| Thursday, December 31, 2009 All rights reserved. Link Only HAPPY NEW YEAR! - Sami stands by the festive fireplace and recalls the ransom note. Enter Rafe, who grins and exclaims Happy New Year! He is ready for their private party. He has a party in a box, including champagne and glasses. They reminisce about their past New Year in the safe house. Rafe teases are her days of going rogue behind them? He is joking but it is enough to make Sami uncomfortable. He later has news. He may be reinstated by the FBI and thus have access to files that could help find Sydney! Sami is elated. He walks off to get more champagne. Sami frantically places a call to EJ and announces she wants to tell Rafe about the ransom note - tonight! Sami disagrees with EJ's (unheard) reaction and ends the call when unsuspecting Rafe returns with another bottle of champagne. He asks who she was talking to on the phone. She says it was just EJ calling with nothing really new. They smile and he pours champagne. Rafe promises 2010 will be better. She hopes so. Chaos, but they will be together. He makes a toast to them, friends, family. Sami eats and he tells her he would like them all to go camping this year. He remembers how last New Year's eve, he was starting to fall in love with her. Their life now means everything to him. They kiss and kiss and kiss ... - At the hospital, Nath runs into Dan, who is spiffied up for his date at Chez Rouge with Chloe. Nath will be there too, with Stephanie. They talk about Mel and Phil's sudden engagement. Nath thinks she is too young. Dan points out it is not too late if he has unresolved feelings for her, and heads off. Nathan decides he is right and marches off to talk to Mel in person. - Also at the hospital is Carly, who is praised for saving a life. She glumly flashes back to killing Lawrence. Dr. Dan comes back to get his wallet and also commends her for saving that life. She nervously quips she was just doing her job. Dan senses something is bothering her. He is there if his old friend needs to talk. Carly sadly admits that no amount of lives she saves can make up for her taking Lawrence's life. Dan is baffled, as he had heard someone else confessed ... "I did it. I killed him," Carly woefully whispers and walks away. - In her garish bedroom, Vivian puts Lawrence's letter back in a wooden box and coos she will find that bastard child! - Meanwhile, Hope excitedly confirms to Justin that Vivian and Vic are bound for Chicago tonight, so they will be able to snoop around. Great. Justin will give the staff the night off. Enter Vic and Vivian. The Greek tycoon states it looks like the pair of them are conspiring! Why their whispering? Hope fibs Justin was giving her advice for Ciara. Victor seems satisfied with the response and departs with Viv for their Chicago celebration. - Phil and Mel are in Maggie's kitchen, planning for their honeymoon in Vegas. Phil wonders if Mel really wants to do this. She insists she is not having second thoughts. But she hopes Kate will not try and poison her! Phil explains the elopement was not why Kate was after Chloe. He now talks about them. The only thing that would hurt him now would be if someone tried to hurt his Mel. He gives her a tender kiss and vows to protect her. Mel, later alone, looks at a pic of Nathan wistfully. Knock knock! Tis Steph, ready for her date with Nathan, but there to pick up Maggie's camera for her. Elegant Seph is soon about to leave with the camera and spies the luggage in the corner. Mel tells her she and Phil are getting hitched in Vegas. Steph assures her she is happy for her, but notes Mel does not look that happy. Steph lets her know that things are going well for her and Nathan. Mel wants to discuss. Mel reminds her that by this time tomorrow, she will be Mrs. Phillip Kiriakis. She is over Nath. They exchange blessings. Steph is all for her marriage to Phil. - Glam Julie and glam Maggie talk about their fine men - Doug and Mickey. Ring ring! Tis Mickey (unseen, unheard) with news that he has an important meeting. Maggie is disappointed. Julie suggests the couple take a cruise to get away from it all, watch sunsets together. She knows someone would could book them on a romantic cruise soon. Maggie is interested but what about tonight at Chez Rouge? Julie tells her to put her