Soap Sins July 30, 2012 CHAPTER 43 ALL RIGHTS RESERVED. LINK ONLY! VAMPIRE! Previously on SOAP SINS - Our cliffhanger will involve something so frightening and exciting that no one will see coming. But it will be dangerous so we’ll have to be very careful. There could be casualties.” - “In the scene?” - Dakota suddenly lowered her voice. “For real …!” The story now continues ... - Chip the producer told Dakota his soap star and now self-styled co-executive producer in no uncertain terms that he was not interested in anything that would get the actor's union breathing down his neck. High risk stunts were just not cost effective. - Dakota stood up and shook her pretty head. "My cliffhanger is all about shock and suspense. We are going to have a character on the show and he is going to be a vampire." Pause. "A real one." - Chip chuckled. "I know a lot of actresses like to dip into the booze and meds but never had you pegged as one of them." Now that she was his co-executive producer, Chip was speaking more freely. He had no hard feelings that she had blackmailed her way into the position, since she shared his passion about the show. And the show was everything. - Dakota replied she would be back shortly, flashed a smile, and exited. When she returned an hour later, she was accompanied by a tall, thirty something olive skinned man with a hawkish face. His eyes and hair were black and he wore his clothes with European elegance. - Dakota's eyes were bright, like she had just hit the jackpot."This is Dragos." - The two men shook hands. Chip looked bored. - Dakota continued. "According to the recorded history of the Transylvanian village his father came from, one of his ancestors in the 16th century was strigoi. That means he was believed to be a vampire, which means Dragos is descended from a vampire." - Chip suddenly became interested. "Fascinating stuff! Do sit down, Drag." - "That's Dragos." The unemployed model-turned-actor slid into a chair. Dakota sat next to her discovery. - Chip wanted to know everything about him and he had dollar signs in his eyes. Dragos was ideal, as he was American-born, had played soccer on a famous Spanish soccer team, modeled, and then studied theater in New York. Then there was the thing that was going to give him instant fame, the thing Chip had already decided he would plug big time. "You're a vampire." - Dragos nodded. He has been waiting tables for the last 6 months so if the well oiled soap machine wanted to hype his vampire storied background, he had no objection. He signed the contract they put in front of him without hesitation. - Chip was over the moon. Dakota asked him what they would tell the writer about the next script. He wasn't sure. Chip had about as much creativity and originality as a fly banging its head against the wall. But he did talk a good game. "We'll make him part of the cliffhanger." - Dakota removed the Australian designer hat she had donned due to the hot sun outside. "Darling, he IS the cliffhanger. Everyone has heard about a scary vampire on his way to town when Mr. Hunkalicious shows up with his tan and voila! We can plug his ancestral vampire history." - Chip chomped on his Cuban cigar. "By the way, how did you find him?" - "Madame Etelka the psychic introduced us. You'll be meeting her soon, since she's going to be the show psychic." - "Drag is our golden boy," Chip declared, then suddenly took the cigar out of his mouth and turned a whiter shade of pale. "But please tell me he's not a practicing vampire." - Dakota placed the hat back upon her head. "I can't because I don't know so until we do, we will have to be verrrry careful with any night shoots ..." |
