- At the apartment, businessman Sonny praises Brent’s ideas. Brent will text him tomorrow and exits. Will forces a dubious smile as Sonny apologizes for all the biz talk. He kisses Will. They are wondering what is taking Sami so long with the bail hearing. Will assumes she is already out. Meanwhile, Lucas is back in town and pays prisoner Sami a visit. He teases her about making the front page news, then tries to make her feel better. She asks about the kids. He assures her they are getting love and attention. Sami gasps how the hell will she get out of this mess! Lucas informs the guard they need privacy for a few minutes. He asks if Bernardi had any evidence that Will shot EJ. Can it be proven? Sami whispers no but she is convinced Stefano sent Bernardi his minion to kill Rafe. She saw that razor but no one believes her! Lucas whispers it his fault, since they never got the evidence as planned that time. Sami insists it is not his fault, that was bad luck. She has no regrets about protecting Rafe from the cop killer, however, and would do it again in a heartbeat!
- Kayla exclaims to EJ that Sami’s bullet may not have killed Bernardi.EJ says WOT? How much of a chance could there be? He wonders how she can be so calm. Kayla concedes it is only conjecture at this point. Still, Bernardi made it through surgery, and then went into arrest afterwards. It was enough of an irregularity to merit further investigation. EJ is intrigued. She goes on to say she compared the autopsy report to the notes of her surgeon and concluded the patient should not have died, at least not from the gunshot wound! EJ’s eyes narrow.
- Vargas catches up with disheveled Nick outside the pub and demands
to know where he has been. He got him pumped about that business opportunity, only to vanish! Nervous Nick is not so sure about anything anymore. Vargas angrily accuses him of allowing the late Jensen to ruin his life all over again! Nick becomes sarcastic about his lack of sympathy
and reminds him of his blackmail. Vargman is remorseful he stooped so low, but all that matters is the now. Many men would have taken their lives after experiencing the hell he went through. However, he believes Nick is a survivor, stronger than he realizes. He leaves him alone to ponder. Nick stares down at his ringing phone.
- At the hospital, Kate complains to Gabi that the widow Bernardi slipped in to see Rafe and according to Hope, their Salem patient might even be called to testify against Sami! Gabi does not get it. Kate explains Rafe worked with Bernardi and if he does not think Bernardi would have hurt him, it would wreak havoc for Sami’s case. Meanwhile, Rafe dreams of Stefano placing his black gloved hands around his throat and trying to squeeze the living daylights out of him. The Salem patient wakes up from the night terror and is relieved to see only a nurse. Kate and Gabi are informed he is awake. Kate suggests they not mention the testifying stuff so as to upset Rafe. They go inside and Rafe teases there is no need for her to stay at his side all the time. Diva Kate wants to, though she has to step out for a spell. Rafe gushes to Gabi that he cannot wait to hold baby Arianna. Where is the angel? With papa Will and Sonny. They marvel over the photos Gabi keeps on her phone, until she comes across one leftover of herself and Nick. Her face falls. Rafe suggests she call him to get this thing over between them. He knows he came to see him while
he was sleeping. She agrees, then insists she does not hate Nick. She too was to blame. Rafe is curious if she thinks their relationship is really over. She is not so sure, but it feels like it. Exit Gabi. Rafe braces himself for a possible showdown.
- Cam is studying the image of Chad’s CT scan and wishes it was wrong! He places a call to Dr. Brady’s office.
- In the park, Stefano chuckles at Chad’s question - whether he sent Bernardi to kill Rafe. Chad gets impatient. The phoenix states a DiMera’s word means everrrrrrrything! He would like more respect from his son, too! He now officially gives his word that he did not send that man into Rafe’s room to kill him. Time to move on. Chad rages he knows for a
fact that Bernardi was his flunky and brings up Sami’s violent reaction to him. The phoenix airily claims there is never any rhyme or reason to what Samantha does. Chad remains suspicious and doubtful of his father’s innocence regardless of his answer. He recalls how he got a phone call at the coffee house the exact same time Rafe was attacked. The phoenix makes light of it and warns him not to turn his back on him. He smoothly suggests he could teach him a great deal and cheerfully departs. Chad frowns.
- At the apartment, Will sighs at his iphone and informs Sonny it seems
his mom did not make bail after all. Sonny is sorry. Will needs to step out so Sonny will watch the baby. It is all unexpected.
- Sami complains to Lucas that team Bernardi is out for her blood. He promises he is here for her. She gets choked up and touches his face through the bars.
- EJ wants the juicy details. Kayla insists that as per her surgeon’s notes, the patient was stabilized. EJ wonders what they can do to dispute the coroner report. Kayla bravely suggests the body be exhumed for a new autopsy! EJ wants her assurance that she would supervise the autopsy. She thinks that is a given. He decides to contact lawyer Justin, in that case. This could be the big chance they have been waiting for - the
chance to save Samantha!
- Lucas runs into Will at the dark park. He urges him to be calm when he sees his mom. Will blames himself. He should have stepped up and paid the price all those years ago. Papa Lucas insists it is not the case and implores him not to stress out Sami. She is a survivor and will make it through. Meanwhile Sami asks her cop guard for water. He dumps a bottle on the floor in front of her, his action filled with loathing for the accused cop killer. Will arrives as Sami drinks the water she managed to reach and sighs about the guards acting like she killed one of their own.
