- Prisoner Sami sits up with a start in her cell when suited EJ elegantly taps on the bars. He realizes his disheveled beloved has not slept and assures her she will not be attacked in here. They have Hope’s word. Sami wonders about bail, now that lawyer Justin fired her! EJ calmly insists he will take care of it. He has a new lawyer but Sami is dismayed he is an old school DiMera lawyer. She gasps it will not look well just when they need to keep up appearances. That man is a lawyer to the mob! EJ promises he will get her bail and they will take it from there,
after the successful bail hearing. Naturally money is no object. She sighs her life feels lost to her. EJ now plays a video of the children wishing her well. She smiles, then falls to pieces. EJ proceeds to fuel her on about Adrienne. Sami morphs into an angry blonde fireball. EJ is elated. That
is the spunk they need to succeed! He suggests they reveal Justin’s wife leaked the evidence and imply he was not on the up and up. Sami wishes they would just find that razor! EJ wishes they could find the evidence Bernardi was a dirty cop. Sami wishes he would ask his father. He doubts it would work given their non-relationship and urges her to stay mad. He will have her home today! She grins she will make it worth his while and they share a passionate kiss through the bars. Exit EJ. Sami is now ready to dream of ways to make arch enemy Adrienne pay! Meanwhile Hope and Justin discuss the case in her office. He admits that he is no longer defending Sami. Then why this impromptu meeting? Justin replies he continues to have a personal interest in the case. He laments his wife was not wrong about her suspicions that this would not be good for Sonny. Hope notes mama Adrienne was trying to protect Sonny. Justin excuses himself. Hope sighs she is not sure how to help Sami now.
- Sonny is back at the apartment, where Will is busily tidying up. He is utterly disheartened and complains Justin dropped his mom’s case. He understands why but it will look bad for Sami! Will goes glumly into the other room as Sonny opens the door to - Adrienne! He does not want to listen to her hollow excuses and tries to make her leave. No luck. She snaps if Sonny had listened to her in the first place, nothing would have happened! She did try to talk to him! Sonny rages he was busy and she had no business going to the police the way she did. Will reappears upon hearing the loud voices. Adrienne is sorry she had to do it but screams
her family is turning against her even though it was Sami, not her, who shot Bernardi! Will tries to reason with her. No luck. He cries she hurt
his mother and surely she could have waited with the video. She had his mom unceremoniously carted out of his uncle’s church in handcuffs! Exit red eyed Will. Sonny stares her down and drawls Will is being far more lenient than he would be, what with her twisted justifications. He accuses her of enjoying it. He had warned her not to make him chose but she did! He has made his choice. "Goodbye mom!" Exit Sonny. Adrienne cannot stop him.
- Chad and Abigail sit at the town square together. The young DiMera feels responsible for the video fiasco. He promises not to let anything happen to the girl. She is sorry. He explains he could not live with himself if anything bad happened to her. He cares so much though he is a screw up. He marvels at her smartness and goodness. As a matter of fact, he considers her the perfect person and likes her a great deal. He asks her to let him protect her. She blinks her pretty eyes, then concedes he is sweet. They hold hands and she gushes she was being honest about being worried. But they are in this together! Chad agrees. However, if jail time is mentioned, she is out! She admits she is not exactly street smart. He drawls she is amazing, though. Abigail likes the sound of that.
- At the house of Kiriakis, a tormented genius is about to walk out the front door, avoiding any kind of conversation. Maggie insists Nick take a seat and talk to her. He drawls all is well. She stares down the unshaven young man and advises him to cut the act! She knows something is still wrong! He toys with his keys and she accuses him of avoiding her. He assures her he has been busy but managed to see a therapist, as promised. In addition, he and Gabi worked stuff out. She doubts it could have been so easy. He is in denial and she fears his past will come back to haunt him. Maggie seems to fear that Nick the nefarious shall rise again! She snaps she knows that he only met with the therapist once. How did she know such privileged information? She did not, she just tricked him into admitting it. She feels he must face what happened to him. He would rather not discuss it and quips he is just fine. The redhead questions that. Nick gets choked up. She understands he is sorry but she also knows he loves Gabi and the baby. He woefully shakes his head that they are gone, and cries his life as he knew it then is over. She wishes he would not run away. The tormented genius gasps he is just moving on and takes off. Maggie is even more worried than before and she is never wrong ....
- In the Salem patient’s room, Rafe doubts to Kate that Sami shot Joe to save his life cos Joe was his good friend. Marge Bernardi appears in the doorway, agreeing, and insisting Sami murdered her cop husband! Kate tries to usher her out, as Rafe is in recovery. The widow remains. Rafe asks how her son is. He remembers little Timmy, cos Joe always talked about him. He does not let Kate summon a nurse and asks about the lad. Marge is pleased to have her say at long last. She cries Sami is destroying his father’s memory. Joe would never try to hurt his friend Rafe. It was hard enough Sami killed her Joe, she will not allow her to kill his memory too! Rafe stares. Kate tries to stop her but bewildered Rafe is seeking enlightenment. The widow explains Sami is now calling Joe a dirty cop. Poor Timmy will be crushed! The facts are that Sami lied about not knowing Joe. In addition, she claimed Joe wanted to stab him but he
was unarmed! She needs him to tell the truth and not protect his ex-wife. Rafe is clearly torn. Kate watches with worry.
