It was Chip the executive producer, who was finally back from his extended leave in the tropics. He was tanned, bland, and sporting a goatee. - Dakota let him her dutifully kiss her on each cheek and faked a squeal of delight. - Chip sat down at their VIP table after brushing by the inconsequential movie actor at the next table. He leaned forward and lowered his voice for dramatic effect. "It all started on an Atlantic flight ..." - "We bumped into each other in first class and had a few drinks." - "I’ll take it from here, Drag." The waiter returned and Chip flashed a Hollywood smile, ordering a Marguerita. Once the waiter was gone, he resumed his story. " After one too many, I started to talk too much." - Dakota was decidedly bored. - Chip continued. "And I blurted out the secret ..." - Dakota suddenly woke up again. - "Is the secret about the show?" - "Darlin, everything is about the show." - Dragos chuckled. - Dakota glanced at her Transylvanian brother and saw the smugness in his eyes over knowing the secret before her. One wouldn't have expected a vampire to be so petty. - Chip the executive producer paused to sip his Marguerita. "It's all the publicity our scandalous soap has been getting. That's what’s made us such a hot commodity. Movers and shakers r us." - Dragos sarcastically grinned. "And I thought it was the writing." - Chip didn't miss a sarcastic beat. "Oh. You mean we have writers now?" Then he laughed. - Dakota wondered whether he had gone mad again. - Chip suddenly raised his head, proud as a peacock. "The network finally came to their senses. We have officially been renewed for 100 years! But it's a secret right now so don't tell a soul." - Dakota thanked the soap gods. - The Hollywood blogger watching through the window thanked God he could lip read.
