Soap Sins July 6, 2012 CHAPTER 41 ALL RIGHTS RESERVED. LINK ONLY! BLACKMAIL! Previously on SOAP SINS -Dakota took Nick by the arm and whispered they needed to make the persistent paparazzo leave. Nick muttered he had a plan. But before he could say another word, they were interrupted by a very loud scream. It had come from a beat up Mercedes at the end of the lot. The headlights were on and the car was shaking to and fro. They all raced over. The paparazzo lagged behind on account of his limp. Nick threw open the door as soon as he had reached the beat up Mercedes. Dakota's mouth fell open in shock .... The story now continues ... - It was the African Queen and Chip the producer, having just … gotten physical! Dakota was at a loss for words. Nick chuckled his ex still had that tattoo. Chip shielded his face from the paparazzo’s camera before the flash came. Nick was even faster than that. In a split second, he had knocked him out with a carefully placed knife hand strike to the temple. “Something I learned from a Buddhist monk,” he chuckled. When he wakes up, he won’t remember a thing." He bent down to retrieve the now unconscious photographer’s camera and promptly removed the film. - Dakota shut the car door. Chip emerged 2 minutes later, fully dressed, silently went to his own car, and sped away without a word. Dakota hadn’t said anything either. There was this unspoken law in the soap world - you never saw what you weren’t supposed to. - Nick carried the paparazzo and his empty camera back to his car and proceeded to leave him in the front seat. - The African Queen got out of the car and started to laugh. - Dakota gave her a genuine embrace. “I am so glad you’re alright!" - The African Queen rolled her eyes. “I might have known you would track me down. You and that rascal ex of mine who is now married to you.” - "So your kidnapping was …?” - “The threat was very real at first. The immigration agent who helped me come to the U.S. years ago tried to extort money from me when I was about to order dessert at my favorite restaurant.” - “The nerve!” exclaimed Dakota. “I hate extortion attempts before dessert.” - The African Queen agreed and continued. The immigration agent, who was in a great deal of debt, had become desperate and threatened her life. And so her contacts at Interpol arranged the bogus kidnapping. They had also wanted to whisk her away to London, where she already had a photo shoot for a fashion magazine lined up. Meanwhile, the immigration agent was under investigation. “Herman was going to drive me to the airport but then we became … sidetracked.” - Dakota’s eyes widened. “Herman?” - “Chip’s real name. Oh don’t look so surprised. Everyone in Hollywood uses a fake name! I even know that yours was really …” - Nick sauntered back and she stopped. Dakota asked whether she wanted a lift to the airport. She did indeed. And so she drove her friend to LAX, tailed by Nick in his slick red corvette, and saw her off. - The L.A.P.D. released a statement that the kidnapping had been a misunderstanding. They all made the news. It was a producer’s dream. Before waving goodbye at the gate as the cameras flashed, Dakota had managed to learn that the African Queen and Chip had been on again off again for years. It was all she needed to hear. - The following morning, she ventured to Chip’s new office on Sunset Boulevard. He was smoking a Cuban cigar and grinned upon seeing her. “The first few episodes of our now online soap opera were such a hit that they want the show on European TV.” - Dakota smiled and prettily planted herself in the chair across from his mahogany desk. “That’s wonderful! Which countries?” - “Er, I dunno, but they’re all in Europe.” - Dakota stared him in the eye, her smile as hard as a ruby. “You also have more wonderful news.” - “I do?” - “Yes, you do, darling. You have a brand new co-executive producer and her name is Dakota Diamonelle ...!” |