- EJ sits in Hope’s office and sighs he has grave concerns. Hope promises to help. EJ is admittedly worried about the long haul, if Sami might have to spend time in prison. Hope is still on the investigation and flat out asks him whether Bernardi was on his father’s payroll. EJ pauses, says no, then concedes he believes Bernardi was indeed one of fatha’s flunkies. However, it is not possible to prove and the weapon is missing!
- At the town square, Sonny confers with Chad and Abigail and urges them to keep their silence. He will pretend he and he alone made the video, as he has immunity, unlike them. Legal eagle Justin approaches
and Sonny greets him. Justin cannot believe ... Sonny points out he loves Will and Will was scared for his mom. Justin demands to know if anyone else was aware of the incriminating video. Sonny fibs it was his, only he knew of its existence. Before anyone can stop him, Chad steps forward and outs himself as the party who filmed it! Justin solemnly suggests
Chad ask his brother for a lawyer. Chad thanks him. Abigail starts to say something but Sonny wants a moment with his father. He believes he
was the one who messed up and begs him to reconsider representing Will’s mom. Sami needs him! Justin peers at him with intelligent eyes.
He is unable to represent a client who has repeatedly lied to him. Sonny argues she was protecting her son, just as he would have done for him! Justin considers. Meanwhile, Chad gets a throbbing headache. Abigail wants him to see a doctor. He gasps it is nothing. She threatens to confess her involvement to Justin unless he goes to a doctor. Chad puts his arm around her and they walk off together.
- Will visits Sami in her cell. She smiles she would like an update on
sweet baby Ari. He tells her of the first visit with Rafe and Sami pauses. She wonders whether Rafe knows about her shooting Bernardi! He does not think so. However, he seems to believe she was the one who shot him! Sami is shocked. Will elaborates. The confusion he is experiencing between dream world and the real world is likely a temporary state. He is curious if she spoke to Rafe before the shooting. Sami flashes back to blurting out to unconscious Rafe that she could not bear to lose him, though she does not share. Will now assures her he will realize she did
the right thing. Meanwhile Rafe tells the widow Bernardi she was right to speak with him. They are both after the truth. He offers his condolences for the loss of her husband. The widow haughtily departs, feeling much better. Kate sighs the woman must assume he is on her side now. Rafe dramatically declares he simply must speak with Sami! Kate gets sarcastic about Sami the stress inducer. He persists. She quips there are no phones in her jail cell. Rafe gets agitated that her jailed state was not shared with him. No one tells him anything! Enter nurse Maxine to take his blood pressure and she is not taking no for an answer! She warns the Salem patient to rest or else she doubles the dosage of his sedative. Once she is gone, Rafe reasons he wants to help Sami. Kate suggests he first focus
on recovering. Rafe becomes groggy and soon falls asleep. Nick quietly enters and whispers to Kate he is here to apologize. Kate whispers the sedated one needs his rest. Nick inquires about coming back later. She
will let him know. Exit unshaven Nick. Kate now caresses Rafe’s strong arm as he sleeps. She vows she will not lose him again!
- EJ rejoins Sami with good news. Hope is going to try and help them prove Bernardi was a corrupt cop on the take! Sami is optimistic until
she learns the mob lawyer is still on her case. Justin appears, a glint in his eye. Sami’s blue eyes suddenly shine with hope. EJ is visibly relieved, but gets his back up. Justin recalls how Adrienne kept warning him that their family would get Sonny in trouble. Sami is sorry. Justin suspects they would do it again. If his son is ever placed in such a situation again, he
will come after them both! EJ understands. Justin adds the Greeks may not have made revenge, but they certainly made it an art form! With his threat out of the way, the legal eagle is ready to get to work, assuming Sami can refrain from lying this time .... Sami happily promises to let her lawyer Justin do all the talking. The cop arrives to handcuff her despite EJ’s protests. Justin reminds her they will be there for her in court and urges her to say nothing. Exit Sami the prisoner. EJ cannot help but question Justin’s decision to represent her again. Justin admits he has ulterior motives. He cares not whether EJ or Sami rot in prison for years. However, exonerating Sami would be best thing for both of their sons - Sonny and Will. That is his motivation, pure and simple.
- Back at the apartment, woeful Will has returned. Sonny and Chad are present. Sonny wonders about Sami’s state. Will breaks down. He is not mad at him, but it is hard not to be angry with his mother. Sonny explains he tried to convince his father to take her case again, but does not think it worked.
Will suggests Sonny and Chad discuss the club. Sonny cannot, given how troubled Will is. Will sighs they are both going to be troubled for a long time to come. Together they have to find a way to muddle through.
- Adrienne sips iced tea with Maggie. She complains her son is like a bona fide DiMera these days. What comes next! The redhead advises her to focus on the present. Adrienne hopes now that Justin is off the case, it
will at least be easier for them to make up, after which Justin will help her with Sonny. The wise redhead has her doubts and suspects the situation will only worsen before it gets better.
- Detective Hope heads for Rafe’s room. Kate updates her on the widow Bernardi’s unannounced visit. Hope frowns, as she feels it jeopardized Sami’s chances that the widow gave him her version of events, for that
is all he has to go on. She believes Rafe is going to be summoned as a witness - for the prosecution! Meanwhile Sami, still wearing handcuffs,
is escorted to the empty courtroom, where she will soon learn her fate ... (picture above). END
