Soap Sins Thursday, June 28, 2012 CHAPTER 40 ALL RIGHTS RESERVED. LINK ONLY! HYPE OR HELL? Previously on SOAP SINS - "Nick, we need to meet at the old studio parking lot." - He chuckled roguishly. "Now you're talkin!" - She pulled away and the cursing photographer became a speck in the background. "A psychic told me that was where the African Queen is." - Nick drawled he was on his way ... The story now continues ... - The old studio parking lot was more or less deserted, since the investigation into who had blown up the old studio was officially closed. As Dakota pulled in, she wondered why there was no security guard. Then again, since there was no more studio, there was technically nothing left to guard. This was where Madame Etelka the psychic insisted her friend the African Queen had been brought. Dakota stopped her car and wished she had a flashlight so she could at least have taken a look around. There were about a dozen cars parked, which was nothing out of the ordinary, since in L.A. people pretty much parked wherever they could. - Where or where was her prime time husband Nick? - As though on cue, he sped in with his red corvette and came to a stop beside her. "Hello, doll! Come here often?" - She got out of her car and shook her head. "This is serious. The psychic said the kidnappers brought her here." - Nick whistled and stood up, twirling his gold Michael Kors keychain. "Then I guess we'd better start searching." - A small blue car with a dent on the passenger's side made them both stop talking. They watched as the photographer from the National Gossiper got out. He was limping due to the fact that Dakota had kicked him in his bony shins. Nevertheless, he had not given up on tailing the soap star, who made enough news to have been dubbed the paparazzi princess by the press. - She sighed and raised a hand to shield her face. - The photographer did not make any move to snap her picture this time. "I'm after the story. I know about the African Queen getting kidnapped. A friend at the L.A.P.D. told me. I'm following the story. Gonna make breaking news with my photos." - Nick warned him not to interfere. - The photographer smirked. "Tell you what. I'll make you a bet." - Dakota impatiently drummed her long red fingernails on the hood of her BMW. "This is preposterous!" - "No, it is really all about HYPE. I know what you soap opera people are like and I am convinced this kidnapping was just staged to get publicity." - Nick dropped the Michael Kors keychain into his Armani pocket. "That's just plain crazy." - Dakota agreed. "You have to leave!" - "Yeah," seconded Nick. "We wanna search those cars." - Dakota wished he hadn't said that. - The photographer's eyes narrowed. "You think you'll find something in one of those cars. Go ahead. I'll follow you." - Dakota took Nick by the arm and whispered they needed to make the persistent paparazzo leave. Nick muttered he had a plan. But before he could say another word, they were interrupted by a very loud scream. It had come from a beat up Mercedes at the end of the lot. The headlights were on and the car was shaking to and fro. They all raced over. The paparazzo lagged behind on account of his limp. Nick threw open the door as soon as he had reached the beat up Mercedes. Dakota's mouth fell open in shock .... |
