There is only one DaysCafe :) Now without further ado ... At the club, classy Kate speaks on her phone of the secrecy. She gushes great things await and then angrily ends the call. Cowboy Clyde praises her for her lying! He offers his assistance. She coos she has it under control. Clyde suspects this is connected to Chad DiMera! He notes Chad interrupted them at the mansion hollering up a storm. That was when Kate started to seem off her game ... At DiMera mansion, Sonny blasts Chad, only to find out both Jordan and T knew the big news before him. He accuses Chad of hiding he was co-CEO of DiMera from him because he happens to be a KIRIAKIS! He lets it slip that Victor said something. The idea of Victor knowing makes Chad tense. Sonny notices. Eric has been putting things in their place at his new apartment. He is pleasantly surprised by the appearance of Roman and Marlena at his door with housewarming gifts, including a toaster, Marlena admires the photos and carvings. Roman lets him know he was relieved he was not moving away from Salem. He is damn glad he stayed! Father and son hug. Marlena smiles a warm mother’s smile. At the Kiriakis mansion, a happy reunion continues. Maggie automatically assumes Dan knew Mel was coming but the mini redhead tells her she told no one. Maggie wonders why. Mel’s eyes flicker, then she teases this way was more fun. She swears her to secrecy lest she ruin her surprise. Mel wonders whether Brady is home. No. Maggie muses she is not telling her everything. Mel gushes she is back for good. Maggie notes she did not mention coming home when they recently skyped. This is sudden. Mel giggles she is an impulsive girl. Stuff came together, plus she missed the family. She now says she is sorry about Nick. Maggie gets things are easier for her without his presence in Salem. Mel adds there is another thing … her friend is moving to Salem too. Maggie wants a name! Tis a female friend from Europe. There has been no new man since she left. Maggie now informs her Chad is back. Mel gasps good for him and claims not to care, though she is clearly frazzled. Maggie pries. Tender music plays as Mel insists she has no feelings for him. They share another hug. At the park, Dan playfully wrestles Nicole, who whispers he is on her. He whispers yeah and sorry and gets up. She stammers it was fun but she has to depart. Dan shouts STOP! They must sit down and discuss what just happened. He invites her over to his pad. Nicole would prefer a public place. Dan declares his place is private. Nicole hesitates. Dan morphs into macho mode. His place now! Nicole gives in and away they go. They soon settle with tea on his sofa and he repeats it is great they are pals again. He treasures their friendship and neeeeeeds it. She seconds the notion. When he mentions the attraction between them, Nicole gets flustered and spills her hot tea all over her hot self! She struggles to clean it off her purple top and admits she hates talking feelings. But Dan is a down to earth guy and he wants their friendship to last. She diverts her gaze and he goes first. Rebound is a hard place to be. Nicole agrees but this feels … different than regular rebound. There is indeed an attraction. They agree not to act on it - at least not without much thought. Her phone rings and she drops it, bending over to pick it up. Dan wants to help but knocks a glass of water/wine over. It soaks her hair. At Horton house, JJ struggles to find the words for Jen about what he did. She waits and he flashes back to sleeping with her enemy, the mother of the girl he loves. Jen assures her son he can share anything. Ding dong! Tis Paige calling on JJ with an apology. She simply could not stay away. Her eyes are filled with the sadness of losing a first love. Almost. Jen gives the pair their privacy and checks on something in the kitchen. JJ had assumed … Paige implores him to remember she loves him despite his emotional upset, despite the space. She assumes he loves her still? He replies this is a bad time and promises to call later. He ushers her to the door and she politely leaves. JJ hangs his head in shame. Jen urges him to confide in her. He tries and admits that since Paige found out about Jack, things have simply not been the same. At least not for him. He fears what he feels for Paige will be destroyed by drama. Jen gives him a pep talk. The past is in the past and need not affect the future … Chad calls up conversing Kate – who is currently with Clyde – and announces Victor Kiriakis is already aware of his big news! He is a nervous wreck. Sonny is still standing behind Chad at DiMera mansion, cool as a cucumber. Clyde discreetly departs. Kate is miffed to hear Sonny knows thanks to Victor and gets impatient with Chad. Who else knows! Jordan and T. Kate gets sarcastic. Chad adds father knows. Kate scoffs about the Judas. She will do damage control by calling Merkel and sarcastically compliments him on a job well done. Click! Chad rages about Victor’s possible interference and talks tough. Sonny stares him down and sternly reminds him they had agreed as business