BASED ON DAYSCAFE NOON TWEETS WITH DETAILS ADDED! At the square Aiden discusses the power situation in Salem with an officer. They are on intermittent power only. It comes and goes. The square is being prepared for a mayoral press conference today. Aiden's mind wanders back to his damning recording of Hope discussing her guilt in Stefano's shooting with Rafe. Rafe was part of the cover-up as well. He remembers their words, how he left and recorded what they said. Every single guilty word! He decides to go back to the station and walks aware, unaware he has been tailed by Clyde in a cap. The hillbilly from hell goes the other way, past the cops ... Meanwhile back at the station Rafe and Hope suggest Abe give his press conference at the station, where he will be safe. Abe blasts the Salem PD for not doing their job and finding the three evil men who are terrorizing their town. He cares not about his own security and reminds them they do not have the authority to tell the mayor what to do ... At the cozy Johnson house Steve has a cup of decaf for Kayla but still no word on Joey. She refuses to rest until he is home. They lament Claire has been taken too ... John and Marlena return home. She sighs she was unable to reach Shawn and Belle, who must be beside themselves with worry. The blonde blames herself. John holds her close and murmurs they will make it through. They always do. He states their granddaughter is strong and smart like her and will lead them to her location. She should not underestimate her ... Claire and Joey are side by side at the warehouse, each tied to chair. Claire is confident and quietly points out she has a plan. Nearby Zanimal complains to Orpheus about keeping the brats. Orpheus ominously states they are of value at least for now. Claire blasts him and boasts her grandfather will win! Orpheus whips out his gun and aims it at her. He leers he would love to have an excuse to pull the trigger so better not give him a reason ... Steve wants Kayla not to stress but she cries over Joey and they hug. She gasps they have got to get a lead ... Ciara waits at the station with Theo. She thinks it feels surreal that this nightmare is happening to Claire and Joey. Theo agrees and speaks of Claire with emotion. Ciara notes she knows he cares for her a great deal. He does not deny it ... Rafe disagrees that the cops are incompetent. Abe angrily shouts anarchy and chaos have taken over the town and it might not end well especially for the hostages! He suddenly stops and tells Hope he is sorry for being so insensitive. Hope assures him it is alright. He suggests she can step back from the investigation. Tough cookie Hope would rather be involved. She can call the bureau for any news. Rafe respectfully thanks sir. Exit Abe. Rafe attempts to make Hope feel better by saying they will find the hostages. They embrace. Aiden peeks in and grimaces at the scene. Not for long ... With a glint in his eye, John informs Marlena that he had a secret weapon ready for Claire and went over the drill with her not once but twice. A necklace he had given her has a secret charm that can be pressed to activate an alarm on his phone, along with her whereabouts. A panic button of sorts He is going to let Steve know, since she is likely with Joey ... Claire counters her grandfather will find them. Orpheus calls the pair their get out of town free cards. Joey voices his fury that they killed his father. When Claire explains he did not die as he was led to believe, he laughs in relief. He gushes Orpheus is going down ... Orpheus sneers they will indeed strike soon and steps away. Xander finds it unfair he has to babysit the silly hostages. He wonders where Clyde is. On his own important mission. Orpheus does not elaborate. Today it will become crystal clear just what Clyde is capable of ... Clyde finds a case in an alley and gets a call from Jeremiah. He thanks his mountain man flunky for leaving him this beauty. BIG GUN ALERT! Ciara sighs she knows how scary it is to be a hostage ... Aiden goes to see Hope in her office. He babbles about the fugitives and is sorry about Claire and Joey. Now she he has something else to say. She cannot dismiss him this time ... John and Marlena join Steve and Kayla at home. They discuss Claire's necklace and wonder when she might activate it. They intend to attend today's press conference together to show a united front. The women folk go ahead. Steve and John agree they are ready for action, ready to roll as soon as they get the signal ... Xander lets