There is only one DaysCafe :) Now without further ado ... Chad scoffs when Abigail states he is her newborn son's father. He calls it a pathetic attempt to get him back and speaks more mean words. Abigail is exasperated and insists she would not invent an illness about her beloved baby ... The victims of the crash are brought into the hospital. Only Jen is conscious and not badly off, for she was wearing her seat belt. but her back hurts. Brady is brought in with blunt force trauma to the chest. Eric is having pulmonary problems. Doctors Kayla and Finn are on the job. Finn's face falls when he finds out Dan is in dire shape and was not even breathing when found. The dedicated doctor who has saved so many lives now seems likely to lose his own ... Abigail implores Chad to come to the hospital and explains that Ben's blood is not a match, as was discovered after their DNA was studied. Chad suddenly looks serious. Very serious ... Meanwhile Salemites are still enjoying the New Year's night. John and Marlena arrive home and she gushes how proud she is how he handled Ava, then romantically reminds him of their great year ahead. He grins roguishly. All of a sudden they get the call about the accident and make for the hospital, shown in slow motion. Meanwhile Victor and Maggie enjoy champagne at his mansion. He toasts to the woman he thinks of morning noon and night. All of a sudden, they get the call about the accident ... JJ is having a sweet moment at the square with Gabi, gushing how great she looked in that dress. She invites him to a post show model party and he accepts, pausing to leave mama Jen a voice mail lest she worry. He wants to kiss Gabi but gets the text and takes off. Meanwhile Nicole is with Theresa telling off Kate for speaking for all of them. Kate concedes she did and admits it was due to her fear of failure. She insists she would have taken the hit had they not been a success. Nicole softens and suggests they do it differently next time. Theresa gets the text and takes off. Nicole gets a call and also heads to the hospital, unaware that alas she is too late for love ... Chad's head starts to spin and he snaps Abigail is lying. She urges him to remember the man he really is, the man who saved her and said they would be a family with Thomas. She reasons evil Andre has done something to his mind but Chad shoves her out the door and shuts it. Abigail walks numbly through the square. Chad fights the flashbacks in his room but cannot forget making love to the woman he loves once upon a time at DiMera mansion. He is soon not far behind her ... Stunned family members and friends start to stream into the hospital. First Theresa and Nicole race in. Theresa takes off like a bat out of hell for Brady's room, where she hears the doctors discuss his damaged heart due to blunt force trauma. Her eyes widen with fear ... Nervous Nicole knows not where her fiance's room is ... Dr. Kayla is now with Eric, who has suffered a collapsed lung and has some strange symptoms ... John and Marlena rush into the waiting area. They go their separate ways to find their biological sons. He heads to Brady's room and she hurries to Eric ... Maggie arrives with Victor. Nicole is still standing there and implores Finn for answers. Where is Daniel? He sadly states his old friend's body is being kept alive but there is no brain activity. DANIEL JONAS IS BRAIN DEAD. Nicole and Maggie break down. Nicole does not want to believe it especially because his heart is still beating but Finn explains that is because he is an organ donor. The organs are being kept alive as long as possible. Nicole weeps she wants to see him. Victor escorts devastated Maggie somewhere more private. She leans on him for support and weeps ... Marlena is tenderly touching unconscious Eric in his room. Dr. Kayla comes in and updates her on his condition, then asks whether he ever had a respiratory infection. Marlena replies he did once. Roman arrives and Kayla gives her brother a sympathetic hug. Roman fights the tears and tries to keep it together. He puts a reassuring hand on Marlena's shoulder. She weakly wonders how this happened. He woefully informs her their son was drunk driving and caused the big crash. Marlena gasps in horror ... Theresa cries for Brady to fight for she and Tate need him. John overhears and is touched. He now goes to his unconscious son's side ... The machine keeping Daniel alive is loud. Nicole enters and takes his warm hand in hers, the hand that is alive but dead. She wails not to tell her what they had is gone and wonders how she will be able to live without him ... JJ joins Jen in her room. She updates him from her bed, unable to move due to the pain and the neck brace she is wearing. Otherwise she is said to be alright. JJ is relieved and offers to call Abigail. Jen updates him on Chad being baby Tom's father and he gasps Oh My God. She asks him to check on the baby in the pediatrics wing and not worry his sister unnecessarily, for she went to tell Chad her news ... Abigail is sadly staring at the teddy bear in a window at the town square when her phone rings. Tis JJ, who tells her of the accident, assuring her mama Jen is alright. They exchange I love yous and she walks away from the window. Chad now arrives at the same window and also stares at the teddy bear ... Victor comes to Brady's room and asks John how he fares. Father John updates him on the blunt force trauma, the fact that it looks bad, then asks about Dan. Victor laments he has lost the godson who was like a son. Daniel did not survive ... Nicole gives Maggie a moment alone to tell Daniel goodbye. Alone with him, Maggie cries in the corner, then slowly makes her way toward his bed ... The store window that Abigail was just staring at seems to have an effect on Chad. Memories of making love to her at DiMera mansion, when their baby was conceived, race through his head. He suddenly reminds himself of la familia and keeps going in his semi-robotic state ... Concerned Kate arrives at the hospital and asks the nurse about the condition of her dear friends Daniel Jonas and Brady Black ... Victor steps into Dan's room to tell his godson goodbye. He tells the redhead to stay, he cannot bear to be without her. She asks about Brady ... Nicole is sitting in the waiting area all alone, She listens to Dan's last video message, his hopes for their future, the fact that he loved and was proud of her. She hangs her head and sobs shake her body. Her heart is broken ... John joins Roman and Marlena. He holds her close and she weeps. Roman stands aside, his heart quietly breaking ... Maggie weeps on Victor's strong shoulder as he stares into space. Nicole now returns to Dan's room, holding onto his ring on her finger for they were engaged for real ... Doctors Kayla and Finn are sorry to interrupt Victor and Maggie's private moment but time is of the essence. They explain that Brady requires a heart transplant due to the crash and Eric requires a heart transplant due to heart failure that was caused by a respiratory infection. Victor offers to make some calls, throw some money around. With all due respect, this is about now. Both Brady and Eric's blood types match Dan's. Maggie does the math and deduces she is being asked to decide which one will get her son's HEART. THE END! Ahead on Days of Our Lives: John puts Brady before himself.
