The press has turned against him. Bo points out it sells papers to make him a villain. Hope now explains why she and Bo wanted to talk to Jen and Maggie. It concerns a secret Alice was keeping. They update the two on the secret bank account. The lawyer has given them other documents pertaining to Alice, but they have not gone through them all. Hope suspects Maggie was trying to help someone. Do Jen or Maggie remember gran giving a hint about keeping a secret? They have no idea and are shocked to hear the bank account was opened when Tom was still alive. Jen is baffled that transactions are still being made. Where is the money going, to whom, and why? That is precisely what Bo and Hope plan to find out. Hope asks to borrow Jen's computer, as hers has crashed. Jen agrees. She and Maggie are about to leave for the spa. Hope asks Jen about the situation with Daniel. Jen sighs everything is a mess. - Carrie drops by to see John and Marlena with a big problem she was given at the disclosure hearing. She hands him a photo. He stares, then squints and calls it a fake. Carrie asks Marlena if she recalls where they were on that exact date. Marlena checks and replies he was at a clinic in Switzerland, having an experimental procedure done. Carrie is relieved. All they need is the name of the clinic to clear his name. Carrie later gets off the phone in German. Unfortunately, the woman at the Swiss clinic had no record of John being there on the day in question. In fact, their records only show he was present the previous month. Carrie thinks Marlena could still vouch for him, but she did not see John go to the clinic that day. John recalls how he was sedated after and did not get a good look at the attendant's face when moved. He exclaims he was not in Paris, he was at that clinic. Someone went through a hell of a lot of trouble to set him up! - At the station, Austin shows Rafe the security photo of John as well as a printout showing the transaction which originated from John's fund. It was all done from his computer, which was traced to Paris at the time. But it was quite some time ago and he was standing, whereas Marlena said he only stood up for the first time recently. Rafe doubts Marlena would lie. Austin does not believe John would have risked Marlena knowing the truth. Rafe feels there must be another explanation. Austin insists the security picture does not lie, and it is stamped with the exact date. Rafe wants to show it to John, give him a chance to explain. Austin agrees. - At the Kiriakis mansion, Dan laments to Victor that Jack wants Jen back. Vic wonders if Jen wants him back. Dan admits he does not know. He starts to pace, calls the situation messed up. Vic asks if he does not know what Jen wants or if he does not want to know. Dan is unhappy she threw them both out. He feels maybe she had only intended to throw Jack out, but was then guilted into making him leave too! Such are the manipulations of Jack Devereaux. Victor drawls some women fall for idiots. He thinks Jen loves Jack because he is a jackass, which means Dan could have a big problem! Jack is uncoordinated and unreliable, whereas Dan is respectable and a surgeon. He thinks Jen wants Dan to be out of control when he is around her, too. Dan notes Victor has been married many times. Vic quips he could always send Jack to Siberia. - At the townhouse, solemn Rafe and Austin meet with Carrie, John, and Marlena. Rafe wants to talk on the record. Austin is sorry. Marlena understands he is doing his job. Rafe starts the tape. Austin asks John to look at the list of Basic Black financial transactions. John does. He denies ever seeing them and angrily claims someone must have hacked into his computer when he is told they were traced to him. John insists he did not make those transactions. Rafe would like the experts to have a look at his computer and phone. Carrie wants a warrant. Rafe produces it. Carrie agrees it is all in order. John retorts he cannot hand over his computer or cell phone as they were stolen! They can check as much with the Lugano police. Austin thinks that does not look good, as it appears rather convenient. John gets sarcastic. "I'm a master criminal. It's almost as if I were begging to get caught." This, he concludes, is the work of Stefano DiMera! - Jen and Maggie arrive at the Kiriakis mansion. Turns out their spa appointment was not until later. Victor steps way with fiancee Maggie. Dan now apologizes to Jen for his previous behavior. It was childish. She remarks it is a hard situation for everyone. Dan grins and invites her for a bite to eat. She smiles it is a great idea, takes his hand, and declares she has something to discuss with him. Dan is hopeful. - Back at Horton House, Bo massages Hope's tense shoulders as she checks her documents on Jen's computer. She does not want to let down gran. Bo reassures her. Hope suddenly finds an email from Alice to her attorney, thanking her for her help in a mysterious investigation. "Maggie will be surprised to learn the news!" it says. Hope now finds more. Alice has written a letter to Maggie, which will explain everything. Bo notes the date of the email is the day before Mrs. H passed away. What happened to that letter ...? - Back at the Kiriakis mansion, Victor and Maggie discuss Daniel. The Greek tycoon is unable to convince Maggie to put in a good word for Dan to Jen. Maggie primly states she takes marriage seriously. Vic thinks he deserves his happiness. He does not want to see his godson get hurt. He considers him family. - Meanwhile, Dan and Jen sit outside at the town square café, having coffee. Jen explains Jack has told her how much he has changed. He is trying and swears he wants to make things right. He also said he was sorry. Dan cannot believe she would let him get away with it, the way she and the kids were abandoned. Jen is torn, for she sees he still cares about her and the family. It reminds her of the man she fell in love with. She cries she is confused. Dan urges her to say how she feels. She does. She was ready to move on with Dan, but then Jack told her of his vow to be a better husband and father. She feels she owes her family one more chance. Dan stops her and wants her to hear him out. She changed his life after what happened with Chloe. He never thought he would be able to laugh or love again. He knows she feels the same way. She gasps she does. Dan suggests she not throw it away for a guy who will only hurt her again. Jen praises Dan for being her rock and saving her life. He makes her feel loved. Dan vows he will never let her down and implores her to stay with him. Jen blinks. - Back at the townhouse, Austin reminds the family that they would need something concrete to look into the DiMeras. Rafe asks John why they would strike again and now, as it has been years. Marlena shares her view that Stefano might have feared John would soon recover and go after him. John demands an investigation. Rafe replies he would need something concrete to launch one, as Austin pointed out. Until there is more, John is their only suspect!