it slip to the hostages that they will be exchanged for ransom. Orpheus orders him to say no more and leaves for a brief moment. Claire notices her necklace on the floor and moans. Zanimal roughly gags them both ... Clyde looks like he thinks he is Lee Harvey Oswald, at the window of the perfect room from which he intends to play the role of the Salem sniper. He cackles with his automatic rifle ... Xander gets on his phone with Stavros. It is about that offshore account. He steps away for better reception. Claire motions to Joey that her necklace is on the floor. He moves his chair forward and tumbles to the floor with it. Xander shoves him back up and shouts not to move again. Orpheus is back to set up for the press conference. Joey makes eye contact with Claire, who is pleased to perceive he is now holding the necklace behind his back ... Aiden wants to talk. Hope snaps NO. He tries to stop her from leaving. Rafe to the rescue! Rafe rages she wants nothing to do with him. Aiden retorts this matter is personal. Rafe proceeds to threaten him ... Orpheus calls sniper Clyde, who is waiting for his word to go. He shares some intel he got from Jeremiah - The Kiriakis men who went in yesterday were not expecting to not find them there. Victor is no longer a force to be reckoned with. However he might have teamed up with brutal brother Deimos. Overconfident Orpheus informs him they will all be dead by the time they flee forever ... Rafe wants to know what Aiden was really up to. Hope knows not. The partners leave for the square. When Marlena and Kayla arrive at the square, Abe apologizes for not having any news on the kidnapped kids. John and Steve come after but the power is temporarily off again so John has lost his signal. Marlena worries about the plan now. They can only pray that Claire is not trying to reach him ... Orpheus orders Xander to remove Claire's gag. Showtime! Claire looks down at the necklace, the dangling charm she needs to reach in order to be rescued ... Lee Harvey Clyde has his gun ready and frowns at Aiden. How he hates the D.A. He waits and watches while a crowd gathers. Standing at the podium Abe makes a speech about reign of terror taking over their town. All agencies are working to find the fugitives and free the hostages but the mayor is mad about the looting and vandalism. He warns there is a zero tolerance policy in place. Desperate times call for desperate measures. Their home Salem is under siege so obey the curfew ... do not go vigilante either. Orpheus interrupts the TV broadcast and introduces himself. He leers they do have Salem under siege. They should be afraid for the Salem Three will not stop until they have what they want! Joey and Claire are shown. Claire looks scared when the gag is removed from her mouth. She begs her grandparents to help her. Marlena gasps dear God for she has no necklace on ... Clyde gets ready to aim ... Rafe is on his phone frantically trying to find the signal. Orpheus lists their demands. Twenty million must be transferred to an untraceable offshore account as per their instructions. They must also be safely transferred out of the country, after which they will share the whereabouts of the hostages. If these demands are not met Salem will be plagued by more terror and chaos. The broadcast ends. Xander makes a Greek triumphant toast with his boss and they drink up. Claire pushes to Joey to press the necklace. He does just that ... Marlena and John can only pray Orpheus did not find Claire's necklace ... Abe keeps talking about the challenges facing their town. Rafe steps away and Aiden stands beside Hope. He leans in and taunts he knows what she did, he knows she killed Stefano DiMera. BOOM! Her secret is a secret no more, and Rafe the accomplice after the fact is also at risk! Hope's haunted eyes stare numbly into space ... Clyde's automatic rifle shines the telltale red light on his true target - the D.A.'s crooked heart. Abe ends his speech and steps in front of Aiden. Too late! Clyde shoots and Abe goes down! Aiden cowers under a table. Steve gets sweetness down and his gun drawn, ready to roll. John does the same, keeping close to Marlena. His phone has fallen out in the mayhem. Theo cries out. Rafe, Hope, John and Steve all have their guns aimed in the direction from whence the bullet came. John's fallen phone now gets the alert from Claire's necklace ... Clyde looks confused. Meanwhile Mayor Abe convulses on the ground, blood oozing from near his heart as his horrified son crawls toward him ... END! |
