Soap Sins Monday, January 23, 2012 CHAPTER 19 ALL RIGHTS RESERVED. LINK ONLY! HE DIDN'T DIE! - Dakota fluttered her eyes open and stared in disbelief at the familiar face of the prime time star holding her in his arms. "Nick? Is it really you? What happened?" - He grinned and helped her to her feet. "You fainted, darlin'. Loved the effect! Look, we're already drawing a crowd." - Dr. Dick the botox king pushed his way past the curious onlookers and placed his hand on her shoulder. "Are you alright? They said someone had passed out." He glanced from smiling Dakota to Nick and then nodded. "Grand entrance. Does it every time." The botox king shook Nick's hand, welcomed him back from the dead, and discreetly excused himself. - Nick took his daytime wife's hand and led her to the back garden of the hotel as the tanned bellhops ushered the crowd back to wherever they had been. It was a major no no to even notice a star at the Beverly Hills Hotel. And snapping photos was not allowed. - The Hollywood couple glided past the bungalows and trees and sweet smelling flowers until they had reached another path. Nick stopped and explained it was this place he used to come to think, back when he was a pool boy and struggling young actor. - "By the way, you look terrific." - She felt herself blush. "So do you, and you're not even dead! They said you were in that awful plane crash." - "I was, but I survived and managed to hike to the nearest village." - She pouted. "But you never called me." - "I wrote a couple of letters. As a fan. I was the one who alluded to your house in the Hollywood Hills and your favorite perfume." - "The president of my fan club thought you were a stalker." - "Then you didn't realize it was me?" - "How could I? They said you were dead." - Nick nodded and placed his Armani sunglasses back on. "Thanks for reminding me. I'm supposed to be dead." - She suddenly squeezed his hand and blinked. "I'm not imagining this, you really are here!" - "Only for you and a few trusted contacts." - "Oh Nick, why do you keep speaking in riddles?!" - He suddenly lowered his face to hers and she assumed he would kiss her. However, he stopped about half an inch away and whispered "I have enemies." - "Who?" - "I don't know yet but I'm going to find out. That plane was sabotaged, I am sure of it, because somebody wanted me dead. And that person might have moles who are ready to finish off the job." - "No!" she gasped, and for the first time in years, it was a sincere gasp, not a fake one. - He touched her lips with his forefinger and looked deeply into her worried eyes. "You too could be in danger so I want you to be very careful and not tell anyone you saw me." - When he removed his finger, she lowered her voice. "Where will you be?" - "Staying with you in the Hollywood Hills and keeping close so nothing bad happens to you." - "People will recognize you." - "I won't be me." - "You mean ...?" - He grinned. "This is Hollywood, land of disguises. A brief meeting with my trusted makeup artist and presto! I will become Ricardo your cousin. No one will know it's really me." - "Oh Nick, you're a genius!" - "I was when I married you in Vegas." He removed his Armani sunglasses and gave her a passionate kiss. Dakota kissed him back, her eyes shut, and wondered what kind of sleuthing team they would be, for she had no intention of taking a backseat, danger be damned ... |
