There is only one DaysCafe :) Now without further ado ... Rafe and woeful Will walk into Hope's office. Marlena is surprised to see Will. Rafe asks Hope to explain what she meant when she referred to Nick's last words. Marlena informs them of the voice message he left prior to being shot! Will and Rafe are disdainful after discovering he was supposedly seeking counseling. Rafe offers to stay with Will but he suggests he speak with Hope alone. Marlena asks him to call the minute he is done and appears anxious for her grandson. Now alone with Hope, Will announces to the dedicated detective that before Nick was shot, it just so happens he threatened to kill him! Hope gets official with the recorded interview and demands the nature of that argument. Will tells the tale of how he tried to take his daughter from him with the custody agreement. Nick also called him an unfit father so he slugged him though he certainly did not kill him. The now distant detective Hope numbly asks where Will was last night at the time of the crime. A frown creases the aspiring writer's brow as he tries to remember. Though unaware of the exact hour, he was returning a book to the library, then headed to the town square. Was he alone? Yes. She demands to know if he had a gun on his person. Negative. Will emphatically assures her he did not kill Nick. Hope decides they are done and thanks him for coming. She has already spoken with Sonny. This is news to Will. He stands up, urging her to believe him. She points out everyone is a suspect ... - At the club, Jordan complains to brother Ben about the chaotic night, the crime that was committed. Ben notes most people do not care that Nick is no more. She wonders whether that would include Abigail too. He defends her reaction, insisting she was in shock, not unsympathetic. Jordan suspects he likes the girl. He boasts he defended her against Nick. She anxiously asks if he is still in possession of that gun he used to have. - Abigail is at the park reading the latest on Nick's murder on her tablet. EJ comes along and charmingly greets her. He apologizes for not ... checking in. Abigail becomes bitter. He notes she appeared to be well taken care of by that new chap when he saw her last. Abigail reacts by implying EJ is responsible for killing Nick. EJ frowns. He tries to get her to calm down but Abigail screeches as she recalls how he promised her their secret would not come out. He warns her to lower her voice in the public place. She gasps he kept his promise and saw to it that Nick was forever silenced. EJ calmly reminds her of all the enemies cousin Nick managed to make. Abigail is not done yet. She accuses him of using one of Stefano's hit men. He denies it. Abigail exclaims the way Nick died had DiMera written all over it. It was the DiMera way, the settling of accounts. EJ grabs her and ominously swears he would never do such a thing as she has said. He whispers he swears it to her and touches her face. She nods in fear, gasps he is nothing but a world class liar, and takes off. EJ mutters to himself he is that indeed ... - At his apartment, Dan thunders at Nicole to explain the Chyka papers. She stands up and feigns innocence but he demands the whole truth for once! She claims not to know what they are. Daniel rages LOOK AT THEM. And so she does. She now feigns surprise at the stunning find that could clear Eric's holy name. She praises God. Dan gets sarcastic about her joy over these papers she has presumably never seen until this moment. She gushes she would have told Eric and offers to do it now. Dan grabs her hand before she can touch any paper and snaps to stop! The fake smile fades from her face. Dan the man means business! She insists this is the first time she has come across the papers and wonders how he got them. He breathes he discovered them on Smith Island. This must be what Liam was blackmailing her with! Nicole feebly denies the charge. Dan believes this could be the shredded paper she had in her possession once upon a time. That means all along she had sufficient proof to save Eric which she willfully withheld! What changed and why? Did Chyka hand over the evidence in return for his freedom? She gasps no, the dastardly doc overpowered her. This bears the hallmark of Stefano and Kristen! They set her up! She implores Daniel to please believe her and stop making such awful accusations. Pause. - As Jen and Eric start to scamper out of Horton house, she gets a call from confused Caroline, who is feeling guilty about Nick. Jen assures the matriarch she tried to help him plenty and hands the phone to Eric, who agrees she did what she could for Nick. No need to feel badly. - Marlena catches up with casual Rafe at the square and hopes her Will is not in any trouble. He drawls he is not but he should allow him to share the details. He is relieved to learn that Ally is seeing a psychologist and implores Marlena to speak with Gabi. Eerie music plays. Rafe adds Nick did a number on his sister. However, he cannot hurt anyone anymore and did them all a favor by getting killed. Marlena thinks Rafe believed Nick deserved to die, based on his words ... - Jordan fears brother Ben's lack of a gun permit could get him in big trouble with this murder investigation. He smoothly suggests then they should not tell anyone about it. She implores him to be careful and exits. Ben considers. - Cowboy Rafe alludes to Nick making many enemies. The way he treated Will ... Marlena gets worried. Rafe explains he will have to tell her the details himself. They discuss the fallout from Nick's machinations. Rafe recounts how he himself almost wound up dead when Nick's sworn prison enemy mistook him for the demented genius. Nick affected many people in the most negative manner. Marlena is curious if he means prisoners or regular Salemites. Rafe drawls he does not know or care. He is just relieved he is finally gone from Gabi’s life for good! - Hope gets off the phone after confirming she received the revealing photographs. Moments later, she bids EJ to sit down. He dismisses the notion that he needs an attorney. Hope records the interview. She starts by stating she has revealing photos of him as well as her cousin and wants an explanation. EJ peers at the face down pictures and panic starts to set in. Still he plays it cool ... - Jennifer and Eric discuss Nick. She feels she should have reached out more. Eric argues Nick did not reach out, nor did he care about anyone's feelings. She can forgive Nick and also herself given how busy she was. Jen is grateful for the