing to do with the ignorant young men they encountered tonight and gives him a pep talk, praising him for bonding with Paul now ... Paul and Derek are on a park bench. Derek tells the tale of being targeted before and explains he could not stand by when he saw Paul getting pushed. Paul tenderly touches his bruise and they share a kiss ... Abigail gets back home and cannot help but notice Ben seems to be hiding something in his pocket. He pulls out the ring box, opens it, and admits it was his mother's. His father gave it to him for her. In fact, it would mean so much to him if she wore it ... Abigail is speechless ... He stammers sorry for the lacking proposal. She thinks it was sweet. He kisses her, hopes she will think about it for when the time is right, and leaves her alone with the ring box. Abigail is a mess ... Will tries to tell Chad not to count on anything but Chad is convinced Abigail will come around ... Derek assumed Paul wanted to be pals only. Paul teases to stop talking and kisses him passionately. Sonny happens along carrying Arianna and peers through the bushes. Then he makes himself scarce ... Will calls Abigail and updates her on Chad's high hopes. She cries cos it is hard to decide anything until tomorrow ... Hope calls Rafe to catch up on the Clyde case. He claims he is busy now, busy tomorrow, and ends the call. Hope is bewildered but gets a good feeling when she notices another Salem Bicentennial notice on the bench. She picks it up as magical music plays ... THE END |
