There is only one DaysCafe :) Now without further ado ... Shot and bloodied Nick Fallon, the most hated loon in Salem, staggers into the square, stops, and falls. The suspects stand and stare. Julie howls who did this and tries to hold him, though Nick seems to be beyond saving as blood gushes from his bullet wounds. He tries in vain to point a finger, then loses consciousness. Julie cries Nooooooooooooooo! - Hope joins Maggie at the pub. The redhead explains Victor is out of town. Hope would like to have word with the redhead concerning Nick. He has been accused of meddling in the custody agreement. Maggie sighs all he cares about is Gabi. She tries to be optimistic about Julie that fluffy pit-bull talking some sense into the haunted Horton. Hope now gets an unexpected call that changes everything, though she cannot share police business with anyone and heads out in a hurry. - At the town square, little Ally is petrified by the sight of shot cousin Nick. Lucas, Sami, and Jordan try to calm her down. Rafe approaches Julie and Nick but Julie just wants him to stay away. She rages they all hate him and he must know who tried to kill him! The crowd starts to advance but Julie rages to get back, still hanging onto limp Nick, stroking his hair. She agrees to let health professional Jordan take a closer look. She opens his shirt and notes there are two wounds. Jordan asks Gabi for a clean cloth. Gabi numbly obliges. She looks like she has seen a ghost. Jordan asks Julie to apply pressure on the bullet wounds. Will tries to comfort Gabi. Diva Kate runs up and manages to distract Ally at long last with her purse. Sami gasps she wants to go with her as she is her mother but Lucas feels he should take his daughter, who is now listening to HIS mother. EJ agrees as he and Samantha must attend to the other children. The paramedics arrive on scene and get to work. Julie woefully whispers to Nick he will made it. Unconscious Nick is wheeled away on a gurney, still not moving, Julie at his side ... Detective Hope is soon on scene, seeking an update from Rafe. She is flabbergasted the victim walked into the square riddled with bullets. Did anyone see anything? Silence. Hope now orders the cop to secure the scene. Rafe leaves shocked Gabi with Will and Sonny. Jordan thinks it is grim. The suspects remaining head for the hospital. Most of them, that is. - Lucas and Kate escort Ally to the pub but she just wants to see favorite cousin Nick. Is he going to die? Lucas suggests they go home. Ally snaps no. Lucas suggests then they visit Caroline and wait here at the pub. Ally laments cousin Nick likes the pub and so they enter. Maggie greets them as they try to slip past. Ally is stammering about all his blood and Lucas takes her upstairs. The redhead corners Kate for an explanation. Kate is admittedly upset that Ally saw shot Nick. Maggie is more interested in how Nick is. Kate airily states it looked bad and the ambulance took him to the hospital ... - Nick has arrived at the hospital, where a doctor declares he must be stabilized for the OR. The thorax is involved. Julie must stay behind, much to her diva dismay. Will and Sonny arrive. Will asks Julie if there is anything he can do to help. Julie moans Nick did not deserve this. If only she had gotten him to accept her dinner invitation! Abigail and Ben race in and ask for an update. Julie starts to call his mom. Sonny tries to be optimistic, suggesting that Nick could still be saved. Julie suspiciously wonders just who Ben is. Abigail explains he met Nick too. Julie accuses the whole lot of them of hating him and steps away to sign some hospital forms. Sonny rubs his head. Will worries. - Rafe and Hope follow the trail of blood from the town square to the dark park, assisted by Hope's faithful flashlight. They eventually get to the scene of the crime. She asks Rafe about the people at the square. One or more could be involved! Rafe gets quiet. Hope announces anyone who was there is now a suspect! - EJ and Sami convene at the town gate as she gasps on her phone for the kids to be read another story . She then gasps to grimacing EJ that Nick literally almost pointed the finger at them! EJ instructs her to breathe and listen to him. Nick merely raised his hand, then dropped it. He doubts he even heard Julie telling him to show who did it. Besides, he would never connect the hit man to them. Their