Up in the afternoon of December 4 HOLDING ON - Marlena quietly and carefully opens Kristen’s door and gets an eyeful ... of Brady and Kristen’s lovefest under the sheets. She cannot believe what she is seeing! - Replay of EJ tenderly assuring Samantha he will not let Nicole ruin Eric’s noble life. Rafe arrives and spies the moment. He hangs his head. EJ is telling Samantha Nicole shall not get past them. She smiles and notes they should return to work. And so they flounce off together. Rafe turns glumly around and runs into Father Eric, who was hoping to see him. Rafe heartily shakes his holy hand and welcomes him back. He asks how he is feeling. And has he seen Sami yet? Rafe is amused to hear that Eric already had some frank words with Sami. He tells him how to deal with her, a grin on his face. Eric notes his sister sounded happy when she was with him. Rafe sighs he was happy with her as well, but alas things changed … - Nick interrupts Gabi and Will at the pub and kisses his beloved. He noticed Rafe exiting. Gabi explains she told him about the proposal. Nick is pumped. He asks Will whether he has made his decision about the baby. Gabi gushes she wants to marry him. Engagement alert! Nick is over the moon. He loves her and promises to love this baby. Will stands up and wonders what would happen if he went public as the father. Nick states it would be harder but it would not change how he feels. Will is uncomfortable about lying. Gabi points out no one would ask so it would not really be like lying. Will pensively pours himself a coffee as Nick promises the baby a great life with him as the father. Gabi echoes the sentiment. Nick notes Will is thinking of something. Will laments his folks used to ignore him as they were too young. He would not forgive himself if that happened to his kid. Gabi swears it will not. Will has realized this is what they want and woefully states he must do what is right by the child. “I will keep my mouth shut,” he declares. Gabi wants him to confirm he will let her and Nick raise his baby as theirs. “Yes,” he whispers. She hugs him in gratitude. - John sits at his table in the coffee house and flashes back to Kristen summoning him for a discussion ... He decides to call doc. Her phone makes a vibrating noise at the door. Kristen spies her, as she glances over Brady’s shoulder. John has left Marlena a message. Kristen stares at her and gasps slightly. Marlena gasps in horror and leaves. Brady stops and asks Kristen what is the matter. She stares. - Sami is still complaining about Nicole and Eric when she and EJ return to the office. She cannot believe Nicole is the only woman Eric was ever with in the biblical sense! EJ points out she does not know that for certain. Besides, she should trust her brother to manage his own life. She snaps not with that Nicole around! EJ teases they have fun work to finish. She smiles it is fun and he sits opposite her with a grin, slightly flushed from the excitement. - Gabi is elated. She thanks Will, then hugs Nick tight, and giggles she is getting married. She races out to find Rafe. Will assumes he and Nick are done. “Not exactly,” says Nick. - Sami proudly shows EJ some websites, including their own. EJ feels they are ready. Sami gushes she never could have done this caliber of work with Kristen. EJ muses they made a betta team. Sami now receives a picture drawn by Johnny in science class, texted to her by his teacher. Sami is not sure what it is. EJ jokes it must be the robolobster. He tells how he knows. Sami is amused he was involved in their kids’ playing and teases his daughter must have plans to get even with Johnny for his robolobster mischief. EJ agrees. She softly states they did a good job with their children. “We did,” whispers EJ. - Eric wisely notes that change can be good and wishes Rafe happiness post Sami. Rafe admits he is still figuring things out. Eric pleasantly suggests he drop by the church. They are good at listening and helping folks sort things out. Rafe already knows, for the Sisters of the Holy Cross already saved his life. Father Eric is looking forward to seeing him at mass. He leaves with a grin. Gabi now rushes up to Rafe with her big news. She is marrying Nick and they are raising the baby together. She gathers from his expression that Rafe is not enthusiastic. He hesitates, then decides he is happy if she is happy. She assures him this is what she wants. She laughs she is actually getting married and they embrace. - Will assumes the worst, but Nick intended only to thank him. He is doing the right thing. Will warns him to do right by his kid. He also wants him not to ever rub this in by acting like he is taking a bullet for him cos he got what he wanted! Unhappy Will walks out and puts on his jacket. Just then Father Eric comes around the corner. It fills him with joy to see his nephew, though he cannot help but notice the long face. Will explains he is preoccupied, for he has much to