heart-to-heart, as Nick is not a subject she can broach with Dan. - Dan declares Nicole is lying. She moans she speaks the truth. He recalls her bag of shredded paper and puts the pieces of the puzzle together in his medical mind. When Nicole realized what she had done to the man she loved, she tried to put the pieces back, knowing it was the right thing to do. That was the secret she kept trying to tell him. He thunders at her to tell him the whole truth right here right now. Nicole suddenly sobs it is true. I COULD HAVE CLEARED ERIC AND I DIDN'T. Boohoo! She sobs she is sorry. Dan rolls his eyes. - Rafe has a bouquet of cut flowers and a sweet kiss for his lady Jordan at the hospital. He thanks her for being so kind to Gabi last night. She wonders if there are any leads. Nothing solid. She asks who he would suspect. Rafe grimaces. - Abigail approaches working boy Ben at the club and thanks him for being there for her last night. He asks how she is doing. She admits she has caffeine withdrawal. He fills up her green cup and notes her frazzled state. She stares into space and sighs. - Hope dares EJ to turn over those pictures! He does and notes it appears to be Nick leaving the office. Hope thinks he looked upset and orders him to check the next one. That one is EJ leaving the office a mere half hour later. He appears to be angry, in Hope's opinion. She adds these security photos were from the same day Nick was murdered sooo ... she strongly suggests EJ summon his attorney. - Nicole cries she had planned to tell Eric of the proof after she found it in Chyka’s secret safe but ... then the priest of her dreams told her he had left the priesthood for her. Perhaps it was selfish of her not to present him with the proof, though he had already made his decision. It would not have made a difference. Dan rages it would have changed everything, it would have proven to the whole world and the Church that he did not willingly sleep with Kristen DiMera, and his reputation would be intact. She whimpers it would have changed things and that was what she was afraid of. Dan seeks to know how Liam came to have the papers in his possession. Nicole tells the tale of trying to put them back together. Then she learned the Chyka case had been closed so she went to the rest stop to burn the papers. Liam had apparently followed her, claiming to be a fan. He knew she was onto him, stole the Chyka papers and blackmailed her with them. Dan gets it. He prevented her from telling him and Jen about Liam but by then it was almost too late anyway. Dan now wonders whether she actually shot Liam to render him silent forever. Nicole insists she shot the loon to save her best friend Dan. She laments he will never forgive her. Dan drawls he does indeed forgive her. Nicole rubs her crying head with a hand. - Eric has something weighing heavy on his mind. The preoccupied ex priest admits to Jen that he has not told mama Marlena or volatile sister Sami of his engagement to Nicole. Jen teases and offers him her help in smoothing the stormy waters. Eric would appreciate her telling them how much Nicole has changed for the better. Jen gushes they are good friends too. They both marvel how happy she is these days. Jen insists they go celebrate Nicole and Eric's engagement right now! - At the pub, Will complains to Marlena that Hope actually taped their conversation. Marlena is sympathetic about the protocol. Will suddenly blurts out he hated Nick and is even glad he is dead! - Ben and anxious Abigail walk and talk at the pretty park. He thinks it is natural she would be upset, given that Nick her cousin was killed last night. He thinks she needs a friend. Abigail admits she does feel guilty. Ben concludes it is the result of how things ended between them. Abigail glumly sits on a park bench in her mini and blames herself. Ben insists the murder was not her fault but Abigail begs to differ ... - EJ scoffs those pictures prove nothing. Hope demands he answer her question about why they argued at the office. EJ initially denies there was an argument, then laughs. Hope stares. EJ concedes they did disagree. Hope suspects it was serious. EJ airily explains it was all business. Nick's new ideas were too similar to the projects he worked on at Countess W. Hope concludes it could have cost EJ millions, which would mean a motive for murder. EJ arrogantly accuses her of shoddy investigating. And she cannot prove opportunity as he and Samantha were at the town square in plain view at the time of the shooting. Hope warns him if they discover evidence of a professional hit, EJ DiMera will be high on her list. - Nicole throws her arms around Dan, grateful for his forgiveness. He believes she does love Eric. She promises to make him happy. She hopes Dan will not tell Eric what she did. No but she will! That is his condition. - Jordan arranges her spring flowers in a vase at the nurse's station. Rafe sighs if he was working the case, he would have to put himself at the very top of the suspects list! - EJ drawls Detective Hope can contact him should she have any ... legitimate questions and elegantly exits. Hope removes her glasses and gets to thinking. - Will admits to Marlena that if not for Rafe intervening in their fight, he could have kept going until he had killed Nick. Instead ... Marlena wants to know what exactly he is trying to tell her ... - Hope is speaking with Julie over the phone about Nick pointing the finger at at least one of the suspects, but which one? She picks up the picture of Ben standing with Abigail and notes it will take time to question them all ... - Ben thinks he might be making things worse by being here. Abigail begs him to stay and he sits beside her on the bench. She weeps how can she forgive herself for what happened to Nick? Ben tries to give her a pep talk about the kindhearted girl he believes her to be. She blinks. He adds he has never met anyone like her and kisses her on the lips. She kisses him back. - EJ stops at the town square to check his phone, unaware that someone is lurking, observing his every move ... - Nicole is back to being upset. Dan makes himself clear. He threatens to tell Eric the truth if she does not. Nicole rages she will not let him, snatches the Chyka papers and races to the door for her great escape, ignoring Dan's protests. But when she opens the door, she is met by the sight of smiling Eric and Jen, with a bottle of bubbly. Nicole stops in her tracks ...! THE END Ahead on Days of Our Lives Hope has some tough questions for the next suspects on her list. |