hit man is a professional, They need only worry about that look on her frightened face. He urges his beloved to breathe and gives her a tender kiss. Then he tells her to smile and starts to head for the hospital. Sami cannot believe he wants to go to the hospital. EJ points out William and Gabi are there and might be needing them ... - Gabi wants to know where Nick is. In surgery. Gabi now tells Julie how sorry she is. Julie recalls how happy he felt they had a second chance. She thinks Gabi must have some idea who would have hated him enough Gabi turns around and looks at the group that has gathered ... Maggie rushes in and Julie updates her. Their Nick is in surgery. Jordan urges Gabi to text worried brother Rafe, notices her distracted demeanor, then offers to do it herself. Julie sits and laments to Maggie she has yet to speak with the family. With any luck, there will be no need and the news will be good. She cries Nick reached out to her like a frightened little boy, arms outstretched. The two Horton women weep and embrace. - Back at the town square, Rafe sincerely wishes for Hope's cousin Nick to be okay. The overworked detective snaps she is busy doing her job, then sighs she was aware there was trouble brewing, but postponed talking to him. Now she might never get the chance! - In another room at the hospital, Will informs Sonny that the baby is with grandma and fast asleep. Gabi called and checked to make sure she had enough supplies. Sonny sighs Gabi is in quite a state. He wonders about Will. They are both shocked by the shooting. Will solemnly states Sonny has to get that gun back to Victor’s place as soon as possible. Sonny promises to do so - by tomorrow. - Jordan is very sorry for Gabi and says so, Will and Sonny emerge and inform the newly arrived Sami and EJ that there is nothing new to report. Maggie and Julie wonder as they watch Will and Sonny conferring with EJ and Sami. Julie mutters Nick attempted to tell her who did this. When he wakes up, then he will be able to! - Lucas comes downstairs to Kate at the pub. Ally is apparently asleep. Kate muses with any luck, Nick the notorious will be dead soon. Lucas stares darkly at his phone. Kate asks if his text says Nick is dead. He lies it is just a message from Sami asking after Ally. In reality, he is staring with consternation at his text communication with Nick. He had asked where he was. Nick had replied at the park. Lucas hastily deletes those texts. He decides to go to the hospital. Kate downs her red wine and follows, wickedly wishing for a reason to celebrate. - At the hospital. Maggie wonders if this shooting could be connected to Nick's old enemy Jensen. Nearby Sami laments to Will and Sony that Nick was Ally's favorite cousin. Julie storms over with her blood stained white blouse and calls them a bunch of vultures. Maggie discreetly ushers the distraught diva away. Rafe saunters in and hugs strangely quiet Gabi. Hope is now also present. The doctor lady emerges with dire news. The wounds were severe. He coded more than once. They managed to revive him at first but the last time ... Julie cries Noooooo! Nick is confirmed as having died on the table minutes ago. Julie wails to Maggie. Abigail covers her mouth in horror. Gabi stares in shock. Will and Sonny look nervously around, Hope is devastated. Gabi cries on Rafe’s shoulder. Abigail is close to collapse. Ben catches her. Sami gives EJ a guilty nervous glance. He winks at her. The group goes silent. Hope now informs Julie that Nick must undergo an autopsy. First the family has a few minutes. Julie invites gasping Gabi to come. Rafe feels it would be unwise. Julie implores the girl, as Nick loved her dearly. Rafe protests but Gabi gasps it is okay and goes with Hope and Julie and Maggie. Abigail thinks she should call her mother. She stands and stares in shock at EJ, sensing he was somehow involved. Sami gives Will a hug. Hope wants to talk to coworker Rafe, but he drawls he is too close and therefore cannot be involved in this investigation. He suggests she is too close as well but Hope is determined to find the killer. Nearby Kate is all about business as she asks Lucas about Nick's work contract, whether there was a death clause with a beneficiary. Lucas frowns and steps away. Meanwhile EJ quietly makes a call to his man to get rid of the hard copies, the photos but not wipe the drive