There is only one DaysCafe :) Now without further ado ... BASED ON DAYSCAFE NOON TWEETS: At the hotel in California, Kayla and Joey await Steve, who went to get coffee. They stayed the night so Kayla could rest. She feels in fine form now. Joe blames himself for everything. Steve calmly comes with the coffees and a smile. He reminds worried Joe that mom happens to be a doctor. She feels fine now as she is improving. Joe noticed Fynn was staying close. Fynn, however, is now gone with the wind. Steve wants to keep the peace with all the family. He suggests a long road trip with some scenic stops. He drawls a Johnson family road trip. The family hugs ... Meanwhile Jade is cowering at the commune. She holds the crystal Joey gave her and secretly texts him. As it turns out he has not yet left as Kayla is a tidy packer who takes her time. Steve wants to be a model hubby. She teases they are not married. Joey suggests a wedding in Vegas. The mood is light until Joey reads the text from Jade. She implores him to HELP! Joey wants to be her hero but his parents are against it. He insists he is going back to save her. Steve and Kayla insist on coming ... Back in Salem JJ is helping move some of the stuff from Marton house for Julie. He sets down a big chest in Horton house and Jen gasps at his bruised chin ... Back in California, the Johnsons get to the commune. The doors are locked, blinds drawn. Joe perceives a blind move and calls out for Jade. Steve has gone out front to take a look around. Dirk opens the door, suddenly grabs Joey inside, his gun on him. The door is slammed and Kayla screams to open it ... Inside Dirk holds his gun on Joe, enraged that he got the cops to come. Joe tells him he took the fall but a cop has been shot and is on the floor bleeding profusely. They had come for questions after Dirk killed a clerk. Simone is placing pressure to stop the blood. They are all dangerous Dirk's hostages, including Simone and Jade. Steve comes back to Kayla outside. He asks her to call the cops as he works to get inside ... Dirk shoves Joey, who huddles with Jade. Joey now slowly stands up. Dirk is panicking and perspiring from withdrawal symptoms. He gasps he needs a deal with the cops or they all die. Jade whimpers ... JJ changes the subject. He would rather hear about Jen's meetings. They are going well. JJ now admits Rory hit him and complains he feels like he betrayed him. Julie quietly listens ... Dirk is wildly waving around his weapon and grabs Joey again. Simone says to think about what he is doing! Dirk walks to the door with his prisoner. He comes out with a gun in Joey's back, sees Steve, and sneers he shot a cop and has hostages. Steve plays it cool. He smoothly states says he used to be ISA and can get him out with one phone call. Dirk decides he prefers the cops. Steve says the cops don't care and cannot get things done as quickly. Dirk closes door. He snaps if he does not get out Joey dies. He pushes him back to Jade, who is in terrified tears. Joe whispers not to worry for they are smarter than Dirk and have the best backup out there. Kayla has called the cops but a pile up has led to heavy traffic on the freeway. They cannot come fast. Steve declares he is going to get inside. Kayla cries DON'T. However, she wants him to take some kind of action. Steve suspects the cops would only set Dirk the loose cannon off and tells her he can talk him down, he is a qualified experienced hostage negotiator. He gives sweetness a kiss, says keep the faith, and proceeds to pick the lock. Second later he slips in without a sound ... Simone puts more pressure on the bleeding cop. Dirk is looking out the window. Steve silently enters and hears Simone lament the cop is losing more blood. Steve and Joe make eye contact. Dirk soon sees him too and points the pistol at him. Steve holds his hands in the air and calmly drawls it is cool. Dangerous Dirk disagrees, his hands trembling, his finger on the trigger ... Steve steps closer and claims he wants to save him as well as all of them. He acts surprised he did not run. What does he want? He can help him. Steve suggests he take his finger off the trigger and tell him what he needs ... Kayla is glad when the cop car arrives and cries Steve is inside ... Steve is no miracle worker. Dirk demands immunity in writing from a judge. Steve says let the cop and the others go first. He offers to be his hostage. Outside the detective grumbles about Steve going in and places a call ... Dirk's phone rings. The detective identifies himself. Dirk demands a fast flight to Mexico. The detective wants him to make a show of good faith first. Dirk hangs up. The detective calls back explaining he needs time. His hands are tied until he releases someone ... JJ meets Rory at the park to discuss how their friendship went to hell. Rory solemnly states he is a dead man now and it is all his fault! JJ swore he would have immunity but he now has to face doing time with those he implicated. It is an impossible situation. JJ sighs he is sorry he made a mistake by assuming he could cut him a deal. Rory scoffs his whole life is hopeless and departs ... Jen remembers trashing her house for drugs. Julie brings a tea tray. Jen is not interested in anything not stronger than tea but tells her she will not fall off the wagon. She wonders how it came to this. Julie assures her she can do anything with her life and sips her tea. Jen admits she is worried about her kids. JJ faces daily danger and Abigail is in an institution. Julie the sage suggests tragedy is everywhere in the world (how true now especially). She speaks of the importance of family, how the Hortons step up. Jen thanks her and they emotionally embrace. Simone speaks up. She never asked Dirk him for anything but please stop this! Steve suggests Dirk can control the ending. Joey and Jade are huddling. Jealous Dirk seems to want wants to off Joey but Steve diverts him and suggests he start by releasing the injured cop, whom he accidentally shot. Simone agrees. Steve knows what it is like cos he was on the street too. He joined the merchant marines but one guy on his side saved him. Dirk can be saved too ... Kayla begs the detective not to have his cops storm the place. The door opens and the injured cop staggers out, followed by the other hostages, including sorry Simone, who cries she tried. Kayla angrily blames the foolish flower child for whatever comes next ... Dirk decides he is keeping Joe and Jade just in case. He demands Steve call his people. All of a sudden a cop jumps in, his gun drawn. Joey charges Dirk and they struggle. The gun goes off and Joey is shot in the stomach. The cop grabs Dirk along with Steve and they disarm him. Kayla rushes inside and tells wounded Joey help is on its way. Steve is by his side right with her as they urge their son to fight. But Joey cries he is going to die, while Jade weeps ... THE END!