partners nor to let their powerful family names come between them. So if this is about his father … Chad thunders this is about him! Their eyes meet but who will blink first? Chad now politely presents his partner with a new drawn up agreement, giving Sonny much more power and profit, plus cash in a contingency account in case more expenses are incurred with the new club. Sonny seems surprised he wants to continue being his partner. Chad apologizes for being secretive about his future, the fact that he has to further distance himself from the day to day club operations, and extends his hand. Sonny agrees they are good again. He is relieved he was wrong. Chad suggests Victor was the one who was erroneous. Sonny smirks Victor told him nothing. He alluded to something, but Sonny figured it out on his own by provoking Chad. Chad is impressed. He charmingly grins it was well played and refers to him as a real Kiriakis. Sonny leaves with the new contract, feeling much better than when he came … Mel gets jumpy when she hears a noise. Brady? Maggie laughs probably Henderson the butler. Mel says oh, her eyes still haunted. She hopes Brady is doing better. She asks Maggie to tell Henderson not to inform anyone he saw her here. Maggie charmingly agrees and walks out to do just that. Mel tries to tell herself she is fine. She opens her black handbag and removes her phone, taking a deep breath. Henderson hurries in to welcome her home. She made grandmother happy. Exit the butler. Maggie now wonders what has her so shook up. She can trust her. Mel wants to tell her but also wants her to keep the secret - from everyone for now. Mysterious music plays … Nicole dabs at her damp self. Dan teases her, then suggests she shower and borrow his sweats while washing her clothes in his washing machine. He has stuff to take care of so she will have the place to herself. She is grateful and glad they talked. So is he. Exit Dan. He laughs while leaving, then pauses pensively by the elevator … Kate complains about having to tell someone how to do his job and hangs up. Clyde comes back. Kate now confirms her new co-CEO is none other than Chad DiMera and she is not pleased about it. Clyde takes it all in. He acts sympathetic about her having to work with a silver spoon upstart and tells her to whip him into shape. Kate excuses herself to speak with Sonny. Clyde wishes her luck and saunters out. Kate now approaches Sonny, asking about Will, who has not been in contact at all. But Sonny is no fool. He suspects Kate is really here to talk about Chad. He drawls things are good. Kate scoffs why, because Chad gave him his “word”? Sonny soap stares ... Outside Clyde runs into Chad and condescendingly congratulates him. He proposes they celebrate his new job – him and Kate and Chad and Jordan. Chad leers he knows from the way she looks at him that Jordan loathes her stepfather so it is not gonna happen! He goes on his haughty way … Mel states all the bad history was a deterrent to her returning but then seeing a little boy Parker’s age made her realize life was passing her by. So she decided not to let Vivian and Nick and Gabi and Chad rule her life and keep her from loved ones. Maggie praises her for her maturity. Mel is amused, though her eyes are still haunted by something or someone … Maggie asks her granddaughter what comes next … Dan presents Eric with a compact combo hammer/ screwdriver as a housewarming gift. Eric laughs about his crowded … toolbox. He invites him in. There is a cross on the wall behind him. Dan wants to talk. He wants to be candid to keep their friendship, though he fears he will not like what he is about to say. It concerns Nicole … Jen offers to speak with Paige. Broody JJ decides he should be the one to talk to her. Jen points out Jack made amends and that was how all affected were able to move on. Just like the way JJ turned around his life before Paige came into the picture. JJ would like to be alone with his thoughts. Jen understands and departs. Once alone, JJ glances at Jack’s picture and appears to get an idea. He mutters Jack made amends … At the pub, Jen leaves an urgent voice message for Marlena … Meanwhile JJ calls Paige from Horton house with an apology and an idea. He does not want them to be over but due to certain complications, no one, including their moms, can know! Paige is perplexed. JJ promises to explain when he sees her soon … Back at the club, Sonny insists he and Chad are fine in spite of Victor’s old school view, that the Kiriakis and DiMera families are enemies. The new generation is different. Kate calls Victor a survivor, a wise man. Sonny is surprised she seems to be against Chad. Kate implies Chad is a Stefano in the making … Beware! Nicole answers the frantic knocking on the apartment door, believing Dan forgot his keys. There she stands clad in her wet towel. Mel lets out a cry. WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE! Nicole is not sure how to respond … THE END Ahead on DAYS: The cat is out of the bag for Kate! Nicole faces tough questions. Paul irritates Chad. Clyde’s lies know no bounds. |
