Steve, Hope and John have guns drawn, held in the right direction. Aiden cowers. Theo weeps. Sniper Clyde soap stares, having shot the wrong man. His target was the D.A. and not the Salem mayor who stepped in front of him ... Joey has pressed the panic button but John's phone has fallen on the ground. Theo reaches his father and Steve asks if Abe can hear him! Clyde hastily puts his gun in his case, his cap on his head, and takes off. Rafe yells for all to stay down. Hope urges Theo to get back. They know which open window the shot came from and Steve urges Kayla to stay low as she creeps to wounded Abe. Hope orders Ciara to stay put but the girl thinks Theo needs her. John worries as Marlena rushes to bleeding Abe. Dr. Kayla is already there. John searches in his pocket for his phone, gun in his other hand ... Back at the warehouse Orpheus complains to Xander that Clyde shot the wrong man! At least they will get the ransom for the kids. They continue to drink ... John finds his phone and exclaims YES! He tells partner Steve he has got it! Rafe looks ready to take a shot at that window. John tells Steve which warehouse it is. Let's do it! says Steve. Theo begs his dad not to die. An ambulance and police sirens are heard approaching ... Kayla looks for an exit wound. It seems there is none. Ciara holds crying Theo close. Abe is hanging on by a thread ... Rafe has JJ at his side when he kicks in the door. They search but the sniper has left the building. Rafe curses and radios Randolph. He barks the shooter is in the area and he wants a full sweep no one leaves! JJ looks in the bathroom. Rafe finds a shell casing and intends to dust it for prints. He suspects Weston as Jordan had claimed the crook was a crack shot ... Hope is on her phone warning the bad guys are armed to the teeth. She consoles crying Ciara over Abe losing so much blood. Marlena and Theo have gone in the ambulance with him. Ciara cries Theo needs her! Hope agrees to send her with an officer. Now standing, Aiden watches them walk away together ... JJ has sent all security footage to the station. He deduces Clyde was disguised but Rafe has faith they will find him. Hope arrives and updates him on Abe. Cop JJ exits and Rafe shows his partner the casing. This was the doing of Clyde the crazed hunter! Abe is wheeled into the hospital. A thoracic surgeon has been summoned. Theo begs his gasping bleeding father to be alright. Marlena stays back with him and assures him they will manage together. They wait and he paces. She explains the surgery will take some time and adds Abe is strong. Theo suggests she worry about Claire. She does! Ciara arrives out of breath and tries to make her friend feel better. Theo is no fool. They have no facts with which to assure him ... Dr. Kayla has heard from the OR, the bullet exploded on impact and fragments went everywhere. It could be tragic. She updates a colleague. Meanwhile she waits for word on Joey ... John and Steve are outside the warehouse, guns drawn. John insists they play it cool with their game plan. On the inside Claire is working on getting out of her binds. Orpheus tells Zanimal the fact that the mayor was shot might make it easier to get the ransom. Claire works on the rope behind her hands ... Back at the station Rafe and Hope have found footage of Clyde entering the hotel. Aiden wonders. Seconds later JJ solemnly steps in with information to share - the intended target was Aiden! The devious D.A. suddenly does not look so cocky ... Ciara sighs at the hospital and tells Marlena that Claire has to be alright! Marlena agrees and thanks her. Theo has left a message for Lani and Marlena gives him her seat beside Ciara. Theo cannot be consoled. His father is the only parent he has left. Ciara states Abe is strong. Theo believes Bo was as well but even the strong are mere mortals. She assures him she will always be here for him and takes his hand. He emotionally thanks her and stares ahead ... Anxious Aiden is on a call. JJ and Rafe exit to check the detailed footage that shows the gun's initial target was Aiden's heart. Hope remembers Aiden's bombshell and glances over at him ... Xander is obsessed with taking down Theresa. He leers the hostages are no concern of his and then sees something. Tis the necklace in Joey's hand. Claire claims it is hers. Orpheus crushes it and rages it was a GPS. He pulls out his gun ... John and Steve are about to take their places but John sees the signal is gone from his phone. That means the bad guys discovered the GPS. BANG BANG! Shots are suddenly fired from the warehouse windows and they dive for cover ... Back at the station, JJ notes Abe saved Aiden's life. The D.A. drawls he will have to thank him. JJ now gets radioed to the docks, where gunshots were heard. Aiden watches as Rafe goes in a room with Hope, where she touches base with Ciara. There is nothing new to report. Rafe laments Abe taking long in surgery does not sound good. Hope is distant. When Rafe repeats the bullet was meant for Aiden she says nothing. He adds that tape also showed Aiden whispering something seconds before. Something that upset her. Hope denies it. Rafe can see she is rattled. She would rather not think about Aiden and gets a haunted look in her eye ... Down at the docks, there are more gunshots. Steve insists on rushing the door and asks for cover. First John takes a few shots and rolls away. Steve fires again. Inside Claire assumes it is the cops and stands up. She sits when Zanimal comes back to get them. Claire and Joe stand up at the same time and Claire bolts. Joey was right behind her. The door gets shut. He ends up alone with Zanimal, who knocks him out and points his gun at him in rage ... Marlena returns with words of hope for Theo. She too is waiting for news and sighs it will be soon. Kayla appears and states Abe is out of surgery in recovery. However the wounds are severe. She updates him on the exploding bullet inside him. There could be fragments in the wall of his noble heart. They must wait until the swelling goes down. A specialist has been summoned. Theo cries he could still die ... John and Steve only hear one gun now. John sees Claire race by and grabs her close. Shots are now fired in their direction by another gun. Clyde has come home! John growls they are being cut off. He points out to his partner they have no choice. They must draw back and return with reinforcements. Steve insists he needs to save his son but John warns him not this way cos he would end up dead. Claire flees first as instructed, the two heroes follow, covering her back . Rafe senses Hope is stressed. He now gets summoned by the lieutenant. Hope fibs she will be fine. She approaches Aiden and reminds him Clyde could target him again. The safest thing he can do is leave Salem and spend some time with Chase in Portland. Aiden smugly replies he would rather stay in Salem until a certain matter is settled and adds they still need to discuss the fact that she killed Stefano DiMera. Hope remembers warning Rafe this would happen and stares down the D.A. ... Marlena worries at the hospital as she remembers Orpheus the snake's insane interest in her granddaughter, his cruel threat to kill her right before her eyes. Kayla arrives and Marlena tries to be positive. She fears for Claire who was so afraid. Kayla does not want to give up believing her stoic son will come home ... Theo sadly sits at Abe's bedside. The sleeping Salem patient is hooked up, his shorts breaths labored. Theo flashes back to this father warning him that Ciara was a loose cannon. Theo had replied Ciara was within her rights to react in anger. In his view, Ciara was a good influence on him. Abe had praised the boy who had become a man, who stated he was happy with the girl. But that was then this is now. Now his father faces death. He reaches out to touch him as Ciara watches through the window ... Hope snaps whatever Aiden thinks. He snaps back he does not think he KNOWS. Claire interrupts when she comes running into the station. Hope hugs her. She asks about Joey and Claire cries it was bad ... John and Steve storm the warehouse with reinforcements including JJ. Alas no one is there. Steve is furious the fugitives fled with his boy and finds a few drops of blood on the cold floor. He vows to kill them all. This means WAR. END! |
