There is only one DaysCafe :) Now without further ado ... Men in black Rafe and Steve are back at the station, grumbling they got nowhere with the safe house search. Steve receives a telling text from the ISA. It seems the phantom alliance no longer exists. They ousted leader Ling and imploded. They have been had ... Ling wants John to have some food and attempts to feed him breakfast. John gasps he just wants his son. Ling just wants that blood from his own son ... Rafe deduces Ling went rogue and is now acting alone. That changes everything. Steve suggests they get back to the grid. They examine the map ... Ling slowly walks away from John and has his men drag Paul to another room. His grandson is strapped to a chair, gagged, blindfolded, and a device is placed over his eyes so he will see and hear fast words and images. The brainwashing begins ... Ed wakes up in his hospital room. He spies his son in the darkness and is surprised he stayed the night. Dario angrily declares he has questions ... John finds the strength to stand and pull at the ties that bind him to the pipe. He groans and pulls with all his manly might until it shakes rattles and rolls ... Yo Ling has few men to lead now, only a few thugs for hire. With no organization behind him he could only have made John vanish by staying in the building. Rafe suspects the basement ... John pauses as one of Ling's henchman approaches. John wants to make a deal but the thug turns him down. He wants him to stay quiet so he does not have to keep coming back for a few hours. John is alone again and gets back to work. He pulls and pulls until the pipe breaks and he falls to the floor on his dried blood ...Rafe and Steve study the blueprints of the old building. There is a door that seems to have been walled in which leads to the basement. They now notice a duct large enough to crawl through and get a head start on the back up Rafe has summoned. The men in black are on the move ... Steve and Rafe have their guns drawn. They steal inside the building and Steve climbs up to disable all cameras except one which has been tampered with. Rafe stands guard lest they be spotted. Steve silently gets down ... Meanwhile a guard comes back to check on John, who is waiting for him. He jumps him and quietly chokes him. The guard goes down. John swiftly takes his keys, his flashlight, and races to rescue his son ... Back at the hospital, deceived Dario has harsh words for his father the trained assassin. Ed admits he was brainwashed and believed them that he was special. Dario demands to know how many he killed. Ed muses his never missed his mark. He confesses he was ordered to go to different countries and get close enough to his targets. Sometimes it took time and he had to blend in. Dario bitterly states so he needed a family. Ed admits that is true but tells him he did love his wife and kids. However, he could not stay. It was too dangerous and the organization would have killed them in a heartbeat. Dario accuses him of destroying them all ... Rafe and Steve have their backs turned when a figure in black comes up behind them. They turn around and Marlena holds her hands up. DON'T SHOOT! She refuses to turn back so Steve hands her his gun and tells her not to shoot him. She quips not to tempt her ... Meanwhile John unlocks a door and discovers a woman under a blanket. She does not stir so he keeps moving, desperate to save his son from Ling the loon. He finds him in the next room and races inside. The brainwashing had just begun. He stops the program and sets his son free but Paul is too weak to stand. He looks into his eyes and asks if he knows who he is. Dad. John carries him over his shoulder and prepares to make his great escape ... Meanwhile the Mod Squad are on the move. They move like phantoms in the night but not the bad kind ... John takes a few steps,only to be surrounded by Ling and his men, who are aiming their guns at his head ... One lone guard jumps Steve so Mod Squad Marlena knocks him out with her gun. The blonde means business ... Paul is taken by the bad guys again. Ling is proud and praises John's Winterthorne training. All of a sudden the Mod Squad arrive. Rafe orders the thugs to drop their weapons. John rushes to Paul, who is sitting weakly against a wall and assures him they are going home. Ling smiles strangely at Marlena, whose eyes widen with worry ... Dario rages at Eduardo for daring to return and endanger them all. He blames him for Rafe being shot. Ed laments it was not safe as he thought. Dario concludes they can only be safe if he goes away ... Marlena joins John as he attends to Paul and wonders how his son got here. John sighs he was snatched. Ling explains he is pleased to finally meet the beautiful doctor. Marlena asks John who that man is. He fumes it is his father and she is not sure how to respond ... Ling smiles and suggests they talk over tea. Rafe suggests he read him his Miranda rights. Ling refuses to acknowledge any rules from those who are war mongers. The delusional vet has his own version of greatness. John scoffs at him for wanting his blood and trying to make his son follow in his fanatic footsteps. He is informed the alliance ended. Steve states they tossed Ling out and turned on each other. Ling warns John he will wind up like the revolutionary Robespierre and lose his head. John concludes he should not have survived the Korean War. They will get it right this time with capital punishment! He ties his hands as Rafe reads him his rights. John notes now he has no choice but to pay for his crimes. Ling craftily claims there is always a choice, turns, and before they can stop him, swallows a capsule containing poison. It is an old war trick - to takes your life before the enemy can get to you. John breaks down and tells him not to die. He holds him and gasps he owes him answers. But Ling is dead within seconds. Now John will never have his answers ... Backup has arrived and the scene is secured. Ling's body is not moving. John lets Rafe know how he disapproves of the danger he let doc face by coming. Rafe replies she would not take no for an answer. John believes it! He asks about Eduardo, relieved when Rafe replies he made it. John advises him not to judge Ed by who he was before and notes he loves his family. Marlena and John help Paul slowly walk out with them. John pauses to show Rafe the room where there was a woman who appeared to be sleeping. Rafe follows him inside, crouches down, and cannot believe who he finds lying there alive."MAMA?"
