Steve calls her with an update on Jade's mother not knowing or caring to know her whereabouts. He hears Kayla is hoarse. She fibs she feels fine and urges him to continue searching for their son ... Somewhere in the California is a hippie compound called Nirvana. Jade's aunt Simone warmly welcomes Jade and Joey and asks what his story is. He seeks a fresh start. She smiles he is in the right place ... Summer serves Maggie tea. Maggie wonders what is making her so nervous. Summer lies Victor does not like her. Maggie assures her she wants her here and Victor will accept it. Summer is ready for the redhead's therapy. Maggie is ready to get to know her daughter better ... Chad is with Thomas in his stroller on the serene institution grounds, Abigail at his side. She is wearing a robe and a worried look on her pale face. She snaps NO when he states he arranged for mama Jen to visit. Abigail laments she is in an institution and her mother will not take it well ... Nicole appears at Deimos' door with the signed Basic Black contract. He is pleased to see her and suggests they celebrate with ... coffee. Nicole comes in and compliments him on his big ... baby grand piano. She asks him to play so she sits down to play a haunting melody. Nicole begins to behave like Helena, standing with her eyes closed, swaying to the song. Deimos is not unaffected ... In the lab dedicated Dr Fynn has isolated the virus, which happens to be synthetic. It seems Ling the loon injected Paul with it to cause chaos. He orders it sent to the CDC chemist right away ... Chad tries to make the fair and now frail Abigail feel better but he is fighting a losing battle. She laments she will never overcome and refers to her grandmother's mental state. Chad refuses to believe this is her new normal. But she is not getting any better and it bothers her. He wants to believe she will and clasps her hand. The baby stops crying but then she speaks to him and he starts crying again .... Steve meets Jade's papa Hal at the pub. Tough Hal admits his daughter is nothing but trouble and took off when they tried to lay down the law. He thinks they are better off without her and is sorry she might have run away with Steve's son ... Abigail is unable to cope with the crying baby and exclaims he hates her. An orderly appears and asks if she is alright. Chad replies they are fine. Abigail gasps she is sorry and goes away with her. Thomas stops crying. Jen nervously arrives and updates him on the strange virus, how the hospital turned her away from seeing JJ. She is disappointed to hear that Abigail left already ... Steve hands Hal his card and asks him to let him know if he hears anything ... Kayla attempts to get out of bed but Fynn will now allow it. She needs to rest so the virus does not get any worse ... Chad sighs Abi is ashamed. Jen sighs Laura said the same thing. Chad thinks they are different. The doctor approaches the family and explains the family visits are giving Abigail pressure. The patient has decided to postpone all family visits until she feels better. They worry. Chad does not want to accept it. The doctor sweetly suggests they give her some time ... At the hospital suited Marlena has just seen Paul and asks Fynn about Kayla. She is in bed. Marlena gasps and asks about the IV bags. Fynn explains they found the virus and the CDC chemist is on his way. Marlena the healer wants to help. Fynn asks her to keep all patients calm and in their beds ... The commune is colorful and auntie lets Jade and Joey have the atrium with desert view. They just have to pull their weight and contribute ... Chad agrees they will give Abi breathing room. Jen acts like an emotional wreck. The doctor departs to get Abigail and Chad announces this is for their son's sake. The lady doctor returns and explains Abigail asked her to apologize but she will not be back as she needs rest. Chad wants to know when they will be able to see her again. The doctor replies vaguely cos it will take as long as it takes. Chad hangs his handsome head in sorrow ... Steve spies Claire at the square. He laments Joe could be in danger now as he is MIA with Jade. He suspects she is keeping a secret and implores her to let him know if she knows anything at all. Claire admits he mentioned L.A. Uncle Steve hugs and thanks her ...Joe's new desert paradise is sounding more and more like a CULT ... Chad returns to the mansion with Jen and Thomas. He thinks his son senses the bad energy. Jen wants to take Thomas to her place for the night. Chad replies with a resounding No for he is aware of her habit. Jen accuses him of acting like she is a drug addict ... Deimos is staring at Nicole as she sways to his music the same way Helena did. He stops. Nicole wonders why. Is she really that much like her? Deimos drawls he does not live in the past. Nicole innocently hopes she does not disturb him. He suspects she wants to disturb him and warns he has an eye on her. Nicole gets close enough for a kiss and coos she is counting on it ... Victor ends a call about information and runs into Kate at the square. She rubs in her good luck. He snarls she whor-ed herself out to his brother for big money. She boasts she is running Titan too ... P.I. Steve calls Kay and invites her to come to California with him. That way they would both be able to get through to their son. She croaks she cannot. He hopes she is not sick. Quarantine Kay fibs she is fine, just busy, and urges him to bring their son home .... Steve now calls Hal and leaves a message asking if his daughter has any link down in L.A. ... Summer gets off the internet, mumbling may Clark stay dead and buried. She stands up and sweetly greets snarly Victor, who turns down her offer of a sandwich or any other food. Maggie is asleep. Summer insists she is here to help them both. The Greek grimaces ... Nicole and Deimos come close to kissing until Kate's voice interrupts. They stand up and he states Nicole is leaving. She came by with her signed contract. He turns away and assures Kate Nicole will do a good job. Kate pouts in her pink suit ... Jittery Jen is in denial but Chad knows what he saw when she was slurring and stumbling until Lucas came. She stammers she is attending meetings. Chad cannot chance letting her have Thomas overnight. Jen gasps she will get better and departs with tears in her eyes ... Abigail is ambling on the grounds all alone. She comes across Thomas' stuffed bunny and holds it close to her heart. Then she decides he would be better off without her and dumps it in the trash, sobbing. Meanwhile at DiMera mansion, Chad holds their infant son and assures him his mommy must be thinking of him.