At least Hope and Abe are looking out for her. Will promises they will
do something to fight. EJ appears and announces they already have! He takes his beloved by the hands, ignoring the bars between them, and she smiles. Will discreetly excuses himself. Sami asks him to tell Ari she loves her. She loves him too. And Will loves her ... He stops for a moment, looks up at EJ, and whispers they are counting on him. Once Will is
gone, Sami’s curiosity gets the better of her. She senses there has been
a development. EJ murmurs he does not wish to get her hopes up. She presses him to share. He proceeds to update her on Dr. Kayla’s expert opinion that the gunshot did not kill Bernardi, the man she was accused
of shooting dead! Sami gasps it makes sense. In addition, the dastardly culprit who hired Bernardi must have pinched the razor. EJ quietly notes that would be Stefano. Sami gasps they cannot let him get away with this!
- Preppy Brent shows up at the apartment again, having forgotten his tablet. Sonny politely lets him in. Brent claims to have an idea for tiles at the bar. He learns Will is not there anymore and takes his time as he and Sonny return to the designs on the table. But that is not the only design Brent has in mind. He also appears to have designs on unsuspecting Sonny. They soon enjoy a beer and talk about hiking. Sonny has fond memories of one of their group trips. The baby makes a sound and so
Mr. Mom excuses himself to check on her. When he comes back, Brent opens a pamphlet he just happens to have on a hiking tour. He and the guys were thinking of another camping trip. Sonny thinks it is great.
Brent would rather not go without someone, unless … perhaps Sonny would like to accompany him! Sonny gushes he would love to go with him, along with Will. However, they cannot leave the baby. Brent notes there is Gabi and suggests she could take care of the baby a few weeks. Sonny thinks it is too soon to leave her with the baby. Will returns and Brent pleasantly departs. Will notes he came back and nods sarcastically about the conveniently forgotten tablet. He wants to know what they
were talking about. An old hiking trip. Will now spies the pamphlet and wonders. Sonny admits he invited him to go with him.
- Cam gets a moment of the chief of staff’s time and shows her the curious CT scan, seeking answers. Kayla stares. It could be nothing or something serious. Cam will have an appointment with an expert on Monday. Kayla offers to talk to Chad for him. Cam takes a deep breath and decides to handle it on his own. He calls the specialist for a patient consult. He has a sinking feeling it is serious!
- Nick has been summoned to the hospital by Gabi, who explains she texted him on Rafe’s behalf. He knows he came to see him while he was sleeping. Nick wonders whether she convinced him to see him. Negative but her brother is understanding. Nick gushes so is she. She sighs not always. He announces he misses her. She looks into his probing eyes
and confesses she misses him too, and all the good times. He follows her faithfully to the room and she goes in with him. Nick realizes Rafe must be fatigued. Rafe suggests they have this conversation ALONE. Exit
Gabi. Nick stammers he wanted to say... Rafe growls to stop cos he will do all the talking! He is sorry for the hell he went through in the slammer. However, one does the crime and must do the time. He adds since then his actions have not been those of one who has reformed. He was a liar and a manipulator and he actually believed in him, his claim that his sister was important to him. Nick gasps she really was. Rafe drawls not enough. In addition, he schemed to shut Will completely out of his daughter's life and mistreated him and Sonny. He warns he has his eye on him and will be waiting to see if he can ever be a different man! Nick insists he is not the reason he is here in the hospital. Rafe muses it is about the only thing he is not responsible for and shakes his head when the disheveled genius walks out. Nick spies Gabi sitting alone. He realizes she is now off limits and woefully walks to the elevator.
- Sonny assures insecure Will he told Brent he would not go anywhere without Will. Will wonders whether he wants to go and suggests he is putting off things because of his problems. He thinks he should go on the hike and insists it is what he wants. Sonny sighs. He teases he is trying to get rid of him. Will stammers but he does not want to make him feel obligated. Sonny emotionally exclaims Will is his partner and nothing will take him away from him. He starts to kiss him until the baby cries. Will steps away, then comes back and notices Sonny staring at the pamphlet.
- Stefano’s lady seductively lights a Cuban cigar and hands it to him, wondering how it went with his son. The phoenix puffs away and grins
it was more successful than he had anticipated. He now gets a call and grimaces. "When did this happen!"
- Chad is sitting outside the pub all alone, staring at his phone. Kate comes around the corner and asks if all is well. He informs her he just
met Stefano, who swore he did not order Bernardi to kill Rafe. Kate wonders what he expected! Chad asks about Stefano’s word as a
DiMera. Did he ever break it? Kate must admit he did not ever lie to her when making a declaration on the DiMera name. However, he is capable of … Chad interrupts he already knows but he did give him his word. Kate argues Sami did not shoot a man for no reason. Chad grudgingly decides Stefano was telling him the truth this time.
- EJ mutters they must beat Stefano at his own game. Sami hopes they can do it with the autopsy,
- Kayla shuts her file and hopes she is right.
- Stefano chuckles about their next move. They will be needing a hell of a lot of luck for that! Meanwhile, EJ whispers to prisoner Sami that lawyer Justin is already setting things in motion to get the body exhumed. This could be her last night in jail! She cries and gasps please cos she wants it to be true. He reaches through the bars and strokes her frazzled face. But will luck be on their side ...?