clean, for that would be too suspicious. He orders him to find and destroy the flash drives. He wants any trace of those photographs gone before the police get there! Sami innocently taps him on the shoulder. What photographs ...? - Hope cries and says her final goodbye to Nick in the dim room where he lies stone cold dead. She laments he deserved better than this! She sobs she is sorry for letting him down. He was such a sweet soul who never found happiness. She whispers sweet dreams and kisses his head. - EJ claims he was referring to those incriminating photos of Samantha and Kate dumping Nick in the river. Sami has concerns about Percy. EJ drawls he is gone for good. He ushers his beloved away lest Julie start screaming more accusations in their DiMera direction. - Abigail tells Gabi she is sorry. Julie turns down her offer of help via mama Jennifer and sends the girl on her way. Abigail goes with Ben her shadow. Hope lets the family know where the door is. They soon open the dark door and enter the room, where Nick likes naked under a sheet. He is stone cold dead, his face visible, his eyes closed. The three women cry, but are they all crying for the same reason ...? Julie touches his face and tells darling she should have stuck with him tonight. Gabi is in the background. Maggie tells Gabi how safe Nick said he felt with her. Julie and Maggie feel terrible he did not seek their help and Maggie whispers to her angel to sleep well. Julie hopes God will give him peace and glory. The two women now give Gabi a moment alone with the genius who loved her, albeit too much. Gabi sniffles and stares as she flashes back to their once upon a time romance, including the crazy Valentine heart he wore, their wedding, the romance. She whimpers and touches his cold face, then moves back. - At the apartment, Will is holding the gun when Sonny comes in carrying a bag. They exchange a nervous stare. Sonny explains all was well at the club. Will is aware he came back earlier too. Sonny explains he had to get milk for Ari, which he had left here. He notes Will was checking for the gun. Will just wants it gone fast. Sonny patiently points out his parents are presently at the Kiriakis mansion so they must wait until the morning. Will adds first thing in the morning. Sonny senses his anxiety and assures him it will be fine ... - Jordan hands Rafe some water in the waiting room. He is not sure what to say to his stressed sister. Jordan thinks he is better at being a brother than he thinks. He is mighty relieved she stayed in Salem. So is she and they share a kiss. Gabi glumly appears and Rafe hugs her. He is sorry. She gasps she needed to see ... - Ben walks Abigail to her front door. He is sorry for earlier and says to take care. She says she should be sorry for being rude and sighs how to tell her family about Nick? He assures her she will find a way. She thanks him and he goes on his strong, silent type way. Abigail now remembers Nick cruelly calling her EJ's HO. Then came his untimely demise. Abigail shuts the Horton door and blinks. - Tired Sonny would like to go to bed. Will reminds him he would do anything for him. Sonny stares and says the same, with emphasis on ANYTHING. - EJ pours a drink at the mansion. Stressed Sami walks to the window. EJ is cool as a cucumber. He is no stranger to the wonderful world of hit men and revenge. Sami gasps and looks out the window. Her fiancé saunters up beside her and hands her the glass. She is harboring no doubt they did the right thing, but seeing Nick like that is not something she will ever forget. The mafia couple stand together, a united front ... - Hope has questions for Julie at the hospital, What was Nick's reaction when she asked who did it? Julie insists he was trying to raise his hand to point the finger. Hope wants the names of all present at the time. Julie answers without hesitation. Sonny Kiriakis, Will and Lucas Horton, Kate Roberts, Rafe and Gabi Hernandez, Jordan, the boy called Ben, Abigail, plus EJ the snake and Sami. That is all. - Meanwhile Sonny and Will are putting away the Kiriakis gun. - At DiMera mansion, EJ kisses his partner in crime fiancée and walks out, glancing at the portrait of smiling Stefano. Sami glances at it too. - Back at the hospital, the doctor pulls the sheet over Nick Fallon's face with finality .He will never be seen again. Let the whodunit begin ...