do. Eric teases they will have to catch up as he heard much has changed. Will reminds him he is gay. Eric nods. - Brady asks Kristen what is going on. “Nothing,” she slyly smirks and they continue kissing. - Marlena walks by a colorful display of flowers at the town square as John comes around the corner. He perceives she is frazzled and wonders if she is alright. Pause. He asks if she got his message. She informs him her phone was on vibrator as she flashes back to what she saw Brady and Kristen doing. John perceives something is the matter. She asks him to fetch her a glass of water for she has something to tell him. John dutifully steps away to get the water. Marlena whispers to herself how can she tell him this?? She sits down and loud Billie arrives, hoping it did not bother her that she told her she saw John going to the Salem Inn. John returns with the water and stares, having overheard Billie’s gossip. - After the lovin, Brady wonders why Kristen is subdued and they cuddle on her bed. She repeats this is a mistake. He drawls he will not walk away from something so amazing.. He wants her to admit it. It was amazing. She pouts and refuses. He teases her body does not lie. The topic of feelings comes up. Brady explains he was not anticipating this either but does not want it to end. They should play this out, see where it goes. “Absolutely not!” snaps Kristen. She feels the odds are against them. John and Marlena would suspect a plot and would never accept their union. And it would hurt her too much to cause a rift between himself and his family. Therefore, they are over! She slips out of bed. Brady frowns. - Eric hopes his being a priest will not be a problem for Will. Will points out surely he cannot be okay with him being gay. Eric would rather not talk church beliefs and insists he is not in the judgment business. They are foremost family and friends. The two end up joking about sports. Eric sincerely hopes his nephew will be happy and fulfilled in his life. Will thinks it was great seeing him. Father Eric now suppresses a yawn, and sighs he must go back to the rectory for some sleep. He hopes to get together with his nephew soon and tells him he loves him. Will is touched. - Sami is working at her desk. EJ marvels that Johnny does not have a dishonest bone in his entire body. Sami muses then they must have done something wrong. They burst out laughing. Sami marvels they have a killer campaign. EJ now explains the time has come for him to update Kristen as she deals with the vendors. He suspects all will meet with her approval. As he exits, EJ spies Rafe waiting and grins he seems more dour than usual. Rafe is there to see Sami. EJ smirks they are inundated with work. Rafe notes EJ is pushing her at work. EJ boasts she likes to be pushed and they work well together, finishing each other’s thoughts. Rafe drawls to guess what he is thinking and knocks on the door. - Brady and Kristen are getting dressed. She thinks he is sweet. He starts to kiss her and she pushes him away. Kristen now gets a call from EJ, who is on his way to speak with her. Brady wonders who was calling. The real world! He himself has a meeting with Victor. He implores her not to think too much and talk herself out of a good thing. He kisses her on the lips, says he will call her later, and departs. Kristen considers. - John places Marlena’s glass of water before her. Billie scurries off. John sits down and explains he was calling her for a reason. He wanted to update her on the fact that he met with Kristen. She whips out the tube of lipstick and asks if it was about this. Indeed it was! Kristen had summoned him, wondering if her important lipstick prototype had by chance ended up in his jacket pocket. Marlena would like to know how it got there in the first place. He admits she hugged him. It was a friendly hug, nothing more. Marlena sarcastically wonders if that was all. John takes a deep breath. - Knock knock! Rafe asks Sami if she has a minute.Of course. She shares she had called him earlier to ask about Gabi. Rafe gives her the big news. She exclaims it is fantastic upon learning that Gabi and Nick are engaged. However, she perceives Rafe does not approve. He sarcastically reminds her the guy is a murderer out on parole. Sami believes he has changed. Plus he has job offers, including one from her. She intends to hire him now that Kristen is gone and hopes that helps. He mutters it does a little. He suddenly blurts out “I need you!” - Gabi and Nick enter the coffee house and inform Sonny they are engaged. He offers them his warm congratulations, then notes it is rather sudden. Gabi explains she is pregnant. Nick hastily explains they are keeping it under wraps until they tell the family. Sonny is happy for them. They must be excited! Gabi is indeed. He now asks Nick about how he feels. Nick gushes he is the luckiest guy in the world to become a father and husband in the same year. Sonny takes it all in.