best foot forward and join her and Doug. Maggie shows a pretty red shoe on her foot. A present from Mickey! Flashback to Mickey (John Clarke) giving her red shoes way back when she was in the hospital, and telling her she was born to dance. Julie and Maggie now head out together, - Dan puts his arms around Chloe at the Java Cafe. She thinks he looks delicious! He is dressed up to make her happy at Chez Rouge but she was ready to head to the hospital party at the pub, to make him happy. They kiss and opt for a private party! Enter Carly. Dan will be ready after he takes care of something. He then approaches Carly, as he did not think they finished their earlier discussion. Outside, Viv and Vic happen by. Vivian spies the pair having an intense conversation thru the window and notes it is a night for conspiracies! She enters just after Carly has told Dan all about how dangerous Vivian Alamain is out to get her. Carly orders Vivian to get out of her way. Vivian coldly brings up Lawrence. Exit frazzled Carly. Chloe rejoins Dan. Victor makes a snide remark about Daniel talking to Carly. Dan warns him to let up on her and any schemes he might think he has going with Vivian. Outside, Carly has a nightmarish flashback of being buried alive by taunting Vivian years past. Vivian remembers too and turns around, casting a triumphant glance at Carly, who scurries away. Meanwhile, Vic warns Chloe that she should not be happy about Daniel talking to the likes of Carly and implies she could snatch him away. Dan has heard quite enough and leaves with his beloved. Victor now confides in Vivian that he is concerned about Carly getting close to Daniel once he has had his fill of sex with Chloe. Vivian tells him not to worry, she will find that bastard child and destroy Carly! He advises her to be careful as he does not want blood on his hands. The Greek tycoon grumbles he has now lost his appetite. - Back at the house of Kiriakis, Hope and Justin sneak into Vivian's bedroom. They rummage through drawers, etc., in search of the paper that will enlighten them on Carly's secret that Vivian knows. They try to open an adjoining door, which is locked. Hope then looks thru the walk-in closet, where she finds the wooden puzzle box. She could always open such things even as a little girl and proceeds to do just that ... - Outside the pub, Nathan runs into love struck Phil, who is holding a bouquet of flowers. Where is Mel? Phil grins they are eloping in Vegas. No way, says Nath! He insists Mel is just confused and punishing him. Phil insists she loves him. He calls Nath on his overblown ego. Their heated argument escalates. Nath declares he will find Mel and warn her not to do it, not to get married. Phil takes the first swing and punches him! A cop comes along and breaks it up. Nathan and his bloodied lip, however, keep going, so the fighting fellas get arrested! - Back at the hospital, Dr. Carly has yet another horrific buried alive flashback. She tells herself Vivian can never know about her daughter. Never! - Mel gets a phone call and has news for Steph. She will never believe where their guys are right now ...! - Phil and Nathan are wished a Happy New Year by the cop who shuts their jail cell door .. . - Chloe and Daniel are soon down at the pier, where he remembers last year, when he took her in his aras and carried her at exactly the same spot. As the fireworks light up the dark sky above, Dan gallantly sweeps her off her feet all over again. He drawls he will continue the tradition, gives his beloved a lingering kiss, and carries her off ... Back at the house of Kiriakis, Hope and Justin hear voices - Victor and Vivian are home! Vivian wants to get him a herbal remedy to help his appetite. She opens the door to her bedroom, where she and Victor are greeting by the sight of Justin and Hope, kissing passionately! - In bed, Sami and Rafe bask in the afterglow, listening to the fireworks outside. She announces she has something to tell him. He gets out of bed to bring more champagne first. Now alone. Sami receives an urgent text message from EJ and reads it out loud. "We need to meet. It's important. Don't tell Rafe ...!" Next on Days of Our Lives "You're gonna ruin her life and I'm not gonna let that happen!" Nath exclaims to Phil. "Bo has moved on, Vivian," says Justin.
