Rafe reasons there are two new suspects. Hope muses they both seem innocent. They now discuss Dario. Rafe deduces his mysterious silent partner must have been the driver who hit Abigail ... At the square cafe Abe is appalled to read online that Chad confessed. He lectures Theo for breaking the law all for nothing. His son sulks ... At DiMera mansion Andre announces to Kate that he bears bad news. She is already angry Chad confessed to killing Deimos and even angrier Andre did not tell her earlier ... At the loft Joey and Claire read about Chad's confession. She wonders whether Sonny will be released. Joey feels for Chad and informs Claire he too will confess to his own crime ... Steve heads to the pub, but no Kayla. He updates Roman on their spat, the fact that she is not even taking his texts. He fears their family was shattered. At the hospital Kayla ignores Steve's texts and remembers how it all started. Steve insisted on tracing his son Tripp. Real Tripp now interrupts her thoughts ... Steve sips his ale and complains about Tripp trying to set up Kayla. He wrongly assumed she had killed Ava. Roman curses under his breath. Steve adds his son then snapped and threatened her ... Kayla tries to give Tripp the brush off. He persists. She agrees to give him a minute of her time but not alone. He laments he is sorry. She eyes him with doubt ... At the elegant Marton restaurant Lani joins Eli at his table, to talk off the record. She is sorry to say she should stop working with him ... Rafe wishes FBI Eli would at least give Hope some details about the Dario case. Hope assumes he is after an airtight case. Rafe mutters Myron knew nothing as Dario wanted it that way. Hope starts to do the detective math and senses this will be someone they would never suspect ... Abe assumes Theo was after the damning picture of Chad, which means he destroyed evidence! Theo does not deny it. Abe rages he could face arrest! He wishes he would beware of the DiMeras but loyal Theo thinks he was right to help the DiMeras, given he himself happens to be one ... Kate complains that Chad confessed cos someone told him about the damning picture! Andre admits he did to show how much Abigail loved him, what she was willing to sacrifice. Kate hisses he hurt their bottom line. Andre explains both Chad and Sonny are going to recant so his release could take a while. Kate insists on dealing with the board herself as they do not think Andre is sane ... Claire urges Joey to reconsider. He lets her know he already told Tripp the truth ... Tripp grovels and holds himself responsible. He snapped as he remembered his mother was murdered in her sleep, the way Kayla was sleeping at the hospital. He mutters his mother must have gasped for her last breaths. But he was wrong and deserves prison for his unforgivable behavior ... Eli senses Lani's anger. She admits Raines has been putting the squeeze on her and even threatened to fire her. She countered the mayor could fire him in return. Eli laughs. She admits she would never ask as much of Abe, as it is not what a good and noble man like him would do ... Rafe mutters he and Hope must commence their own investigation. Raines enters and they change the subject. Raines asks about Dario, then decides just as well he left as that will be one less criminal in their midst. Rafe grimaces ... Joey insists to Claire he has to confess ... Back at the pub Steve tells Roman of Joey's torment. Roman reasons he too would suffer since he covered up for him. Steve cares not what happens to him but Roman knows Kayla does. Steve updates him on her threat to send Tripp to the slammer if Joe goes. Roman is surprised. Steve wonders where to go from here ... Tripp tells Kayla that Claire convinced him not to run away. Instead he is here to face the music and he overheard what Kayla said. She admits she was angry and would be within her rights. However she cannot turn in Steve's son and wants neither son's life to be destroyed. Tripp is overwhelmed and feels unworthy. Kayla asks one thing in return ... Back at the station Raines is after information on Dario and the hit and run. He rages Lani has forgotten who she works for and walks out. Rafe asks Hope why she did not mention what Eli said about Dario's mysterious partner. Hope explains she played the family card with him. She has no intention of repeating it and also wonders why Eli is being so secretive with the Salem PD ... Eli agrees it would be advisable for Lani to stop working with him on the investigation. As she leaves Val arrives and he notices her glow. She gushes about the earrings Abe gave her. Eli diverts his gaze ... Abe mutters to Theo that as the mayor he would not be able to help him. He orders him to quit his job at DiMera. Theo stands up to him and says no. Then he walks away ... Andre is annoyed the board believes he is unstable and lists all he did to help Chad. He points out when he divorces Kate she shall be on the outside again, whereas he happens to be a DiMera. Kate states he is no Stefano and he would not resort to empty threats. Andre lets her know his threats are neva empty as dangerous music plays ... Roman remembers how he tried to help Eric by waiting. It pained him to see his son go to prison but now he is a new man! Enter Joey, who quits on the spot. The time has come to confess to the cops. He asks Steve to accompany him to the station ... At the station Lani assures Raines she is no longer working with Eli but refuses to reveal what he shared. She also apologizes for implying Abe as the mayor would abuse his office in any way ... Eli probes Val about the expensive gift. He gets suspicious when she gushes Abe paid cash for it ... Theo is back at the loft and lets Claire know about his conflict with Abe. She hopes he is not going to get in trouble working with DiMera, connected to Chad ... Andre dares Kate to divorce him and be free. She pauses and he purrs she cannot cos the fraud of their union could lead to legal trouble for her. Kate sweetly apologizes for being harsh and suggests they forget this conversation. He knows neither of them ever forget anything and teases she overplayed her hand this time ... Roman attends to his ringing phone. Tripp and Kayla arrive at the pub. She announces Tripp has something to say. Steve and Joey are listening ... Abe looks stressed at the square. Eli comes along and teases him for all the expensive gifts he is giving his mom. Abe asks if there are any leads on Dario. None. He asks if the case has been closed. On the contrary. Strange music plays ... Claire could not bear for Theo to get hurt and is sure Abe feels the same way. He laments he cannot leave his job at DiMera but worries about his dad. Claire holds his hands, assuring him it will be alright .. Eli summons Rafe and Hope to an urgent meeting. They are on their way ... Tripp stammers Kayla was kind enough not to press charges. He also tells Joey he feels he already paid for what he did to his mother. He now knows how people can be pushed to do bad things and suggests they all move on. He will never repeat what Joey did to Ava. Steve is stunned. Kayla agrees. They await Joey's response ... At the park Eli quietly announces to Hope and Rafe that they will be bothered when he reveals who Dario's mysterious partner really is ... Back at the square Abe takes out a wad of cash to pay. He suddenly seems to be a rich albeit stressed man ... Theo calls Claire his friend and they come cutely close to a kiss ... Back at DiMera mansion Andre overhears Kate on the phone with Shin assuring him Chad will be out of jail at the end of the day. She blames Andre for not being up to handling the task as expected yet again. Andre stands in silence and takes it all in from the shadows ...
