She calls for EJ to open the door, as she forgot her keys. She now tries the door, which happens to be unlocked, and gingerly enters. She is greeted by the sight of the beautifully decorated living room, with a romantic fireplace and mistletoe. EJ drawls she walked into his trap and they kiss. They sit at the romantic table and he informs her they will not be attending the lighting at the town square. He suavely pours them both champagne and grins tonight there is no campaign, it is just the two of them. Nicole smiles about being wined and dined. - Maggie's kitchen is a flurry of activity as Mel and Dan chomp on her cookies. She hopes there will be enough left for Jennifer's tree trimming. She suddenly recalls her cookie jar was broken. Mel quips that Will broke even more! Dan had no idea. - At the loft, Rafe and Sami are decorating the family tree with the kids. Will is sour. Rafe declares this is the best Christmas ever. Sami asks Will why he has not hung any ornaments. He snarls he would not be here if not for the kids. She hopes he will get into the Christmas spirit. He snaps to leave him the hell alone! Austin arrives and starts to forewarn Sami that Carrie is on her way with a big surprise. Carrie sweeps in, followed by smiling Marlena, who is bearing a big red poinsettia. Sami's face falls. Will welcomes his grandmother with a hug. So do the hyper grandkids. Johnny et al take Marlena to see their opening door Advent calendar in the other room. Sami blasts Carrie for bringing her without checking first. She already said she was not ready to see her! Rafe and Austin, however, disagree. Rafe notes Carrie did the right thing! Sami looks even more miffed at her saintly sister. She snaps she should have asked her. Carrie points out John is in jail. Sami, however, still blames John for what happened to Johnny. It is all her mother's fault, as she chose that nut job John over their father! She regrets the day Johnny went missing and will for the rest of her life! Rafe stares. Sami decides she will kick Marlena out. Rafe intervenes, as it is a time for family. Sami cannot say no. Austin mutters to Carrie he knew it was a bad idea! Meanwhile, Rafe asks Sami to hang in there. She will keep her mouth shut, but she hates it. Rafe teases he will put in a special word to Santa. They kiss. Marlena emerges, gushing about the cute grandkids. She is looking forward to trimming the tree. Rafe gives Sami a look. She asks her to help with the tinsel. Carrie and Marlena smile and Marlena joins them working on the tree. Will helps himself to some hard liquor while no one is looking and proceeds to drown his sorrows. - Bo and Hope decide to seek answers from Stefano about the note which they suspect is an I.O.U. from the phoenix to Alice. They are ready to leave the house when Jen starts to scurry about as there is much to do! They realize they will have to wait. Chad and Abigail start to hang decorations on the tree. Jack arrives with a smile and Jen wonders what he is doing there. Abigail invited him. Dan comes back into the room with Maggie and Mel. The two fellas did not expect to see each other there. Jack musters a cheery ho ho ho! Jen explains she invited Dan. Jack offers to go. Jen thinks he can stay as they are all adults. Dan forces a grin and agrees. Ding dong! Tis the elegant Doug and Julie with Ciara. Julie wonders where Victor is. Maggie replies he is away on business. She was surprised he was invited, and even her, for that matter. Julie graciously assures her she will always be a Horton though and through. Abigail, Chad, and Mel discuss Will trashing the place earlier. Mel quietly notes one just never knows people. Mayor Abe and his first lady Lexie arrive. They discuss the campaign with Bo and Hope. She mentions how Alice used to say not everyone is always bad - not even Stefano. She wonders if Stefano ever said anything about Alice. Lexie has no idea. By the tree, Mel and Chad pick up an ornament at the same time and their hands touch. They are both affected by their closeness and she shyly excuses herself. Chad stares into space. - At the mansion, EJ presents Nicole with a card - Nate Berkus - so he can help spruce up the house. Nicole is confused. He explains he would like her to come live with him ... - Back at the loft, the family decorate the tree. Will pours himself more booze. Carrie announces she and Austin are staying in town and she will continue working on John's case. The blonde (Marlena) is much moved. Carrie and Rafe now decide to tell her about the photo. Turns out there is a discrepancy in the background shadows. Will points out it must have been photoshopped, then accidentally drops something. Sami fears it was the sound of a gunshot and becomes nervous all over again, remembering what happened at the pub. She shouts she hopes John will rot in prison for the rest of his life! - Abe and Lexie head out to the town square, where they will soon meet up with the rest of the gang. Inside the house, Maggie presents Mel and Dan with their own ornaments, even though they are not technically Hortons. Julie gives Maggie an ornament for her new husband Victor. Jack recalls to Jen that when Alice gave him his ornament, they had just announced their engagement. He flashes back to the moment. Jen gets teary-eyed. Jack will always be grateful to Alice for accepting him. Jen whispers she will too and reaches out to touch his hand. - Nicole admits to EJ the mansion did used to feel like her home. They agree they were both happy here. Nicole blames herself for messing up with lies. She was insecure about Sami. EJ gets tense upon hearing her name.
