Soap Sins Monday, March 5, 2012 CHAPTER 25 ALL RIGHTS RESERVED. LINK ONLY! DOUBLE AGENT! Previously on SOAP SINS Within the hour, she had Tony the mobster eating out of the palm of her hand and was about to learn the shocking connection he had with one she had always trusted. Someone even closer to Dakota Diamonelle than Chip the shifty-eyed producer was a dangerous mole ...! The story now continues ... - Tony the mobster was a pretentious ass. His idea of impressing people was threefold. 1. to overdress for any occasion 2. to talk too loudly, unless there was an FBI agent in the room. 3. to order the most expensive item on the menu. While sitting at an outdoor table wth Dakota at the Polo Lounge, he had done all three. She smiled and flirted and encouraged him to keep drinking, as would any soap vixen seeking information. And he was very forthcoming, particularly when he boasted of having a mole on set. - She giggled and shook her head. "I don't believe you." - "You know him. Name rhymes with kill." - "Phil the stunt double?" - He winked. "Try again." - She crinkled her tiny nose and proceeded to think of all the letters of the alphabet she could replace the first consonant of kill with. And the first one was a B. "You can't mean Bill." - "I sure do. The lovable drunk. Who would suspect, huh?" - "But why tell me?" she pointed out. - "Cos I could use your eyes and ears at the studio too. What better way to recruit you than make you see I'm not such a bad guy. If I was, Bill wouldn't be spying for me. Well, if he didn't have those gambling debts from Vegas he might not, come to think of it." - The singing waiter interrupted them with their orders, placing the avocado salad in front of the lady, the wagyu beef before the mobster who thought he was a gentleman. The waiter walked away, still singing, unaware they had not even noticed. Only the out-of-towners appreciated his musical efforts. - Back at the studio, Dakota made for Bill's dressing room. He was asleep on the chair so she shook him until he half opened his eyes. - "We need to talk. What did you tell Tony the mobster about Chip and Nick?" - He sat up with a sigh. "This calls for a double." - "I'll give you double trouble if you don't tell me the truth. I know you've been spying for Tony the mobster." - "It's all mundane. I only give him mundane unimportant intel to get him off my back." - "Does he buy it?" - "Always. The guy's not too swift. But Chip was looking for an investor last year cos the production company was strapped for cash. Enter Tony the mobster, who wants to keep an eye on his investment." - "You still haven't told me what you said to him about Chip and Nick." - Bill reached into his pocket, pulled out a mint, and popped it into his mouth. "I overheard Chip saying that your marriage ending with Nick would not be good for ratings. It was just a trivial comment, but after I passed it on, Tony decided he would threaten Nick to stay with you. Chip got worried he would order a hit on Nick so he called him several times. Tony finally relented, agreed to back off." - "But Nick's plane did go down ..." - "I know. Tragic how life is more ironic than art." - Dakota decided she needed time to digest the information so she excused herself and went to the hair and makeup room to think. After trying on the newest wigs that had arrived, she returned to her pink dressing room and typed the following text message to Nick on her iphone. "Tony must have ordered hit on you ..." She was about to type that she was now a double agent, as the mobster actually believed she would be spying for him, but a loud knock at the door made her stop. She opened the door and soon felt the sting of an angry slap across her face. This, however, was no ordinary slap, for it came from a hand more manicured than she had ever seen. Nick's striking ex-wife, aka the African Queen, placed those hands on her hips, and glared daggers. "You are nothing but a fraud and I can prove it!" Dakota paused, wondering which one of the many secrets from her past had been discovered ... |
