| Soap Sins Tuesday, June 12, 2012 CHAPTER 38 ALL RIGHTS RESERVED. LINK ONLY! KIDNAPPED! Previously on SOAP SINS The show had done well with investors and things were looking very good indeed. That is, until Dakota received a shocking phone call that someone very close to her had just been kidnapped .... The story now continues ... - Dakota felt her fake tan turn pale. "Can you say that again?" When the police detective repeated that someone close to her had been abducted in broad daylight, she dropped her phone on the glass display case of the posh jewelry store they were filming in that day. She was relieved it did not get scratched. Her phone, that is. - She immediately went to the holding area behind the store and called Nick. "The African Queen has been kidnapped!" - Once he realized this was no joke, her prime time husband suggested they check with Waikiki Wanda at the Interpol compound, just in case this was a cover for his ex's latest assignment. "After all, she is a secret agent on the sly." - Dakota finished her scene at the jewelry store on Rodeo and was pacing the yacht for her romantic scene with leading man Bill when Nick finally called with an update. "Bad news, darlin. I had a contact of mine - a retired Hawaiian ukulele player - check out the Honolulu compound and it's all boarded up, no trace of anyone." - "Interpol moved on," Dakota sighed. - Nick was indignant. "You know, I am starting to think Waikiki Wanda wasn't even that guy's real name! And I thought show business people were the biggest phonies ..." - Dakota promised to call him soon and turned off her phone. It was showtime and the show simply had to go on. The scene went smoothly though Bill, like usual, was as drunk as a skunk. As the yacht was steered slowly in the Pacific, which was doubling as the Mediterranean, Bill, in character, delivered a flawless performance, ending with one of those sudsy romantic kisses soap operas were famous for. Dakota blinked her pretty false lashes and the director yelled CUT. That was a wrap. Bill reached for the flask in his pocket, grinned, and toppled into the water. - "Man overboard!" - Brent the blonde surfer dude dove in after him. Bill surfaced with a sloshed grin. One by one the cast members present all jumped in the water, happy and relieved that the day of filming had been a success. Dakota did not join them. She had a friend to save. The African Queen was just like her - a diva with guts and glamour. They were a dying breed. - Her only regret was that the five inch heel sandals she had picked up at Saks did not enable her to run, for she was a woman on a mission, in a hurry to save the fellow diva she had grown to admire. Dakota did not have much of a plan as she approached her small luxury car. But she had to find out where the African Queen was and she knew just the person who would be able to tell her. Someone on Hollywood Boulevard who liked to keep a very low profile. As she sped off in the night, her destination the street where Marilyn Monroe had dyed her hair blonde for the first time, Dakota had no idea that she was being followed ... |
