PART 1 - At the house, working girl Jen starts to write something, then crumples the paper and throws it. Jack catches it and teases what she wrote. That EJ is a jerk. Jen is mad about Nicole’s dirty pool. She warns she is not in a good mood! Jack thinks that she cannot stoop to the low level of the DiMeras, as she is a sweet person - one of the many things he loves about her. They discuss Abigail. Jen mentions her agreeing to see Marlena and she hopes Jack is doing the same. Jack assures her that he is proceeding with his therapy. He announces he got daughter Abigail a new phone, in case the bad guys stole hers. Jen sighs things would have been different had HE had a GPS on his phone in Afghanistan. He emotionally points out they would still be together. Jen would rather not go there, but Jack confesses he thinks a great deal about what might have been. Jen remarks they cannot change what happened. She wants him to heal. He wants all of them to heal, which will take time. He insists he has changed and sits down, nervously grinning he is talking about himself again. He becomes serious as he announces he wants to take care of all his clan. He suddenly realizes Jen has only eaten chips with coffee today and ushers her to the pub for some nourishment to help her take down the DiMera political machine! - Mel gets papa Dan a coffee at the café and mentions his MG test. Her results were perfect and she is sure his will be too. Dan becomes quiet. He notes how stressed she must be cos of what went down with those bad guys. Mel flashes back to kissing Chad and admits she is physically fine, though her emotional state is quite another matter ... - Chad enters the spa with Abigail. She is there to sign up for Quinn's self-defense class. Gabi is the new spa receptionist and she has signed up too! Abigail sits down to fill out the form and Gabi gushes about Chad saving her again. Abigail stands up and promptly bumps into Austin, who grins they gotta stop meeting like this. Gabi takes it all in. He asks how Abigail is. She is still grateful that he saved her. Quinn and Chad come back and Austin states he would like to get his wife into some programs. Quinn points out he carries all mama Kate's products. Abigail tags along as Quinn gives Austin a tour. Chad confides to Gabi that he thinks they should call Mel and invite her to the self-defense class! The conversation now turns to Will's meltdown. Chad assures her she will have no trouble finding a new guy but Gabi laments all the good ones are taken. Nearby, Quinn gets a phone call. Abigail now takes the opportunity to tell Austin she wants to take his class. He smiles he might invite wife Carrie to lecture sometimes. He gets back to Quinn, eager to surprise Carrie with a spa treatment gift. Gabi now approaches Abigail, who is standing alone, and alludes to the fact that Professor Reid is cute. But Abigail innocently pretends not to have noticed. - Mel has just turned off her phone. She keeps flashing back to kissing Chad and admits only that she does not want life to pass her by. Dan advises her to let every moment count. He knows her days of hurting people are over. She frowns she has done something that she should tell someone about. Dan suggests she confide in her dad. What is this secret? She flashes back to kissing Chad again and suddenly states she decided to go apply at the spa for a second job. She hopes he does not mind her planning to move out. He understands as she has her own life. Mel now lets him know how wrong he was to let Jenifer go! He refuses to get into that. Mel accepts it and must depart. Seconds later, arguing Jack and Jen come around the corner. Dan looks up from his meal. Jen asks how he is. Not bad. And herself? She admits she should be working. Jack rushes up and starts to babble about the menu, how he does not like it. Daniel decides to leave. Jack praises Dan for being a good guy. However, they are competing for the same woman, yet he and Jen belong together and he knows Jen will choose him! Dan remarks she did not update him and gives them their space. Jack wants to know what is going on. Jen laments she and Daniel are in fact no longer together. - Mel flounces into the spa in her mini and smiles upon learning that Chad also signed her up for the self-defense class. He hopes she does not mind. She does not and admits she is thinking of talking to Marlena to get rid of her stress. Chad too. Mel adds she is sorry about what happened. Abigail steps up and wants to know sorry about what ... - Jen informs Jack that she and Dan are no longer dating. He excitedly assumes she chose him, but she soon enlightens him that Daniel dumped her. He calls him an idiot. Jen begs to differ, as he had his reasons. Jack believes he was a fool though he cares not. He takes Jen by the hand and dramatically declares now there is nothing standing in their way ... - Dan sits at the pub for a drink. He is elated to see cute fellow doctor Kayla and wishes her happy holidays. He orders a beer and a shot. She cannot help but notice he is drowning his sorrows. Dan does not deny it. - Jack promises Jennifer things will be different. Jen stops him. This does not automatically fix everything! She Still loves Dan! Jack's face falls. She points out they had serious problems. He gasps he is not the man who walked out on her and he loves her. Jen woefully informs him love is not enough and she cannot try again unless she is sure it will work for them. She could not handle another failure! She excuses herself to get to work.
