Soap Sins Tuesday, September 20, 2011 CHAPTER 1 ALL RIGHTS RESERVED. LINK ONLY! The Leak - Dakota Diamonelle, the most famous soap opera actress in Hollywood, was standing in the Polo Lounge restaurant in Beverly Hills. Well, she wasn't actually standing, she was posing because she was a soap goddess and that is what soap goddesses do. She posed inside at the open door, scouring the patio for the face of anyone who was someone or anyone who knew she was someone, which meant just about everyone. When her big brown eyes spotted her agent Marv, she waltzed outside and joined him at the table where he had her favorite cocktail waiting. Marv lowered his voice. "So far the press doesn’t know that you've been fired from the show due to budget cuts." - Dakota took a sip of her cocktail. "As of this morning, I was rehired. One of the executives didn't want his dirty laundry coming out and I do have that editor friend at a tabloid." - Marv, a lawyer by training, nervously shook his head. "Sounds like blackmail." - She laughed and her eyes brightened. "I know. Isn't it delicious! I'm just as bitchy as the character I play on the show. Wonder whose heads are gonna roll." - Dakota pouted. "It must have been the new makeup artist. They don't get paid enough and that made him easy to bribe." - Brent nodded. "You comin?" - "In a few minutes. Tell them I’m on my way." Brent dutifully agreed and sauntered off. Dakota closed the door after him and smiled like the cat that had just swallowed the canary. Of course there had been a script leak. The script in question just happened to include her singing debut which had been planned for months. She had to make bloody sure it got enough publicity. That was why she had sent it anonymously to the editor of the only soap mag in L.A. that was not in the pocket of the network. And no one would suspect it was her, because she had already set up two people to take the fall - the makeup artist or young cast member who was already a known prankster. She powdered her nose, put on a black cardigan to look that much more serious, and headed upstairs, wondering who would last the day. The makeup artist or the prankster ...
