There is only one DaysCafe :) Now without further ado ... At a room in the station, prisoner Steve's cuffed hands are clasped. Kayla comes to see him and the cop gives them their privacy. Steve asks how their son fares. Kayla gasps she knows he is covering for Joey killing Ava ... Meanwhile Joe is at the park haunted by what he did. He stands to leave and runs into Jade, who can see something is very wrong ... The flight from California has landed. Summer happily arrives home with Theresa, Brady and Nicole. The sitter took Tate for a walk. Brady shows Summer the guest room. Nicole tries to make Theresa feel better. The Malibu mermaid will not stay forever. In the worst case scenario she will turn out to be Maggie's problem not hers. Brady comes out and heads to the hospital to see about Summer's swab kit that went MIA and to get checked out. He urges Theresa to make nice but can she? ... JJ suspects Clyde's people of springing Ben from the slammer. Chad is enraged. JJ seems to think they need to warn Abigail. The ethereal girl emerges from the shadows, wondering what ... Steve insists Joey tell no one anything. Kayla cries their son feels awful and wants to admit the truth. Steve whispers Roman is aware Joe was in the room due to his blood on the pillow but he covered for him. He promises her he will beat this as they fight Ava's diabolical plan together. She asks what comes next. A self-defense plea as per Belle. Kayla cries she will testify too but fears their son will never get over this. He assures her they will prove what Ava was up to. Belle arrives. The judge awaits ... Chad greets his girl. Abigail appears to be confused. Chad advises JJ to tell her the truth. JJ soap stares. Then he finds his voice and fibs this is about them moving away. He was here to speak to Chad and assure him he is happy for their union. Abigail asks if this is his official blessing. He grins he guesses. Chad solemnly thanks him. JJ offers to wear a tuxedo to her dream wedding. She embraces him and he promises no one will ruin her happy day ... Justin suggests Steve make haste as the judge should not be kept waiting. Steve senses the D.A. has decided this is an easy win. But Belle begs to differ ... Jade invites JJ to get high but he gets a text summons and takes off ... Nicole talks business with partner Theresa about the publicity they could get from Abigail's wedding dress. Summer interrupts and sweetly thanks Theresa for the hospitality. She now asks for a tablet to go online. Nicole suggests she check out hers in her handbag. Summer does so and also steals her expensive sunglasses. She has sticky fingers! Next she does an internet search of Maggie Kiriakis, the wealthy woman she wants to be her long lost mother. Meanwhile Nicole and Theresa continue their conversation on the couch, not noticing ... Abigail wedding plans with Chad on the sofa as strange music plays. He kisses his dream girl and excuses himself on an errand. Harold can help if she needs wedding planning assistance. She gushes goodbye handsome. Abigail suddenly remembers her dress. She calls Theresa in a tizzy. She hopes the early wedding will not be too soon for the dress to be ready. Theresa lies no problem and promises to bring it over. Nicole gasps it is not ready. Theresa takes off to tell the seamstresses to speed it up. Nicole remains with Summer and slyly suggests they get to know each other ... Brady hugs Maggie at the hospital. She gets emotional about him going off so fast after his heart transplant. Brady smiles he is fine and looking after the heart. Maggie wonders whether his trip was a success. He gives her an intense look, longing to let her know he may have found her long lost daughter ... Theresa visits Abigail at DiMera mansion and declares the dress will be ready. Abi asks her to deliver it to Jen's house. Done. Abigail notes she is not quite herself. Theresa laments it is her life. Altruistic Abigail offers to listen. So Theresa sits and updates her on the strange sorry of Summer. Abigail is astonished it includes Aunt Maggie and has doubts. Theresa too but Summer is playing Brady and he is allowing her to stay in their home, believing it is Dan's wish. Abigail advises her to talk some sense into him and not allow the stranger in their house. Theresa appreciates the listen and departs to do just that ... Brady informs Maggie that he found the woman in his beach dream. Maggie has a busy day but they will talk more soon ... Nicole and Summer have coffee and a chat on the couch. Nicole asks if she was involved with Dan. Never that way. Summer asks how hard it is knowing that Brady has his heart. Nicole notes she has a history with Brady but would rather discuss Summer, who says she has nothing interesting to share. She excuses herself to the town square in a hurry. Nicole looks suspicious ... Steve is free to go! He credits Belle, who is not pleased D.A. Justin wanted to remand. She explains to the suited D.A. Ava was a threat. Justin asks her to his office to discuss ... A harmonica plays in the background as Steve asks Kayla where he should go from here. Home. Joey needs him now ... Abigail is making a list when she gets a call. Silence! She hangs up on the blocked number. Drums play. Louder drums play when Chad jumps a guy at the dark park. He apologizes when he sees it is not Ben. Chad is on edge, wondering when and where Ben will re-emerge ... Summer bumps into Maggie at the square and helps her pick up her fallen papers. Maggie is gracious and goes on her way. Summer managed to get a piece of her jewelry in the process ... D.A. Justin suggests to Belle that her clever client chose an inexperienced lawyer who would believe anything he said. He warns her she will not win if she goes to trial. Belle is cool as a cucumber ... Joey gets home, explaining he headed to the courthouse. His father fumes he should not go there. He made bail and Belle believes he could win with self-defense. Kayla confirms as much, given Ava's history and mental illness. They just need the right jury. Joey gets jumpy and decides he cannot allow his dad to risk jail for what he did. His parents are perturbed by his outburst ... Nicole is shopping at the square when she realizes her sunglasses are missing. She calls Malibu man Dario, who teases she must miss him already ... Summer is back at Brady and Theresa's home. She looks around and picks up a framed family photo. Theresa arrives and she tells her she has a beautiful family. She senses her discomfort. Theresa sweetly suggests a hotel and Summer states she has not unpacked. Theresa happily heads in her room to get her suitcase. Summer smiles strangely as even stranger music plays ... Steve wants Joey to cut the crazy talk. They will establish that Ava was out to get them. Joey blames himself for believing her. Kayla is unable to convince him he was not at fault. She gives Steve a pleading look so he sits by his son and points out the wicked woman is dead. She cannot hurt them anymore. Now is the time to come together and fight. But how? Patch glances at sweetness. He has an idea ... Nicole asks about her sunglasses. Dario has not seen them. Nicole states Summer came back to Salem. Dario drawls he intends to come back to Salem to see the family and collect on that drink. Nicole gushes he is ON and gets going ... Abigail is surprised when Chad comes up behind her and sneaks a kiss. Then he takes out his errand - a beautiful bracelet. Tis Thomas' birthstone. He hopes she will wear this for their wedding. Romantic music plays as she cries she loves it and slips it on her wrist. She recalls what a crazy day it was and gushes she is here with him, Ben did not kill them. Chad emotionally vows nothing will ever happen to her and they romantically kiss in bliss. Then she puts her head on his shoulder ... Brady is home and displeased with Theresa for letting Summer leave for a hotel. He admits she does seem neurotic but the poor soul is lost. Theresa notes he does not know her. Belligerent Brady blasts her for not wanting him to help ... Belle believes she can sell the self-defense plea to a jury and glides out of the doubting D.A.'s office ... Steve has left the building. That is, the house. Joey asks his mom if she thinks he can prove what Ava was up to. Kayla is convinced he will not let evil Ava have the last word ... Steve crosses the yellow police tape and slips into Ava's dark hotel room. He hunts high and low for the diary he knows she always kept. Alas it is not in the drawer. He now spies a glowing red bag in the darkness. Inside he finds a serpent on what appears to be a key chain. The serpent holds a clue. And so it begins ...!
