He marvels how the lad was like his mother and his life was an amazing gift. They sadly wish him a Merry Christmas. Hope now agrees to take what Alice wrote in her card as a future sign to be strong and solve the mystery. She holds up Alice's ornament and asks her what to do next. All of a sudden, the top breaks off and she finds a note inside! - EJ pretends he is innocent. John doubts it. EJ claims it bothers him that he is too arrogant to admit what he did to those people. Carrie and the guard are back at the door. EJ taunts him he is pathetic and old. John loses his cool and lunges to attack. The guard holds him back. Carrie exclaims at them both to stop it! - At the loft, Sami asks Will if what happened with Gabi is all that is bothering him. He refuses to talk about it. Rafe notes breaking up is never easy, but that still does not excuse what he did. He must apologize to Maggie and clean up the mess. Will retorts he would rather be alone. Sami insists he do the right thing. Will calls that funny coming from her. Rafe steps in. Will leers someone around here should do the right thing and departs. Rafe has no idea what he meant ... Sami later informs Rafe she had to withdraw some funds from their savings account. He sighs about not having a job. Sami promises they will get through it. He makes a snide remark about being a kept man. She knows he will find a job and tells him to have patience. Rafe now considers contacting Gabi, as he suspects the breakup was not what set Will off. Sami points out it was his first relationship, hence his teen overreaction. Rafe, however, suspects not even Sami believes that ... - Carrie gets mad at EJ, who claims he did nothing. She accuses him of provoking her client and tells him to just shut up. EJ arrogantly states his family name will be revered when this is all over, whereas John's will be destroyed. John doubts it. EJ reminds him he is being sent to one of the worst prisons in the country, insists this civil case will go to trial, wishes him a Merry Christmas, and exits. - Marlena muses Nicole threw away a wonderful life with Brady to be with the likes of EJ. Ominous music is heard as she adds she might not survive what is coming her way. - Hope opens the note, which was handwritten on the stationary of the phoenix. Bo is all ears. She reads it aloud. PLEASE EXTEND TO THE BEARER OF THIS CARD EVERY COURTESY THAT WOULD BE AFFORDED TO STEFANO DIMERA HIMSELF. Bo wonders what the hell it means. Hope stares at the foreboding black emblem of the phoenix. EJ is sitting on the sofa with Nicole and murmurs "Because I'd like you to come live with me." Sami wonders what the big surprise for her is. Carrie opens the door.
